Even though I'm a long-time fan of Costco which uses the opposite concept to Bulk Barn, both business models combine to complete your shopping needs and help make you less dependent on the high priced stores like Loblaws nearby. came here to get pricing on some nuts and seed's to see how it compares to other stores that i go to. i also came to this location because my neighborhood does not have a convenient location whatsoever. this location is super small but packs a bit of a punch, you can find all of the normal stocked bulk barn items here. the service was great, staff was super friendly and accommodating for my needs and questions. I was able to get some hazelnuts and be on my way after taking photos for my research purposes. transit options are the 504 A/B King, and the 510 Spadina streetcars, both with a bit of a walk. parking options are on the street, some side streets, and some underground parking lots in the area. will come back to this diamond in the rough if in the area. read more

I wish they were also in the states. I love that I can get just what I need even if the tiniest amount. They sell bulk items by the weight like snacks, spices, spreads, pastas, candy, cake mix, drink mix and even dog food. They also sell regular items (non-bulk) like cake boxes, cookie cutters, drinks, storage containers, pinatas and more. I definitely recommend bulk barn. read more

REDUCING PACKAGING WASTE Absolutely fell in love with this store. Rows and rows of bins and bins filled with grains, nuts, spices, beans, candy, pasta, etc.. The reduction in packaging waste is tremendous. I hope this is trending and continues to more and more urban areas! read more

I think this is a good store to come and buy couple of spices that you need for your dish, however I noticed that the prices are VERY high. I was also looking for some healthy cereal but most of them contained canola oil or other ingredients that I do not want to see in my granola, and I could not find gluten free products. I got couple of things to try (liked their white, red and black quinoa) that actually costs a fortune! After I purchased it, I went to Costco and then I saw that I paid 3 x the price!!!! What a rip off! I have to add that this store had some good selection for chocolate chips and flours, so if you want to bake something fancy, this is the store. But you have to be rich to shop here. read more

I first walked into a Bulk Barn 2 years ago and I've been in love ever since! All the spices, candies, nuts, dried fruits, baking ingredients, and snacks you could think of at your fingertips in the desired amount! I even found chocolate covered blueberries, peanut M&Ms, confectioner/frosting sugar all in bulk. Genius! I wish that these stores existed in the US! this store was nice and organized still beaming with holiday cooking and baking supplies. Was in the Center Street location today. A predominantly Jewish area. Was looking for Chanukah sprinkles, gold coins ( not the loonies ones), cookie cutters, anything for baking and found d absolutely nothing!!. When I mentioned it to the manager she shrugged and muttered something under her breath and walked away. Well that store is supported by the people in that neighborhood and that should be reflected in their goods especially at this time of year. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. I was shopping with my friend at golden mile plaza bulk barn, there was a new girl this happened this past Monday. I had picked up a mix of candy called fun mix it has several different liquorices. The cashier looked at me and said did you mix this? I said no, she said you did mix these, I said it comes that way, after calling me a thief a few more times she calls her associate over who confirms it comes that way. Completely humiliated I pick up my purchases and leave she said nothing more did not even say she was sorry. Guess I don't need bulk barn any more, if you want customers, after the last two years we've had, she needs, either more training or shelf stocking duties until she learns what she is selling. I like bulk barn. I always spend $70-$100 each month at this location from the first week it opened. However today was bad. The cashier, who corrected my bill because I asked for a student discount which I've not known it has been existed! Maybe I was blind --" I asked the first cashier for a discount after I heard it from another customer. Unfortunately, she finished the payment already. So she asked her supervisor (I guess) to do it for me. That supervisor or someone didn't smile at all. She showed such a bad attitude. I knew it was my bad that I didn't inform you before but I didn't realize it at the time. I actually didn't care about the discount anymore but I wanted to see how she handled it. And it turned out bad. She showed that I annoyed her! Haha. Was it funny? It wasn't for me. Discount is never a big deal for me but service is. I don't understand how she could be someone that the company gave an authorization to correct purchases or void items. It's a service which every store must provide to its customers. Those people must have service minds and understand their customers thru customers' perspectives. NOT this one! I'm your customer. I don't need to be supervised or have told to do something. You can explain me or give me the alternatives which are more valuable for me. If not, why you bother to work in sales or service. Bulk barn needs to reconsider about the employee training programs. Or you can try to check the service quality by yourself. You will see it how your employees really do. I don't know if bulk barn considers me as a profitable customer or not. I never thought I would need a Bulk Barn. I've never made it a point to shop at one until now. It seemed like a strange location at first but I think it actually works in the King West neighbourhood. The prices are very reasonable and you only buy as much as you need. Are you a baker? Do you cook? Do you eat? Maybe you're a snacker? Do you like candies? Do you have pets? So many possibilities. It's clean and bright. Write your product numbers on the little tags to help out the cashiers. Please mind your step upon entry, they really should've done something about that. read more

Absolutely amazing! FINALLY a Bulk Barn downtown! I was extremely excited when I saw the opening soon sign some time ago and this afternoon was my first visit. Not sure why it took me so long, but I was extremely impressed and definitely was a happy customer. The store was spacious, very clean and everything was well organized with clear labels. My kind of store! This location like any Bulk Barns has absolutely everything you can ask for to satisfy your healthy snacks to sweet tooth to baking needs to fresh grind-your-own nut butters to pastas to boxed goodies to refreshments and even pet food, all at very reasonable prices. Plus the best part, you can buy as much or as little as you want. In the past, I usually avoid Bulk Barns because of their locations and fact I have seen some customers not practicing hygienic protocol. Not to say it cannot happen here, but clientele in this neighbourhood makes me believe the likelihood of any unhygienic practices will definitely be limited or completely eliminated. Checkout was a breeze as the staff were friendly, fast and efficient. Cannot ask for much more than that as it was definitely a great shopping experience. I recently went to Bulk Barn to purchase chocolate M&Ms and discovered that they charged $2.45 per 100 grams for this product. This is double the amount charged anywhere else. What a rip off and one has to think twice before assuming just because it is labeled "BULK BARN" you find competitive pricing. read more

