Came here for lunch with coworkers. Absolutely love the views of the lake behind the restaurant. Unfortunately we were seated in the front of the restaurant that faces the street. Not busy at all for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Inside is pretty large with seating in the front, a full bar and then seating in the back of the restaurant. Inside is pretty unforgettable. Comfortable and clean, but just sort of dark and lots of wood tones. Our server was friendly and attentive. The bathrooms are by the entrance of the restaurant and they were thoroughly cleaned because the whole bathroom smelt like bleach. The menu is really large and has a lot of options. I was a bit worried about the large menu, and if it was quality food or not. Thankfully, it's pretty decent! The French onion soup had a good broil of the cheese, but lots of bread but not so much onions are broth. We also ordered the breadstick appetizer and oh my gosh, you would need at least eight adults to put a dent in the portion size. The breadsticks looked better than they taste but the cream cheese dip was very good. A theme of this place are the huge portion sizes. Every single one of us needed a box to go of our food. I went with the grilled cheese and sweet potato waffle fries. The waffle fries were good, but unfortunately the fries were cold. The grilled cheese was a double-decker, which I could've done without the third layer of bread. But the sandwich had a great crisp and cheesy goodness. Cashing out took a bit. Wasn't a place where you could quickly go out for lunch and head back to work within 45 minutes. read more

Well, hottest day of the year and humidity to boot. That said, it was nicer outside than inside. All since the manager was 'to cheap' and insisted on leaving the patio doors open despite what the help was telling him. All the help was red faced from the swelterting heat. This set the tone for not the best service, though she and I am sure the others were trying. I truly believe once this manager closed the patio doors the place started to cool off quickly but by then our food was gone and we wanted out. This 'cheap manager' cost his help some tip money which he should make up on every bill that the customer didn't give a minimum of 25% as they deserve combat pay for your poor decision making. By the way both above quotes come from our server who I am leaving her name off for her well being. Food was good and prices were fair. Will we come back? Probably not. Their sister location in Lapeer is run so much better. read more

The food is usually good and it's a nice setting. The experiences the last 2 times I have been here were very poor. The last being the cook was picking earwax out of his ears. This last time he was picking his nose. After he finished cooking the food he was texting on his phone nonstop. Does he not know you can see right in the kitchen and there's mirrors? I ordered grilled shrimp (hopefully minus boogers!) and it just tasted like heated up cocktail shrimp. Our waitress was great, except for the fact she was using cleaner spraying down the counters where the soup bowls and appetizer plates are located. My friend and I went here last night because she had heard nice things about this place. We went to the outside bar and the waitress was VERY unfriendly. She barely made eye contact, didn't offer us any water, and was walking around servicing everyone else. i Just barely managed to place an order for fish tacos, but apparently my friend and I took too long to decide on what we wanted to drink and then she proceeded to have "technical difficulties" with her register. We love Bullfrogs! I'm kind of surprised they don't have many more wonderful reviews. We love coming in the summer & sitting on the patio, especially with a cold beer. We stopped in tonight for the Fish Tacos and Buffalo Wings. My son also loves the fish tacos! Some might say the fish tacos are plain but we love them. A big piece of fried fish in each tortilla (comes with 4 fish tacos & a side!). It's a lot of food. Our waiter was excellent! I have 2 issues with Bullfrogs, last year about this time of year with single digets outside and people holding the drafty door open, the hostess sat us at the worst table in the restaurant, right in front of the drafty door and people waiting for their table watching you eat your dinner. I asked the manager if they seat all senior citizens in front of the drafty door in the middle of winter. Had lunch there recently and had to ask the waiter for bread twice! I noticed he was messing with his phone behind the bar instead of servicing his customers in a timely manner and after he served our meal and I mentioned the bread and he comes back with "well don't we have something to say today " and I said that the bread should come before the meal, and I shouldn't have to tell him how to do his job, I'm sure if I hadn't said anything we would have never seen any bread. He's lucky I wasn't leaving the tax free tip today and he got more tip than he deserved. You really shouldn't have to ask for complementary bread once, let alone twice and then get crap from your waiter when you do ask. read more

We go to the Lake Inn up in Lapeer and we're so happy to hear that Bullfrogs was being bought by them. My wife and I went there yesterday for a kind of a day-date. We were in Goodrich to pickup some patio furniture and stopped by to get dinner. It was perfect timing because they weren't real busy yet and got seated right away. We thought about sitting on the deck but i was already a little sunburned and hot, so we took advantage of a high-top in the air-conditioning. The wife ordered a Margarita and I had a Bell's Oberon. Service was very prompt and attentive without over doing it. I ordered the fish and chips the better half had the chicken quesadilla, both were very good. The fish was crunchy on the outside nice and flakey and not dried out on the inside. I finished mine and she brought half of hers home because it was a generous portion. We want to take all the kids back and sit on the deck. The menu is pretty big with a good verity. Our server Holly was fairly new but she was very nice. A little bit of a drive for us but worth it. read more

