    The BEST tiramisu
    Emma E.

Wow! This may be one of my new favorite restaurants in Charlottesville. I like Korean food already but haven't found KBBQ nearby so I am glad they opened and we got to try them. I would say in general the food is pretty high quality probably a 4-5/5 stars but the staffs friendly service definitely makes this a 5 star experience to dine here. Our server was personable and friendly and did an awesome job. The hosts were also very nice and someone else working I think likely the manager came to check on us as well and everyone was so so nice. We felt so welcomed. The service definitely takes it up a notch. The ambiance is modern and trendy and feels elevated. My partner noted how cute all of the utensils and bowls were lol. For the food we got the combination A for 2 which is basically just like the cheapest combo option for 2 people. We hadn't been before so we didn't feel the need to try something with more bells and whistles yet but likely would in the future. The combo A comes with 4 meats that are cooked one after another. You're served all your sides to start and the server can refill these while you eat. For two people, it is a LOOOTT of food. The banchans included broccoli (3/5) just kinda plain), pickled daikon (4/5), pickled collared greens (5/5), kimchi (2/5 - sorry, I like mine spicier!!), cucumber kimchi (4/5), pickled bean sprout (5/5) - and that's on top of the steamed rice, salad (5/5), egg soufflé (4/5), stew (5/5) and cheese corn (5/5). As you can tell, the majority of the sides were unbelievably delicious and well prepared. Each side is made in house and really only the broccoli felt kinda plain and even that had some sort of sesame oil on it. So none of the sides are just plain veggies you're getting fully seasoned carefully crafted food and LOTS of it. As for the meats, we thought they were quite good and went from our least favorite to our most. We started with the thinly sliced fatty beef brisket which, to be honest, was quite dry and a bit flavorless. It wasn't terrible but definitely was just kinda meh and needed the sauces they provided to elevate the flavor. This was maybe a 2-3/5. The next meat was the fatty pork belly. This was a 4/5. I don't LOVE pork belly as it is but to be honest this was seasoned and cooked quite well and I enjoyed it. The next two meats were totally amazing. The pork collar was my absolute favorite. Our server let us know that it can be a hard meat to cook and he did a fabulous job with it. Whatever the marinade was took it over the top and this came out perfectly tender, flavorful, and SUPER juicy! 10/5. I could eat this all day it was so good. The last meat was the spicy bulgogi and it was a 5/5. I loved it and my partner who is spice sensitive also liked it. A note on the spicy food - my partner cannot tolerate spice (yt man problems) and there were a number of things that did or could include spice. The only thing he couldn't eat because of spice issues was the spicy soy paste stew. Everything else (spicy bulgogi, kimchi, etc) was tolerable. So if you're worried about the spice level, don't be. The sauces provided were not spicy either. So, as far as the food went, we were very impressed. We also ordered drinks - I had pear juice which was kinda just 3/5. I didn't expect pulp so that's on me. My partner had the royal court cocktail. 5/5. This was pear with black tea and some spices and it was amazing! I couldn't keep eating it was so much food but my boyfriend didn't want to leave unless we tried dessert lol. So the server recommended the tiramisu and my boyfriend raised his eyebrows at me. This is one of my all time favorite desserts and so I am quite picky. The server said they make a Korean version with soy bean paste mochi and some other alterations. I was pretty skeptical because again I am super picky about traditional tiramisu as it is and I just in general don't love sweet stuff. This tiramisu I am not kidding it is a 10/5. This might be one of the best desserts I've ever had. I didn't really care for the mochi on top but the almond topping combined with the tiramisu was amazing. It has just the right amount of savory in the sweetness, the texture was perfect and the espresso flavor was nice and strong. Totally amazing. Our server told us that the servers who work here love it so much they had to be banned from buying it on their shifts because they would run out so often and I see why! I will dream about this dessert for many days to come... For two people with the combo drinks and dessert it came to about $150ish with taxes and tip. Totally worth it imo. It's definitely a nicer night out at the price point but you will not be disappointed. I am SO excited for the next time we come back! Thank you Bulpan for your awesome food and service - we are looking forward to forward to dining with you again. 감사합니다!

