I have fostered two dogs with Jen from Bullies and Buddies, and I can say hands down that she cares for each of her doggies probably as much, if not more, than humans. Our Teddy that we ended up adopting came in with a broken leg and the rescue paid for all of his vet bills and even after care at a local pet rehab clinic. I recently went through the foster and adoption process with another dog and Jen held my hand the whole time. She has many local resources, and helps with behavioral training as needed. Here is the thing for potential adopters: she has a team of volunteers but she is literally one woman who matches the dogs with their forever homes. She is VERY protective of her dogs and will take dogs back into the rescue if need be. I can see that she tries to keep them local to the South Bay, and if she doesn't respond to you that probably means you aren't the right fit. Many Instagram rescues do this because they don't have the staff or resources to respond to every application all of the time. They need to focus on the rescue dogs. I am updating my review because after looking further into rescues and shelters, I found out that shelters separate dogs into two categories: rescue only and public adoption. Which means there are groups of dogs that the shelter believes is not adoptable which often get euthanized and aren't even counted. Rescues such as this one, are the only ones that can take these dogs that are unlisted and pending euthanasia. God, why is the system so f*cked up? I hate this world. So I will take back my review but I give 4 stars because we did email back and forth and was told to come out and meet the dog but was barely given the time of day. I get she's busy but wish there was a bit more transparency. That is all. Other than that, l do see how much care she put into this foundation and the dogs. So thank you for that. read more

I had such an amazing experience with Bullies and Buddies. They stepped up to help me at least twice when I needed help at the 11th hour. Bullies and Buddies truly cares deeply about each and every single one of the pups they rescue. They take in cases that most rescues won't. The best part is this rescue is foster based so each and every one of their dogs are in a home getting used to a home setting, learning basic manners, and becoming socialized while waiting for their forever home. We met Jennifer at an adoption event at Rock n Brews in RB. You can tell she and her crew love these precious pups. The adoption process was great. I love they fully vet the adopters, so a home check and really try to find the "right" match for each dog. I would adopt from them in a heartbeat! read more

This place is inhumane and does not have the best interest in placing rescued dogs into suitable homes. I sent an application in and never heard back. My family and I own a home with a large fenced in yard and have previously had bully breeds, yet no response back. I'm not exactly sure what this woman is looking for in a "perfect" home. Maybe she should focus on getting rescued dogs into suitable homes to make more room to rescue dogs that are going to be euthanized in shelters. All I see is the same dogs on her website and people on instagram posting they put an application in, yet she continues to post the same dog over and over saying "I NEED A HOME" guess what...you have home options for these dogs who want to settle into a home with a loving family or companion but you are choosing for these dogs to be in your "rescue" which is inhumane and cruel of her. Dogs deserve a loving and stable family who will get the attention and love they need without having 10 other dogs needing the same attention. Department of Animal Care and Control should be called on this woman, which I am currently looking into. Dogs deserve a loving stable home not being tossed from different rescue homes each week. Shame on this lady to pretend to care for these dogs. read more

