I went to see The Odyssey tonight since I wanted a true IMAX experience and was extremely disappointed by the service we received from one member of your staff in particular. Her name is Gloria. Since you all don't have any assigned seating, I held our seats while my wife went to the concession stand first. When my wife came back with her items, I then proceeded to go get my concession items. As I'm walking down, I get a text from my wife saying that a concessions person came in the theater and told her she didn't pay for her items, and asked me to pay at the register. As I'm checking out, with tap mind you, my first attempt doesn't work on your scanner. I tried a second time and it goes through. I then told the cashier that I needed to pay for my wife a items as well and the cashier informed me that all items have been rang up and there weren't any missed payments. I said ok and went back to my seat. About 20 minutes later, the woman who I now know as Gloria comes into the theater raising her voice to my wife and saying that she needed to pay for food. She says this twice in a raised voice. I go down and get it taken care of. The lack of customer service skills by Gloria is beyond ridiculous. For one, communicate to your staff that someone is going to be coming down to pay, or how about this, let your customer know the transaction didn't go through before you let them walk away. It's beyond embarrassing to have someone berate you in a packed theater for ultimately a mistake on the theaters part. Side note, can you all get some other food options and teach Gloria how to handle customer service issues instead of raising her voice at patrons. read more

Came to watch Mesmerica XL. What a wonderful production. I left so relaxed and really present at the same time. I do recommend it while it lasts as it is amazing. Coming to the Bullock museum is such a plus being in the city, places like this need to exist for people to enjoy culture in community. My son really liked coming here. We had a blast! read more

One of the best movie experiences I've had in Austin, Texas. I got the chance to watch the new F1 movie in the IMAX Bullock Museum theatre. Boy it was a joyride. The experience was amazing. The sound quality was good and the screen was so large that you sometimes have to move your head towards different directions. This attests to the fact that everything is large in Texas. The theatre had an attached parking garage but also had ample street parking around the venue. I wish they had more seats, and more spacious bathrooms because we spent a lot of time waiting to use the bathrooms. read more

This was my second time at the Museum Theatre. Watched the Mesmerica XL Showing both times. Amazing. The layout of the theatre was a tad like a college auditorium, only more comfortable. Tickets are a good value for Imax shows. They do charge an online transaction fee with each ticket. Unfortunately, there is no advanced seat selection, so you might want to line up in advance of the showing so you can get your favorite seats. There are a lot of seats though! Parking in the garage next door is not free during the day ($15) but there is no fee after 5PM. The Bullock is located downtown so you have to figure out your parking situation before you go if your showing is before 5PM. The concessions have limited offerings. The seats in the theatre are comfortable, the screen is huge and the sound is awesome! Highly recommend seeing a big cinematic movie in an Imax if you're able. read more

As the Capitol city of Texas, this Bob Bullock IMAX is like the Spirit Airlines of the airline industry. Tightly packed like sardines. I'm 5'10" and barely have enough knee room. So highly do not recommend. Don't waste your money. You'll walk out of here with a sore neck as I did from looking up at the screen as close to the screen as everyone is. Awful. Texas should be ashamed of itself. And so it's so not true. Not everything is bigger in Texas. Don't believe it, come look inside this imax. read more

Amazing big screen! The screen size is huge that makes you immerse into the experience. The sound is great too. Only con I have with this theater is that they do not have designated seats. Due to this, you would find many people saving some seats and quite a number of seats get wasted. I really hope they fix this. read more

Came to see Oppenheimer. Big screen is advertised. Was really looking forward to seeing this one on big screen before it left theaters. So it was indeed a large screen, but the theater was one of my least favorites because it was freezing. I've not been here before, but it appears many other attendees had, since more than a few I saw brought blankets with them. I guess this is fine if you are in the know. I did bring a jacket, as I always do with movie theaters, as they tend to be cold. The bullock iMac was next level cold, though. You need a blanket or perhaps bring a thermos of hot cocoa. I like finding a way to beat the Texas heat, but found the temp here unpleasantly cold. The sound and screen were indeed great. Seats were old school theater style, nothing luxurious, but what I expected. Clean theater, space and bathrooms. Lots of parking. However, I will only go there again with a parka. read more

Wow that's a TRUE IMAX experience! Right when we walked into the theater, my brother remarked that this screen is BIG. We watched Wonder Woman 1984, and the giant immersive screen combined with booming, in your face sound system really took it to another level! By the end of the movie, the highlight of our experience was definitely the facility! (Which possibly says something about that particular movie...) Specifics: We got to the theater about an hour before the 4PM showtime and were the 3rd party in line. At 3:16PM they started letting us into theater to be seated. There is no reserved seating here. We went on 12/26/2020 and every other row was blocked out. The staff instructed us to pick whatever row and move as close to the center as possible. After we sat down, staff came over to tape up the 3 seats to the left and right of us to enforce social distancing. I felt very safe during this visit, and also enjoyed having this room to put my jacket and belongings. Of note, the theater GETS COLD. Bring a decent jacket. read more

Hands down the best IMAX there is. Huge theater with immersive sound. 3D looks better at this theater than any other I have been to. We have seen Thor and Black Panther in 3D and both were stunning. This is not a great place to eat and view a movie. We go to Flix Brewhouse or iPic for that experience. If you want the most amazing pure movie viewing experience, this is the theater. read more