We decided to take a drive to Bullfrogs for dinner Sunday night as I had never been there before, and the 2 people I was with hadn't been there in a few years. I guess there were some bad reviews about them after new owners took over....saying food had gone downhill. But-wanted to see what was up now after restaurants being open 50%, hours expanding, etc, Hoped Covid-protocols were in place. First driving into the parking lot, really liked the Bullfrogs sign, could see the water, looked like a nice size deck with a bar, TVs for when it gets a bit warmer out. Had hoped that was open, but time we went was starting to get chilly so that was ok. There were a few cars in parking lot, but wasn't too bad when we went in. Waited on right away. Nice girls at hostess station. Was sat a a booth a good distance from others, plexiglass between booths. Employees all wearing masks. Waiter was great, got our drinks right away. All 3 of us enjoyed our food-delicious! I got the fish sandwich and fries(think it was Cod lol), 1 got the wham-a-jama, other pulled pork & fries. No complaints on food or drinks at all. Or the service. Maybe things have been worked out over the past year..? Anyway-we didn't have any problems here and plan on going back. My comfort zone was tested a little(because of Covid) by the crowded bar as there were no empty seats...so if things get overly busy I may stick to outdoor dining a bit longer. I went back to my old tried and true hamburger since it's been several years and OMG. I can't remember having a better Burger anywhere. It was moist, juicy and cooked to perfection. Grabbed the local paper and trying to see what these locals call fun. I'm accustomed to downtown Detroit and all the action and excitement associated with big city life but that being said I'm in the contra now so it's time to adapt. I see the add for Bull Frogs in the paper and it looks impressive and could be a cool place to check out for lunch or dinner. The alcohol selection and bar area look appealing as well in the add. Upon arrival I check in on Yelp and find they offer reservation options and a 15 for 20 offer. The atmosphere is really nice and the outside tiki bar is huge and overlooks the lake. Lots of shot and drink specials advertised and the barmaids are friendly and can mix a good drink. Ordered the chips and salsa appetizer and it came out fast and the chips tasted hot and fresh and the salsa was perfect. Ordered the house burger and fries and it came out fast and fresh as well. Very impressed and satisfied with the large portions. Lots of parking, the place is up to date and very clean and worth a try if your in the area. Only down side was the menu selections. Let's start with the big one on my decision to rate this so low, the cooks when told I have a tomato allergy just picked the tomatoes off of the shrimp scampi, and reserved. I had high expectations since Lake Inn is one of my favorite spots, but was disappointed in almost everything here. The servers make your salads and sides without gloves or washing their hands. I haven't been in a few years and I wasn't impressed with the food last time. Today my family went and the food was delicious! Everything. I got fried mushrooms, salad, and chicken Alfredo. Not one thing could have been better. It is an expensive dinner but my husband got a steak and beer so.. that explains that. I gave it four stars because our waitress took a long time to come back to our table each time and also didn't bring my salad out. I had to get another waitress to get it for me. Wow what a shocker. We decided to go back after a disappointing visit a few years ago. We got a table right away. Ordered a chicken dish made of broiler chicken with a crab and lobster and cheese coating. Believe me I've had chicken many times but this combination was a masterpiece of taste. I will never go to Bullfrogs's ever again due to the manager George. We had a late lunch there and my friend had ordered an extra salmon filet to take home to his wife. They had given hill a box to take it home. We left there and my friend realized he had left the box, it had only been six minutes so we headed back and called the restaurant. The gal who answered the phone said she would check and found the person who had bussed the table had thrown it out. I was upset and she asked if they wanted them to make another one and we said yes. Then the manager George got on the phone and said they can't keep the take away boxes, remember it had only been six minutes. He refused to make another one gratis and was extremely rude and aggressive. I told them I was going to leave a one star review on Yelp and he said don't come back here and hung up, We left almost a 30% tip in spite of the fact that we emphasized that we wanted the salmon to be done medium and it came all dried out as it was the last time we ordered it. There are many better alternatives to eat at in Ortonville any way you measure it. read more

Bike Night on Mondays - specials abound. We rode up on a nice weeknight and sat on the patio. I did call ahead and made a reservation for us but the staff seemed a little disjointed as to reservations and seating people. We hit the jackpot with our server, Cody. He was quick, attentive and engaging. I had the steak and shrimp fajitas and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The soup was great. The fajitas were grilled in butter, so not as healthy as I was hoping, but it was good. I ate off the top anyway and the shrimps were cooked perfectly. The steak was nicely seasoned, good cut pieces and didn't fight back when chewing it. Bonus! Nice sides and all for a good price. My hubs had a taco salad. It was a bit spicy but just what he wanted. Ground beef and very large. We enjoyed a couple of the drink specials and the view from our seats. Lots of screens to watch a game or fight. Great place to watch a fight and meet with a group of friends. We tried the Frog Ears for dessert. They were described to us as Beignets with caramel sauce and ice cream. They were more like dense pretzel dough balls, fried and rolled in sugar and cinnamon. The insides weren't really cooked all the way but what was, was good - just not what I wanted. Hubby and I stopped here for lunch a few weeks ago. It was still a beautiful day to sit out on the deck. He ordered the pizza, which was decent, but I wouldn't call it delicious. I went for some soup and salad. I really like soup, especially for lunch. The house salad was pretty good for a bar, and the lobster bisque was quite yummy too. Our waitress was kind and efficient. Food was great and service was fast and friendly. Great atmosphere! I will say the server stopped right away as we were seated and then never came came back to get our order. So I flagged down another server who just took our order quickly. Strange how you can just forget or ignore a table but I know she may have gotten busy but you still should have someone checking on it for you. Overall great experience and setting! All the drinks are 8 even miraculously, like someone got lazy with the pricing. It was one of the best burgers I have had in awhile. Also the place was very well staffed!!
