The food is superb and nice sized portions. Service was excellent. Desserts are home made and brownie sundae is excellent as well.

I like most of the menu items; ribs, brisket, pulled pork and side dishes. Good salads, fries , etc. My complaint is with the 1/2 chicken platter. The chicken was not " smoked" , nor cooked on a bbq. I was served a " roasted" checken with bbq sauce applied to the out side. The skin was rubbery, not good. I wish they would pay as much attention to detail, as the other menu items. read more

The food was so good. Got the wahoo sampler platter, all the food was good the wings were my favorite and the Texas Twinkies were so much better than I was expecting. All the sauces were amazing too. Service was a little slow but otherwise good. Went over to the bar side after for a drink and the prices literally can't be beat. So reasonable. read more

Our family ended up here for dinner after a thunderstorm knocked out power to our house. We all had pulled pork sandwiches and several sides. Everything was good but the standouts for us were the mac & cheese and pulled pork. The mac & cheese tasted homemade and had a layer of melted, browned cheese on top. The pulled pork was really good quality meat, smoked to perfection, and well cleaned so there wasn't a ton of fat but it was still incredibly moist. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. read more

Been eating here for a little over a year now. Went recently at the food just didn't have the same taste. Brisket had a little too much fat on it, fries were a bit greasy. However Service was awesome as always. Side note: The new menus are awful. There are now loaded with advertisements that are a complete eye sore to look at. Totally understand supporting local business, but maybe put it all on a separate page or on a wall somewhere. I'm a huge fan of Wahoo BBQ. I first experienced them while they were still in the food truck. A bit on the pricier side but the food was always delicious. Well they recently expanded their space and menu. Space: They completely redid the inside of what used to be Dogwood. Atmosphere gets 10/10. They really gave that place the facelift it desperately needed. The first couple of weeks was a bit chaotic but I realize they kept all of Dogwoods staff and completely revamped their menu so I'm taking this into account on this review. Menu: they kept some of Dogwood's favorites (chicken wrap, buffalo wrap, etc) as well as significantly expanding their own menu. Pricing finally became more affordable (yay) and the menu is about an 8/10. I say this because the buffalo wrap is not very good and needs some work. Some of their original items are still on the pricey side. The smoked wings are to die for. I could eat 40 by myself. That's no joke. So one night i decided to have a cheat meal. Let me tell you about the Cowgirl HOLY COW. Sliced brisket, coleslaw, white lightning, and an onion ring on a toasted bun . I went into a food coma and became part of my couch after devouring it. This place has a quieter section to the left when you walk in, but if you want a more lively experience pivot to the right size. I'm a fan of Wahoo BBQ! Located in Palmyra, the menu offers pulled pork BBQ, brisket, pulled chicken BBQ, smoked wings, and ribs. Sides include mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and green beans. The hubs and I were in town, and we decided to try out their BBQ to-go. It was highly recommended to put the order in online, as some meats do run out quickly! For example, when we got there, all the chicken (pulled and wings) and the ribs were unavailable! We ordered the brisket, the pulled pork BBQ, mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and the green beans (gotta try them all!). The brisket was super delicious! It was so moist, juicy, and just literally broke apart from being so tender! The flavor was SO GOOD, as it had that wonderful smoky taste to it, with some crispy bits on the exterior, and had the right amount of fat ratio. The pulled pork BBQ was okay, as it was a little bland and dried out, but the brisket was definitely the focal point! While most of the sides were forgettable, I did like the baked beans as it was thick, hearty, and savory. The staff here were so welcoming and friendly! They also sell chips and drinks, as well as promote local items (like coffee, chocolates, and baked goods!). There are some tables set out off to the side if you wanted to dine al fresco, and plenty of parking in their gravel lot. Our order consisted of: 2 Meat Platter (Brisket and Shredded Chicken) - full of flavor, moist and delicious. We tried quite a few items and the brisket was our favorite. Rib Platter - dry-rubbed ribs were well spiced, tender, and fell off the bone. My niece is a a very picky rib connoisseur and she loved them. Decent BBQ, as well as sweet potato fries... the true gem of this place is the servers. They are outgoing, friendly, and kind. A 10 pound butt is $14... I need out sandwich with a drink and sweet potato fries is $14.... I understand brisket and ribs are much more expensive, but even checking on the wholesale shouldn't cost that much ... I called a couple of days ahead to ask, and they were very helpful and welcoming. When our group arrived, they took our drink orders immediately. Definitely a good option for barbecue if you live out in palmyra territory or nearby. We got a family meal for takeaway during COVID times, and it satisfied the three of us: me, husband and toddler. Food came out quick even with a long line, and soon after we got our food someone came out and said they'd sold out, so that must be a good sign. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. The sides were classic and tasty, the price for buns is ridiculous but that's how most of these places are if you're getting a pint or so of meat and sides to take away, they're just tryna make a buck (literally $1 per cheap store bought bun). Decided to give this place a second try, but it was just as bad as the first time. Everything, from the mushy onion rings, to the coleslaw that had been soaked in some sort of revolting liquid, was inedible. The meats have no BBQ sauce on them whatsoever. They don't even include little containers of sauce to add on your own; it's just dry, smoked meat. The appetizers are just awful, as well. The barbecue is good, it's kind of generic and it's like Moz barbecue places nowadays they don't really pick a style they cook the meat and then let you sauce at the table. But anybody that likes good North Carolina style knows that it needs to be seasoned with the sauce as it's cold. And if you're going to do good barbecue of any kind Pick a style and go with it. Being from eastern North Carolina, I would say good bbq is something we are known for. That being said I have become accustomed to quality bbq as there are many options. I ordered the platter with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The brisket was dry which was disappointing. The ribs were decent but un remarkable. The pulled pork was cooked well but it almost appeared that something after the fact as they were covered in something but not sure what it was. I also got a burger and fries that were alright. The seasoning on the fries was light and barely noticeable. I also got Mac and cheese and hush puppies as a side. The hush puppies were really good as well as the Mac and cheese. My suggestion on the Mac and cheese is to not add a glob of cheese on top of the already tasty Mac and cheese. The excess cheese takes away from the dish. The service was great and almost the best part. There is an attached bar but I did not venture into it as it was extremely loud. I would return in the future only to see if any improvements were made. read more