We adopted from B&B and Jennifer knew just the dog we would love and could care for. He was the love of our lives and just the best dog ever! She came by to see how we were all doing after the adoption. Jen has been our friend ever since. She is an amazing person! We're looking forward to adopting our next fur baby. While this organization may do good for animals, my interaction to obtain a pet was not pleasant. I had seen a puppy and inquired twice by email and an application and received no response. I then registered for their pet event and inquired about the dog's availability. And received no response. We drove over 50 miles to the event. With the understanding the puppy may not be still available, and that we may not be chosen to adopt. Which is typical of private dog rescues. The reason for this review is that no where on the listing for this dog online, did it state that this dog needed to be adopted into a home with another dog. This was a 4 month old puppy that came in with its mother and brother. The brother got adopted out prior. The mother dog was at the event also. Most online rescues and shelters state their stipulations for adoption consideration for each dog or overall. We were told within moments (by the Founder, I think) that the dog we were interested in, needed to be adopted into a home with other dogs, and we were not a good fit. When I inquired about adopting the mom also, I was told in part that she was a handful. BTW, in the past we have taken our dogs to training, if needed, and have experience training them also. Nor were we offered to be considered for other future adoptable dogs from this organization, that might be a "better fit." This was stated before she asked ANY questions about our experience with dogs, which has been lifelong. Including AKC breeds and strays, small and large. So I assume my email or application was read but never responded to. Because this person knew we did not have another animal in our home, which is true. If I would have received an email response, that would have been good customer service and saved us a long drive. I was asked did I realize this was a private rescue. Well of course, this is stated online, and there are several private rescue organizations. I was quickly referred to another shelter in Inglewood. We chose to adopt a stray or rescue rather than a full bred dog. This in hopes to save a dog's life and support the chosen rescue group or shelter. I cannot help but think that the decision to not consider us at all, was biased. We are a dog loving, professional family, capable of caring for any animal for a lifetime. I do not recommend this organization due to the lack of professionalism demonstrated. There are many professional breeders, rescues, and shelters to choose from. That show appreciation and respect to all prospective dog owners. I will obtain a dog from one of them, and also support others financially, rather than this organization. I do not recommend doing business with this rescue. read more

I have watched the amazing rescues Jennifer does for quite a few years now & I have to say I'm amazed at how wonderful & instrumental she has been in saving lives that would have nothing of not for this organization. I've watched dogs go from scared & aggressive to happy dogs knowing they're safe now. The amount of time, effort & money it takes to make sure they get the training & medical they need, I can't even fathom. I have 4 dogs of my own & I know first hand how expensive it is just in get care alone. Thank you to this rescue for saving the ones that would have nothing without you!!! This is one of the best rescues out there. They take in hard cases, bottle babies that nobody else will help and dogs that other rescues pass on. Jen is a great person and an amazing rescuer. If someone is not chosen to adopt, it's for a valid reason. Jen is so careful about placing dogs with the right people for each dog. This is a solid rescue and I recommend them highly. read more

I would like to thank Angi for rescuing my baby boy. He's been with me for over a year now. Goose is a paraplegic Bulldog (spina bifida) who was initially rescued by Angi (at a few weeks old) before being transported to a special needs rescue in Colorado. Although I eventually adopted him through Moe Moe's, Angi had the heart to take him in and care for him when he needed a mama the most. After we got in touch she sent me pictures and videos of him in premie diapers and taking such wonderful care of him. I will always be grateful to this amazing woman and rescue. I have attended several adotion events and am quite impressed at the diligence of the rescue in adoptions, application process and am very happy that they are very clear and up front as to the process with each and every pup in there event. Furthermore, I have as well followed several pups that were rescued, treated, vetted and adopted with wonderful results. Each pup was accurately represented and in the case of some with possible deformaties from birth, this was completely presented in each case. NO fine print. ALL up front! Each and every step is described to potential adopters, visitors and the such. Transparency is followed completely. Kudos to Bullies and Buddies. I have to agree with the others who posted a 1 star rating this rescue group run by Jennifer is in great need of better leadership. I recently applied to adopt one of their dogs and was very well qualified to adopt the dog.I had a phone interview and she acted like she agreed with all my qualifications to adopt the dog.I had a meet and greet scheduled and she cancelled on me.She responded the day of the meet and greet and said to reach out to her later to reschedule when I did she ghosted me.Today she finally got back to me and said the dog was adopted.She had previously turned down 5 other families prior to me because she eventually wanted an adult household which I am. I recommend anyone wanting to adopt a dog from this rescue look elsewhere it will save you time and disappointment which they don't seem to care about. read more