The women working at the cashier were the most miserable people i met in my life. Poor customer service. They didn't even say thank you, i was the one saying thank you to them. More importantly, i brought in my containers and had the cashiers weighed them for me They wrote how the weight on top of my container. I filled my containers and went to pay. The cashier didn't even subtract the weight of my containers. What is the point of promoting to bring your own containers when they are still going to charge you the weight of the product nd the container?! I would assume that they would use their common sense and notice that i was buying the products with my own containers. I was already on the TTC home when i noticed they didn't subtract the weight of my containers and it waa too late to go back and tell them about it. Will never go back to rhis location. read more

This place is pretty awesome! Tons of bulks candy, nuts, flours, spices and much more. I stopped in to buy a small selection of candy and cookies for dessert (don't judge). Only cost me a few bucks and I still have cookies for tomorrow! read more

The Covid-19 pandemic is in full swing and Bulk Barn has changed their hours... completely understandable. They have also changed their procedures and only let a few people in at a time. Also very understandable. Let me start this off by saying that this was Good Friday and for the COVID-19 pandemic all essential businesses for the most part including Bulk Barn have decided to close on Sunday and Friday. This was the Thursday evening and I arrived at Bulk Barn just before 5:30 p.m. there is about 8 people in line and Bulk Barn was moving things along so slowly that in that half an hour they let 2 people into the store and then proceeded to tell all but 3 people in line that they had to go because they were going to close at that moment. To let your customers stand outside to then just close the door on them after waiting in the cold for half an hour is despicable. I have a lot of respect for people working in the essential market right now but I have no respect for that. I'll never be returning. read more

Totally stoked that there is a new Bulk Barn in such a wicked downtown location. This one is located approximately 100 meters from my condo and I can already easily accredit a 5lb weight gain to Bulk Barn since it's opening several months ago. It can get quick busy in here as people hit the LCBO next door and then pop by to stock up on candy. If candy is not your thing then you can certainly hit up the baking aisle. I love buying flours, sugars and other baking ingredients in bulk. Spices too. It's extremely cost efficient, especially when you are making a new recipe and need several new ingredients. You can buy small quantities of spices here and it ends up costing 30-40 cents vs $4.99 for a whole jar at the grocery store. You can rent really cool cake pans here for $1.99 (one's in different shapes, Disney Characters, etc) which is also pretty cool. read more

Watch your flax seeds carefully! After a month in an airtight container, I was absolutely disgusted to open the jar and see two moths fly out - after extensive googling, I learned the logical cause of this is supply contamination. I reached out to Bulk Barn and they have done absolutely nothing about the situation, telling me they 'can't find record of my transaction' (I have the bank statement). The whole thing makes me feel so sick, I can't stand the thought of anyone else consuming moth larvae, so just passing this on. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

I can't believe there are 2 Bulk Barn locations so close to home! While I usually end up at the Yonge and College location, I have been to this location on King Street enough times to give it a review. It seems a bit smaller but less confined than the Yonge location, and definitely less busy, which is nice. Both locations are cleaner than the ones I remember in the suburbs! Both locations sell a lot of health food items, including the Simply Protein Whey bars that live in my purse in case of hangry emergencies! Candy, nuts, quinoa, protein bars, even Summerfresh Hummus... the list of items that Bulk Barn sells might surprise you! If you are buying anything more than a handful of candy or a few tablespoon of spices, the prices are not competitive with buying in bulk at a grocery store, but sometimes all you need is just 12 soft jujubes, or a teaspoon of white pepper, so why commit to an entire bag when you can get just what you need from Bulk Barn? read more

Bulk Barn has really upped their game in the last few years, and the plethora of new locations is clearly a strong indicator of the success they're enjoying. Funny thing about Bulk Barn is it's definitely one of those stores that if you don't know what you're doing, you can end up dropping $50 there without breaking a sweat (and most of it will be on candy). For most things, there are places that sell it cheaper. But the fact of the matter is that Bulk Barn's sheer amount of selection makes them the better choice overall for most of what you find in there. They also have sales everyday, which is a nice bonus. Personally, I've spent way too much on gummy worms at this place, but they're incredibly addictive and always fresh! It's like my kryptonite. This location in particular is well placed, has friendly staff, and is very clean. They even have their own peanut butter making machine. Worth the trip, but make a shopping list and stick to it, otherwise you're just asking for trouble! read more

Imagine walking into a store where you can conveniently shop for all the bulk products you need, Cashier rings you up, $176 then proceeds to try to give you multiple PAPER bags with NO HANDLE!!! If you BUY the reusable bags for $1 each you can actually take your groceries home! This "pilot project" is friggin' rubbish. I'd really like to speak to someone who gives a f**k but that person has probably been phased out along with the functional plastic bags with handles. read more

I wish I could give zero star to Bulk Barn. A week ago when I couldn't find any flour( usually use Robin Hood brand) in any grocery store, I decided to get some from Bulk Barn. Being a baker it wasn't my first time purchasing baking needs from them. The purchased flour was smell bad, the colour was odd and the taste was awful. My two kids they didn't eat anything that I used to bake with this flour even they didn't play with the play dough that I made out of it. At this hard times that every struggles somehow honesty is the most important thing that I didn't see from this store and I felt so embarrassed. read more
