Kinder milkshake and Dutch cookie milkshake
Anica L.

This place is the stoner munchies of my junior high dreams. The milkshakes are incredible. They're so excessive and delicious. Could only drink half of my Kinder milkshake but I wanted to drink it all! The curly fries and hot dog were just ok- nothing exceptional, but it was definitely a fun place to go after partaking in some Amsterdam fun.

Would you take a look at this spread??

Wow! WHAT a dining experience. Who knew hot dogs could be this good while also being Instagrammable? One of my favorite things about Amsterdam is how Westernized the city feels. Other than the herring sandwiches, all the food feels very familiar. As soon as I saw a picture of Bulls and Dogs I had to make a stop for myself especially for a milkshake. Now I don't remember the specifics for what I got but I'll include a picture which will entice most to order at least something!

Luxurious dog (truffle and mushrooms) and Onion rings

Beware, the service here is EXTREMELY SLOW! It took 45 minutes to get 2 hot dogs and some fries, even though only 3 tables were taken at the time. The place is usually very crowded. Mac and cheese waffle was AMAZING! I wish this was a bigger dish. 5/5 Hot dogs are very good. Unique, well made, not too big. 5/5 Onion rings were good, though a bit too salty and too thin. 4/5 Milkshakes are striking. Quite an undertaking to finish them, but good to treat yourself once in a while. 4/5

I'll admit that I never planned on stopping for food when walking around, but the space cake was kicking in full time and I had a serious case of munchies. I had a massive craving for a milkshake and Yelp found this place for me when I searched. This restaurant proved to be a excellent stop at grabbing some quick grub for the rest of my walk through Amsterdam. When walking in there's this unusual plastic curtains which I thought was kinda weird but the place is pretty damn nice, but really small. There were already several parties of people here, seating was very limited. Their menu consists of typical pub fare, burgers, hot dogs, fried foods and delicious milkshakes. A hotdog in a freshly made pretzel bun was all too tempting to pass up for someone with serious hunger pangs. Their Coney Island dog (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bulls-and-dogs-amsterdam-3?select=nK6-TBJIk0AKW3UAVr1e7w&reviewid=ns-YHoLqfRVC-8LZRBdW9) will set you back 8 Euro and came with great tasting halal chicken meat, mayo, crispy onions and pickles. Oh man, this was one damn good hot dog, the pretzel bun was soft and fresh, the mayo sauce delicious and the crispy onions were great texture on top. Then they brought out my Chocolate Chip Cookie milkshake (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bulls-and-dogs-amsterdam-3?select=NWRCRJRn1weDMiq7AwiYcw&reviewid=ns-YHoLqfRVC-8LZRBdW9w) and I was absolutely floored at how big this thing was, holy crap. How was I supposed to finish this? Didn't even know where to start. Challenge accepted though, I finished that entire thing by myself. It tasted even better than it looks, it definitely hit the spot for my sugary munchie cravings. This milkshake was heaven for me at this point in time. Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a hot dog or an excellent milkshake. While this review might be a bit bias, the food was amazing. Service was great too.

I wish we would have eaten here!! We came for the milkshakes which were yummy but the food looked delicious. It's a small quaint little place. Good for meeting up with friends or hanging out. They had some fun hip hop playing. Very cool vibe. I would come back to eat if ever in town again.

Luxurious Dog: Pork, mushrooms, truffle, and hazelnuts

The place itself is rather small and a line formed outside for a table. I ordered the Luxurious Dog for 8 euro. It was good, but the pork hotdog itself wasn't very big. If the pork was bigger, it would have opened space for more toppings on top. The truffle and mushrooms weren't incredibly delicious to make the dog worthwhile (and I love truffle and mushrooms). For instance, HEMA sells a "Luxe Hotdog" for 2.75€ that has more toppings and is just as big. The sweet potato fries were pretty good and the milkshakes looked amazinggg (even though I didn't get one this time). The service was good despite only one server being serving over 8 tables. I'd go back for the milkshakes.

Dutch Cookie Wookie Milkshake

You'll come here for the hot dogs, but don't skip out on the boozy milkshake and waffle fries! They ended up being the real winners during our visit to Bulls & Dogs. My friends and I came here for lunch and it wasn't what we expected. The decor is modern, hip hop was playing in the background and there was a back bar with shelves of hard A. I can get down with that. My friends and I shared the waffle fries, curly fries, a Dutch Cookie Wookie Milkshake with whiskey. And for my hot dog, I ordered the German Wiener, which was a beef dog with currysauce, sauerkraut and and crispy onion. All of the dogs came with a pretzel roll. The food looked amazing when it came out. For one of the bar tables we took, I wasn't even sure all of the food would fit on the table, but we somehow made it happen. The Dutch Cookie Wookie milkshake was outta this world! Lots of whiskey was to be had with this creamy milkshake. Along with the heavy booze was vanilla ice cream, caramel and stroopwaffel, which is primarily why I chose this type of milkshake. I'm normally a chocolate fan, but the Dutch Cookie Wookie was amazing. Waffle and curly fries were both sooo tasty, as they tasted like they were double fried, which made it extra yummy. I also liked that it included truffle mayo to go with. But the primary dish, what Bulls & Dogs is known for was unfortunately, a disappointment. My beef hot dog was overcooked, so the texture was not chewy. It was hard to even cut with a knife because of how overcooked it was. The size of the sausage was also surprisingly smaller than expected. Most of what I tasted with the German Wiener item were sauerkraut, bread and onion. In fact, the pretzel roll was not as soft as I had hoped and didn't taste much of the pretzel flavor that makes pretzel bread so good. I would not order this again. Maybe it's worth trying another hot dog. Regardless, we enjoyed our lunch here. I'm glad that we had a milkshake and fries to go with our hot dogs, which truly won me over. I'm just surprised that I didn't like the hot dog as much as I should, especially given everything else was fantastic.