Not very customer forward. Concession not open until movie already underway. If seeing a second movie that requires 3d glasses, you can't just collect them before your first movie. You are required to exit the theater, grab the glasses, and then reenter theater. Could be better set up for people with mobility issues. read more

An authentic IMAX experience, with an immersive screen and sound. Also at great comparable prices. When watching a movie you really do catch all the little details that you may not find at another type of screening. I watched Infinity War with my friend for a second showing, and you really do see all the facial animations and details they put into a lot of scenes. The theater room itself is very clean and tidy. The only problem I'd say is that you need to get there early if the movie you are seeing is very popular due to no reserved seating and on a first come first serve basis. read more

Honestly this is the best theater I've been to in Texas. It's HUGE and amazing to watch any movie here. I should have come more often when I was in college at UT. It was stupid of me not to come here more often because of how immersive of an experience it is. They have an insanely big screen and lots of seats. When I've been there is usually a line to get into the theater, but it goes super fast, so if you get there and there are tons of people in front of you, I wouldn't worry. There are plenty of seats and the line goes by quickly. I recommend just getting your digital ticket scanned for entry. Easier and helps the environment! I typically shy away from IMAX theaters because I'm afraid that I'll get dizzy, but I didn't feel sick in this theater for one second. read more

Movie experience whether be it 2D or 3D is always 5/5. The parking is free here after 5 pm. Since I work at downtown, this is the perfect place for movie for me.I usually just land up after my work hours. And often you will find Marvel/different characters dressed up on the premier day(for special movies). I LOVE IMAX. The screen is huge! The sound system is great. We went here to see Interstellar b/c I can't imagine seeing that movie ANYWHERE else. It was worth it. We went to a semi-late showing (9:45pm) on a Saturday night. We found free meter parking right behind the building. We also got there early so we walked around for a bit to the area by the Blanton Museum. It was a very nice evening. We walked towards the theater about 20 minutes before the start of the movie to get in line. They have it roped now so that it isn't too spread out. They only have bottled drinks (soda/.water) The popcorn was meh. It's definitely not alamo but for that size screen. It's worth it. If you plan to come here at a more popular time, make sure you get here early so you can pick a good seat. read more

Get here early. The screen is almost too big and if you are not in the very last row... its massive. We saw Mission Impossible here on Saturday and I felt as if I was part of the movie. I should have waited for the following weekend to let the crowd and lines die down but I had to see it. It was better than I expected! the place is clean, the sound is great, the vibrations make you feel as if you are really part of the movie. I'd definitely go here again... except.... I would double check the movie that you are seeing is actually shot for IMAX though, bc we saw jurassic world and it wasn't shot for IMAX, so the full affect wasn't really there. The seats suck and aren't very spacious for your legs (and i am not at all tall) so that's why it's only worth it if the movie is a legit imax film. Also the system for going to the bathroom during a feature is super crappy. it's so far away and you have to miss so much if the show. read more

I went to go watch IT and I shit my pants because the screen was so big and the clown popped out of nowhere. Especially that projector scene, I jumped backwards into my seat and cracked my back in the process as I hollered in surprise and flung my chips into the air. I love this theatre and could watch any movie, any day, any time, with anyone, here, for hours. I don't know what it is but the giant 3D screen captivates me. Saw "The Hobbit and the Desolation of ----" (whatever that dragon dude's name is) yesterday. I wanted to sit through a second showing. Mesmerizing. And "Flight of the Butterflies" was stunning. Millions of butterflies fill the screen and appear to fly everywhere you are sitting. It's $10 a person and truly worth it. I wonder who wore my 3D glasses before me....or maybe I don't want to know. They were a teensy bit off and one part was kind of sticky. Thankfully I had a wet wipe to remove the offensive stickiness. read more

To the Alamo fanboys and fangirls: "EARMUFFS" (Not that I don't love the Alamo. It's my go-to spot for "regular" movies without special effects.) Watching movies at the Bullock IMAX is great! The screen is fantastic, far more immersive than normal theaters. For me, though, even better than the visuals is the sound. IMAX sound cannot be beat -- period. For movies with effects, you're doing yourself a disservice by not going to the IMAX. And beware ye travelers of less fortunate IMAX theaters! IMAX has passed a smaller format certification and it's not the same as having a five story screen in front of you. We just watched Star Wars in 3D IMAX last night and it was wonderful as were all the many previous films I've seen there. read more

Absolutely AMAZING! This place has the biggest screen in Texas, and it shows! I love coming here to see movies for a second time if I really enjoyed it, and you get a really great experience. Also WOW, the sound system rocks! No complaints at all about the screen or audio. I don't know if they can do anything about this, but the seating here SUCKS. You better use the bathroom before watching the movie, because trying to go during the middle of it is impossible. The seats are REALLY close to each other, and even if you're a really skinny person, it feels like you have to squeeze against everyone sitting down in order to get out. Plus, if you sit anywhere near the side, you're really not getting a good view of the screen at all. You have to show up to the screening early and get a good spot in line, otherwise your seats will be in a really bad spot. The seats themselves aren't that comfortable either. Again, I don't know if this is something they can fix given how the room itself is designed, but it would be nice if they at least replaced the chairs to something more relaxing. All that aside, I still enjoy coming here. You can't get a bigger screen in Texas and any good movie becomes a GREAT one in IMAX! read more