Atmosphere: I absolutely loved the restaurant's interior. The exposed brick walls paired with sleek stainless steel accents on the stoves and bowls create a modern yet cozy vibe. The layout feels thoughtful and inviting, making it a great spot for both date nights and small group dinners. Service: What sets Bulpan apart from most Korean BBQ spots is that the staff actually cooks the meats and chicken for you right at a stove near your table. It takes the pressure off and lets you fully enjoy the experience. They begin by arranging all the banchan (sides) and sauces beautifully across the table, and as each item finishes cooking, they serve it directly to you. The process feels attentive, seamless, and elevated. Food: We ordered Combo A for two and substituted the pork for the lemon & herb chicken. Every side dish was fresh and flavorful, and both the meat and chicken were perfectly marinated and cooked. The beef soup we were served was delicious. We asked for refills on lettuce and kimchi. The portions were generous, so you'll definitely leave feeling full and satisfied. Overall, Bulpan delivers great ambiance, attentive service, and delicious, high-quality Korean BBQ. I'd happily return!

Absolutely love this place! The food and service are all amazing. Different from many other K bbq place, they grill the meat for you so the meat taste the best and you get to enjoy your conversation with your fellows. Strongly recommended to make a reservation before you go. My favorite is the beef short rib, and also all of the starter veggies! They will refill those starter veggies for you till you ask them to stop! It might look a bit pricey but all of the meat comes with salad, soup, rice, and all of the starter veggies so there's a lot of stuff to eat. Totally worth it, and will recommend to my friends as well

Bulpan is always a good experience going here. The meat quality is pretty good for the area. The foods are always very well done. I would say it's a little pricey but well worth in the end. The service was really good. Even though it's normally packed, the waiters do their best to take our orders and such. The environment is always relaxing too. I enjoy the set up to where you have direct view of the cookings, we went as a group of 10 so seating might be a little tight, but it was still fun

As someone who grew up in Annandale, where Korean BBQ spots are everywhere, Bulpan blows every other place out of the water. The staff are top-notch, and the quality of the food is outstanding. All their side dishes are made fresh in-house, and the meat quality is truly exceptional. My partner and I go there every week, and it never disappoints. We always come back for their Kkot Sal (a must-try!), along with the brisket and pork belly, which are consistently fantastic. If you're in the area, or even just passing through, do yourself a favor and check out Bulpan. You won't regret it.

    Neuk Gan Sal (Rib Fingers)

We came in for dinner on a sunday and it was decently full. We were promptly seated and greeted by our server. The setting is a little different from typical korean bbqs. There is a center aisle where all the grills are and the servers grill your meat for you there next to your table. It's kind of like a bar but for preparing and grilling meat for you instead of alcoholic drinks. There is no option to grill your own meat. The menu is a la carte with a nice selection of meat. We got the Kkot Sal (Prime Rib Rich in Marbling), YangNyum Galbi (Sweet Soy Marinated Beef Short Rib), and Neuk Gal Sal (Rib Fingers). The Kkot Sal is the best of the three meats we got. It had great marbling and an explosion of richness of the meat. We had it prepared medium rare and it melted right in our mouth. 100% would recommend trying this cut. The YangNyum Galbi was also pretty good, but a bit too salty. You have to eat a lot of rice with it. The meat was tender. With the marinade, you can't really taste the meat. The Neuk Gal Sal was okay. There was no marinade on this. The meat was decently tender but a there is some chewiness due to the connective tissue. The service was okay. We were asked once for refill on the side dishes and never asked for refill on drinks. Other than serving us our meat, the server didn't really come by for anything else. The menu prices are on the more expensive side. Overall, it was a decent asian food which is especially harder to find in Charlottesville.