This was a great place for dinner. We bought 5 different hot dogs and shared them. Delicious!! The shake was the icing on the dinner.

This place was an awesome stop for dinner. Bought 5 dogs and shared them all. The shake was amazing. Highly recommend this place.

Very tasty and great service! It was a tad pricey but the portions are quite large. We got a chicken hot dog and the rocket + truffle fries. Definitely get a milkshake (you can add booze too). Work off the calories by exploring the street and stopping into shops - amazing neighborhood!

If you are in Amsterdam, you must stop by! The pictures on yelp are true to taste. It was quite hard to decide on one. That's a lie. Whenever I see the word truffles I will order it. But I would've loved to try the entire menu so I recommend going with friends. I went solo and ordered the luxurious dog. The truffle sauce wasn't so strong but apparent. I didn't taste much of any mushrooms but it was still so tasty. The pretzel bun was so warm and the texture was perfect. I haven't had a hot dog in ages. I also loved that they put all the toppings under the hot dog and put the sauce on top so it was way more neat. The portion was perfect for a snack. I couldn't help but to notice the pretty milkshakes on the customers table. I would've ordered it but I had 3 rounds of desserts before coming here. Talk about sugar overload! They also have lemon water available free of charge! I took my hot dog to go but if I had company I would have loved to stay. I'm still not confident eating solo in restaurants.. Service was fast - took about 5 minutes. Restaurant felt clean. They accept credit cards! They also have veggie dogs!

My friend studies here and we came because I was craving hot dogs and mac n cheese! The mac and cheese is a pretty substantial bowl for how much it is (2 euro) and its nutty, truffley and mmmmm. I got the Chicken coney island hot dog and that delicious as well, really mayo-ey and the pretzel bun was top notch ;-) Only taking a star off because the girl took about 30 min to take our order :-( Other than that, superb stuff!

Mac and cheese, onion rings, and sweet potato fries

My friends and I saw this place in a Tasty video and just knew we had to stop by during our visit. The restaurant itself is very small, but has great atmosphere. The wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The food itself was just okay-- we got the sample platter of 5 hot dogs. Keep in mind these are definitely not typical American hot dogs. They come with lots of creative toppings, but most of them lacked flavor. The 3 cheese dog was by far the best. On the other hand, the onion rings and sweet potato fries were amazing. Definitely stop by if your are in the area and try for yourself!

The presentation is great, the food is mediocre. Our group had shakes, hot dogs, a burger and the Mac and cheese, all of it was only ok.

This place was super packed this afternoon when we visited and the single employee working was definitely having a busy day, but she was banging out orders fast and her effort was greatly appreciated. The menu here has maybe ten or so fully loaded hot dogs to try and I settled on going with "The Luxurious Dog" which was a pork wiener, mushrooms, truffle mayo, and roasted nuts on top for an extra little crunch. This hot dog was absolutely delicious and if I didn't have to fit 50 more places in me in my 3 days here, I probably would have ordered another. Overall, Bulls and Dogs is a fantastic choice for lunch if you are at Foodhallen and a definite recommendation from me. Although I may not return during this trip, I may have to in the future

While in Amsterdam on business, I was able to find Bulls and Dogs near my hotel. Upon arrival, I found that this place is in a food hall. As I searched for Bulls and Dogs, my interest was piqued with other options. I saw noodles, chicken, sushi, desserts, and more. I was on a mission, though. I finally located the local hot dog for which I made the trip. I ordered the classic dog. At first glance, the dog was like the passenger side mirror on a car. Objects are closer than they appear. My dog was a pork dog with a pretzel bun. They default to onion crisps and ketchup (don't revoke my hot dog card - I did not in any way shape or form ask for ketchup -- I know in Chicago I would get dis-barred.) The dog itself was good - it came out hot and was made to order. Maybe I am too instilled in my religious hot dog beliefs - I really couldn't get past the ketchup. While it was good, it did not wow me. I didn't save room for a different dog so I will have to come back and try other options. Overall, solid pick with this place.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

Lunch Kiosk is an outdoor stand where you order at the counter and take a seat at one of the outdoor tables nearby. Based off the menu, Lunch Kiosk seemed to be known for their various hot dogs with different toppings, so I ordered a hot dog with sauerkraut and fried onion. I think I would've liked the hot dog better had it been more simplified, as two of the elements of the hot dog were overbearing. The bun of the hot dog had a similar texture to a baguette, so it was super thick and hard to take a bite with the hot dog, which was unfortunate because the star of the meal was actually quite good. The hot dog tasted more like a kielbasa, so it had great, smoky flavor and was a thick sausage. But you can't taste much of it when the bun that's holding it is so much. Same with the fried onion. The fried onion should've really been more of a garnish, just to add some crunch with the finishing bite. But it was heavily topped on, so distracted from the sausage. I ended up tearing off most of the bread, to enjoy what I liked most about it - the sausage and sauerkraut. it's great that Lunch Kiosk is available for museum patrons and visitors of the area, especially when you have a full day of sightseeing in between the many museums. It offers food that's quick and cheap; but with that said, I find that more than anything Lunch Kiosk is convenient above anything else.
