Anytime I have the option to shoot outside vs an indoor range I take it. The private bays here are not common for most shooting ranges so this was a major plus. However I am baffled about the people complaining about RSOs asking to see NFA paperwork. The paperwork clearly states always have the forms on you as it's well within the rights of the establishment to verify. One person saying it's not the RSO's business?! Last time I checked this isn't a publicly owned space but a private business. Not to mention you're supposed to have the paperwork on you anytime you're in possession/transporting. The staff this morning has a bad attitude. I had three in my group but one wasn't going to shoot and we got a private bay. I was charge for three but i didn't understand why and asked the staff to explain and he gave me an attitude because he had to repeat himself three times because the first two time i couldn't hear him since he wanted to whisper and talk while he's turned away from me. Then he got confused and told me they charged by shooters and then switched back to they charged by person. I'll never go back to bullet hole! Paying customers shouldn't even receive a hint of attitude from employees. Learn to use your big boy voice big man. Reviews are true about this place. read more

Beautiful range. Horrible staff. I went there and was the only one on the 100 yard rifle range and they kicked me out for the same reasons as many state (not waiting 5 seconds between shots). Granted I'm okay with the rules, but you could have told me before I already set up my optics and not after my 15th shot. Pure wankers. read more

I've been to dozens of gun ranges this one was very unsatisfactory. Don't get me wrong the lanes are decent but the staff is awful, apparently when shooting a rifle it has to be with 5 seconds increments, ours were "3-4" so we got kicked out without a courtesy warning or anything having only been on the lane for about 10 minutes which obviously didn't grant a refund. I went there a couple of days ago and the place is well, ok. The booth clerk where you check in was brain dead and lacked any kind of a personality but the range boss was fairly cool. We shot at the public pistol range and enjoyed ourselves a great deal nevertheless. They don't micromanage you a tremendous amount and the facility is clean and well laid out. Especially the private bays. If you can grab one that is. My girlfriend and I arrived there early on a Friday and after standing in a long line we were told they had no private bays available. Ten minutes after they opened. And you cannot reserve one online like at Lone Star. So the place gets a dubious three stars as a result from me. I really wanted to like this range, but the experience was disappointing from the moment I walked in. The front desk staff are cold, unwelcoming, and act like customers are an inconvenience instead of the reason the place exists. There's zero professionalism or basic courtesy. Once you get to the range, the coaches take it to another level. They're overly aggressive, nitpicky, and seem more interested in flexing authority than actually helping anyone shoot safely. They enforce "rules" that aren't posted anywhere, and will jump on you for the smallest thing even something as harmless as standing a couple feet to the left of your target. If it's not written down, it shouldn't be treated like a violation. The explanations they give for their warnings don't make sense either. Somehow a 5.56 round from 15 yards away is supposed to magically ricochet off a 20-30 foot dirt/mulch berm? It feels like they're making things up just to justify being confrontational. Overall, the environment is tense, unprofessional, and not worth the money. It's clear that the owner, Carol, doesn't care about the facility or its reputation, given how often reviews mention Kevin and the staff being rude. My experience confirmed this. Kevin, in particular, is unprofessional and seems to be on a power trip--banning people for the smallest infractions. This was my first time shooting here. My boyfriend and I accidentally parked in the wrong spot, (mind you we were not given any instruction on parking nor was the "no parking" sign directly in front of the spot of where we parked) but we immediately apologized to Kevin. Instead of handling the situation respectfully, he chose to be condescending, argumentative, and flat-out disrespectful. He spoke to us like children and refused to have a civil conversation. I'm a grown adult, and there's no reason to be talked down to over something so minor. To make matters worse, the staff backed him up, defending his unnecessary aggression. A private gun range officer (RSO) cannot compel a gun owner to show proof of registration, such as an ATF tax stamp, to use the range. It's 50/50 here. You will either have a nice chill Range outing or not. I strictly do Private Bays and they're awesome. If it weren't for those I'd prolly go somewhere else. Been coming here on and off for probably a decade.. and I agree with most of what the other reviewers have stated. The NFA stuff isn't a deal breaker for me, it's not like they're snapping pics of your Class III items. You either get to deal with chill staff, which I did get deal with on my last outings. There are always range officers around, they try to be invisible and only observe. Shooting a firearm is a serious sport and there are things can go terribly wrong if you don't know the basic firearm rules, so don't get offended if you are corrected. i am an experience shooter and i have been corrected. We went back today with a group of friends and wow what a difference as soon as we entered the gentleman at the front greeted us, was friendly and patient with our questions, the rude guy from last time was there and he seemed to have improved his manners some and was telling us 'pro tip' that didn't apply to us - because we still had to come in for our drivers license and a private bay- but it was an improvement - esp w the first guy. One of the better places to shoot in San Antonio due to their private bays, but rude employees and RSO's almost always put a damper on the experience. The office staff is not very friendly, they always seem to have a chip on their shoulder when interacting with customers. In particular there is an older (early 60's) overweight gentleman and an older woman who I've had bad experiences with multiple times. They answer questions in a rude manner and almost always talk down to myself and other young adult shooters. Some of the younger staff members are polite and respectful, but overall I would expect bad service 2/3 of the time. The same goes for the RSOs- some are respectful individuals while others are very jaded old-timers on some sort of power trip. That being said, the facility itself is not bad. They have 8, twenty yard private bays ($17-22 per person), where you can shoot at your own pace with whatever weapons you choose. These fill up quick and are rented out in two hour time slots. It is not uncommon to see folks lined up 30-60 minutes before opening time to get a bay. read more