Went looking for a dog to adopt and was sad to find people there that were more interested in wasting peoples time than anything else. We spoke to the woman in charge and she was not helpful at all, in fact she was only short spoken with us and gave us as little information as possible about the dog we were interested in. When we asked about the process they told us to look online. Never interested in talking over the process or seeing how good of a home we'd be for the dog. Sometime after we found out that they had already placed the dog in a home, which was the reason for them not wanting to talk to us about the animal. Truly disappointing since we'd only heard good things online. While we were there we met people working under the main woman in charge and even they agreed that the woman was rude and is often like that to people. If you're looking for transparency or people willing to help you won't find it here, and I suggest giving another adoption company your business and support. read more

This is such an amazing rescue. They take such great care of their dogs. Their team is always very friendly and welcoming at their adoption events at Rock and Brews. I love that they focus on pitties and give dogs a chance who otherwise would be forgotten. Jennifer Rosen runs this rescue with her entire heart. She cares so much about each and every dog and it's so important to her to find the very best family for each of them. This is not a first-come-first-serve pet store. It's a rescue. And these dogs are like family. And only the best human families will be selected because that's what these dogs deserve. I have worked with, assisted in, and am in awe of the work they do. I'm quite surprised at some of the reviews here, but I will move past them and speak as 1 person who has been a supporter of Bullies and Buddies. I have followed, visited and fostered for them. The work they do is 24/7 wonderful. Without Bullies and Buddies doing what they do best we would literally have hundreds(if not more) pets on the streets, in the shelters and elsewhere. I think their dedication to getting animals adopted is great and the time they spend doing so. However, I think they are misleading with the information they provide, poor or complete lack of communication and follow through on Jennifer's part. I won't be looking for a dog through this organization any time soon, but I wish them the best of luck. I had heard great things about them as well... such a bummer. I stopped by just to check out the dogs today as I have been the last few weeks. I've gotten to know some of the volunteers, Jennifer & of course all those gorgeous dogs they save. Jennifer has always had a kind word, & has made the time to approach me & begin polite conversation. She is extremely knowledgeable of every one of the dogs she has in her care & her loving & compassionate nature comes out every time she speaks of her dogs. Considering many of the dogs in rescue groups come from shelters, Jennifer has done an amazing job working with these dogs & making sure each & every one of them are ready before placing them in their forever home. From what I've seen, she is strict on where she places them. When I asked her why, she simply answered "because it's forever ". She couldn't have answered it any better in my opinion. It's quite apparent how much she loves these dogs & all the work, time, effort & money she puts into every single one. I can't wait to move forward & adopt one of her precious beauties soon. I absolutely Love what they do. No dogs left in kennels or stuck in a yard. They all are in foster homes untill they find there forever homes. They take in a lot of dogs that need lots of medical treatment that nobody else wants no matter the financial PR emotional costs. They have a trainer who also temperament tests and trains as needed. They are Very careful of where their dogs end up too. People complain because they can't get one of their dogs but there are always a good reason. They make sure that dogs won't be left alone in a yard or kennel all day and that each animal and adoptive family is a perfect fit. Dogs end up staying with their new families that way. It pisses people off sometimes because they don't get a dog but they are very picky. Thankfully! The director Jen is an amazing person who gives of herself both physically and emotionally to every single dog. They have a True love of all dogs big and small, young or old, healthy or sickly. This is how all animals who don't have a forever home should be treated. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My husband and I inquired over a couple of weeks to meet one of their dogs available. After a few failed attempts through email, we decided to go to their public adoption event to meet the dog. Once we were there, we met the dog and spent probably 2 hours with him. We talked to the foster dad who gave us all the information about the puppy. We tried to talk to the main lady Jennifer, who didn't give us the time of day. We asked another lady about how we should go about adopting the dog and she was so incredibly rude it was disgusting. She told us to apply online and wait and see. We asked if they'll let us know if the dog were inquiring about was adopted by someone else and she said no, the dogs go to the best home. How would they know who has the best home without interviewing all of the homes that are interested? I can't believe this is run by so many rude and non-communicative people. I will NEVER adopt from this agency. read more
