We had a great time on the sporting clay course, 5 stand and the pistol range. The sporting clay course was a lot of fun with a good mix of target presentations. We enjoyed the metal targets at the pistol range and not having to constantly pause shooting for the whole range to change targets. The staff were beyond helpful, very friendly, informative and willing to give pointers and suggestions. I wish we lived closer to a facility like this. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to SA. read more

Hands down the best outdoor shooting range in Converse. Great place if you enjoy shooting outdoors. Lots of renovations happening lately so it will be interesting to see the final results. Josh the owner is an amazing guy, army Vet, took the LTC class with him and he is amazing at what he does. All the staff is very friendly and professional, shoutout to "Arturo" for always being so friendly and helpful. My son took me out to get me back into shooting. Since we've moved here 8 months ago I hadn't found a spot. LoneStar is definitely MY SPOT! Everyone is so friendly, professional, welcoming, I felt comfortable.. and there have been a few ranges we have checked out here in San Antonio are I didn't feel was the right place for me. Prices are great! $15 for person. My son got a free day because of his work. It's a simple process.. scan a barcode answer some questions. They have guns you can rent, they do training classes, safety classes and even fingerprinting for your Conceal Carry. Great supplies, hats, shirts, ammo, all kinds of gun parts, ammo boxes, etc. you can rent lanes or bays. They also have an area for bows. At the front of the property there is a cool little pond with a covered area and picnic tables. Perfect for if you want to take the family but not everyone wants to go to the range they can just sit and have a picnic!! It was a cool day overall.. the area where range is thankfully is covered with big fans to help with the heat. What really made me respect this place is that every lane has a picture of a serviceman/ woman that has passed - their picture and story. Memorial for each... that shows enormous amount of respect ! I do not recommend shooting at this range if you are female . Ladies, be forewarned- there is a creepy range officer who practically climbed into the shooting stall with me and was "trying to give me pointers" AFTER my husband told him I was fine. I then had to sternly tell him two more times that I did not need or want his help before he finally went away to be a creeper somewhere else. He obsessively wanted to load dummy rounds into my mags to "help me shoot better". He was uncomfortably close , practically on top of me in the stall, aggressively persistent, and he was making me extremely uncomfortable. Nope, I will not be back. To many good ranges in SA without range staff who aren't absolute creeps to put up with it here. read more

Last time I'll be here. Horrible range etiquette by a group of Europeans that swooped in and laid their stuff all over the place, hogging the firing lanes. One started firing on the target my husband put out and when confronted he just kept doing it. The chairs are too low, benches too high the awning too low that the sighting scoop we rented couldn't see down range at the longer targets. The benches are so high, when you put your gun in a bench vice you can't see the target because the awning is too low. Full auto shouldn't be integrated into the pistol range and should be at a separate place within the range complex since your not zeroing, your just spraying and praying. read more

I went out hoping to shoot paper targets with a pistol using one of their 7 yard private lanes. Nope, all under reconstruction. Why didn't the website say that? The website talks about those lanes, but nothing I saw before the 30 minute trek out from San Antonio said anything about the reconstruction. My fault? Should have called. Most of their lanes are metal targets. Not what I want to shoot. When paper target lanes are available it's great place to shoot. read more

It was mine and my girlfriend's very first visit to the range and, we were both very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the entire complex and the staff in particular. Upon arriving at the HQ building we were promptly greeted with a friendly counter clerk who was helpful in every way. The range boss was so totally cool that we were both floored by the lack of micromanagement and pettiness found at so many indoor ranges around here. We thought having someone hanging over your shoulder constantly was normal. Anyway, we both enjoyed the heck out of shooting our handguns and we well, had a blast!! I plan to return with my rifles very soon. The rates are extremely affordable and all in all compared to other places this range is quite frankly the best place to shoot that I know of in the immediate San Antonio area. I highly recommend that you visit this range and compare it to what you're acccusomed to. You will not be disappointed. read more

My son and I made a trip out a couple of Saturdays ago. It's easily my new favorite place to get some range time in, despite being an outdoor range. The staff is competent, friendly and accommodating. They put safety first, without being complete jerks when covering the rules and regs, as well as when enforcing them (observed a couple of instances). The shooting area is covered, so you are protected from the unforgiving sun. The 300 yard targets give you some range to stretch out a little bit with AR's and hunting rifles. The prices are reasonable. And despite being an hour drive for me, I'll be back on a regular basis for any short to mid range rifle time. read more

I have been to all of the indoor and outdoor ranges in San Antonio. This by far is the best one with an incredible team of cadre. They arent arrogant but they are safe and knowledgeable on the range as well as in their shop. Plus the CHL was a great class where you cab get your fingerprints done with indentigo in their shop !! (If you make an appt) but hands-down the best around. Oh yeah they have skeet. Steel targets at various distances & a full auto lane, if youre lucky enough to have one. read more

Great place! We did a low light run and gun. The staff was really accommodating. We had an issue, totally some miscommunication between folks in our party and they really worked with us to make the evening a great experience. 100% would go back here! Carmelo is a excellent trainer. Six people in our class and at least one that was new to shooting. His explanation on how to hold and fire your handgun helped everyone improve their shooting ability. Qualifying you need between 175-250. Not one person scored less than 220. BUT and NOW the negative part. They need to review their class description. They say that you get a bonus digital course download. When I asked about it, no one had any idea what I was talking about. On their sign up page it says that you get one handed training including how to shoot while moving. That never happened. I came there to get my LTC and that really was all that mattered.