I like this range. Price aint bad and they have PRIVATE BAYS!! The staff is really helpful and polite. They even helped me when i had an issue with a firearm. The cost is 10 ish when you have your membership card. The membership is a 5.00 one time fee. Weekends can get busy. During the week is when i choose to go. If you havent tried them out you should go. PRIVATE bays cannot be reserved on weekend but if you get a private bay there are no limits to firing. Of course responsibly but no waiting 5 seconds to fire unless your on the public range. read more

Staff is friendly in the sense that they get a lot of traffic every day and some people just don't know gun safety when they come, I've never had any issue with the staff. I had made my first visit to bullet hole this past weekend with a couple of friends. We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday. The range was busy. We waited 20 minutes for a private bay. I must say, the wait was worth the reward! Cost per person was $18 w/ membership card or $23 w/o. The private bay can be held for 1.5hr at a time while the regular lanes can be all day. Guns are available to rent and there is some used inventory available for purchase. The private bay gives you about 50 feet wide by 100 feet long lane with overhead cover at the beginning and end of the lane with benches. There's enough room for 8 people to shoot online at the same time. Your able to drive up right behind the lane and unload everything. Supervision is minimal! No RSO saying "hey! You can't do that" every 5 seconds. You can't beat these prices! I'll happily keep driving 20 minutes go to shoot for a private bay under $20 a head! read more

Everything was fine, with some exceptions. There is a range rule here about 1 shot per 5 seconds. Zeroed my new AR. During the zero there were shooters to my right that violated this policy continually and we're just warned over and over. No big deal it is a gun range. What is a big deal is that these same idiots closed their bolt during a cease fire while my buddy and I were downrange. Then towards the end of the day we went to the 300m range and I followed the example set by those idiots and fired controlled pairs at my targets for one magazine. I was asked to leave the range. Now why weren't the idiots who violated the same rule over a greater duration and closed their bolt during a cease fire asked to leave?? I did violate the rules but I followed a president that had already been set and did so for a much shorter duration. Also it's worth mentioning that a shotgun range to my right was firing rapidly most of the time I was there. So you can fire more often than once per 5 seconds, but I guess you have to it for the privilege. read more

We got there this morning as soon as they opened so we had the rifle range to ourselves. Overall the experience was great. They do have range officials which apparently bothers some people but I don't mess around with firearm safety so it didn't bother me. The individual that checked on us was very friendly. They provide a shooting platform and a stool so all you really need to bring is your rifle and ammo. I enjoyed my trip there and will be sure to go again.