Absolutely incredible! We are inexperienced K-BBQers, and our server was great at educating us throughout our meal, and answering our questions. We ordered Combo B (for 2), along with some oyster mushrooms and it was so much food! We could have easily fed our kids as well, if they had been with us. The place seems kid friendly - we saw kids there, and they have a high chair. We will absolutely be back! The food was delicious, it was laid back and great for conversation. A really nice meal.

Great food, great service. You order your food, the guy takes your order and he serves all the food and cooks all your food in front of you. The galbi was very tasty and not over sweet. If you wanted more sweetness, they had dipping sauces that also had additional marinade. The banchan was solid. The kimchi jeon (pancake) was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The steamed egg was yummy. Hip, warehouse feel and very comfortable. Great place for Korean BBQ!!

Pro: clean interior, friendly staff, order ordering, online reservation, moderate size parking lot. Con: no all you can eat. I been eyeing to come and dine here for while due to the many positive reviews so, I came here today for my B-day dinner. I set up an online reservation as the restaurant didn't start to get busy around 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. We decided to go with the combo A set which comes with Soy Bean Paste Stew, Steamed Egg, and Corn Cheese. The set A is recommend for two people and I confirm the portion size served here will leave you feeling full by the end of the meal. The meat here is of higher quality compare to a normal kbbq. You also get a lot of vegetables and those are free refills as needed. Another positive thing is here the food is cook by the waiter so you have more time to eat and socialize instead of cooking it yourself. I would like to give a shoutout to our waiter Lance, he was very friendly and attentive to our needs which enhance our dining experience here. Lastly, I wanted to thank the staff for going extra by offering me a cake at the end of my meal to celebrate my birthday. All in all, I would highly recommend anyone in the Charlottesville area to come in and try some nice kbbq.

This was one of the best places for a meal near an EV charging station that we have ever visited. When we have to charge the car, we like to time it around lunch so we have time to get a meal while the car refuels. It was an easy walk to Bulpan. Once we got there, we were greeted and immediately seated. Okay, it was close to 2:00 p.m. so there weren't that many people. I have been to many a Korean bbq joint. You normally choose your meats, they bring them and start the cooking process on the burners on your table. They come back in a few minutes to turn the meat and dish it out to you. This does allow you to turn the meat if you wanted to. But at Bulpan, the server does this all for you behind a counter. It seemed a little inconvenient because he was tall and somethings sort of blocked him but he managed. We had a great selection of ban chan. Some items I have not tried before such as the cheese corn in a mini cast iron skillet. We also got a steamed egg which in some places, you have to order separately. All was good. For our meats, we selected Combo A for 2. This included thinly sliced beef brisket, spicy marinated sliced beef ribeye (which they made non-spicy for us), pork belly, and marinated pork collar. We were very pleased with the amount and selection of meats. Everything was cooked perfectly. We had a very filling lunch after a tour of Monticello in Charlottesville. Service was fantastic. I would love to come back!

Excellent Korean BBQ has reached Charlottesville...long awaited. The plusses: - short ribs were excellent. Quality meat, cooked to order, to match equivalents at other high end K BBQ in US and Seoul or Incheon - great restaurant layout. Atmosphere, airy space, and you won't have to do laundry to clear the cooking smoke from your clothes (like another restaurant) - fancy and upscale, in quality and price-- a splurge for sure. - yes, you can get beer and soju, and soju in your beer, as it should be The minuses: - it's expensive. Which means eating here becomes an 'occasion', rather than a more casual dinner, though dress and atmosphere are casual. It's a splurge. And if it wasn't quite so, I'd be back, often. But it costs, to offer this level, and I accept that. - hope they expand their banchan choices even more. Skip the beef bulgogi. Mundane. Splurge on the higher quality cuts. Didn't have a chance to order from the flipside of the menu, other typical dishes, but intrigued to return for those. I've chased Korean cuisine all over Seoul, Incheon, Boston, NYC, Northern Virgina. I hope this place stays full and establishes itself--long awaited in C'ville.

I think this place has the most decent Korean food in the area. Still the kimchi is mediocre, but everything else was decent.
