I always get compliments & asked where I go! The salons vibe is boujee but inviting & relaxing! Definitely will be my forever Omaha hair place. I scheduled an appointment at Bungalow/8 Hairdressing and arrived on time, expecting a professional experience. My stylist was over 15 minutes late with no communication, no apology, and no update until I asked what her status was. When I informed the front desk that I could no longer wait, the receptionist was dismissive and argumentative. To make matters worse, she insisted I would still be charged for the appointment--even though no service was provided. I was charged $45 for nothing. That's not just poor time management--it's unacceptable customer service. I've disputed the charge with my credit card company. I'm not new to salons, and I understand delays happen. But professionalism means respecting your client's time, communicating clearly, and owning your mistakes. Bungalow failed on all counts. I will not be returning. They are fairly inexpensive but not worth the aggravation of poor time management. read more

This was my first experience not only at Bungalow 8 but also at this type of hair salon as I have spent the last 40 years at places like Sports Clips, Great Clips etc. I decided to grow my hair out and finally felt I needed a more professional spot with greater talent. No offense to any other place as they have served me well for years. I called to make an appointment and as expected they are booked out pretty well but depends who you want to see. My wife recommended Elise. I was quite nervous coming into it and Elise did a fantastic job. Very easy going and helpful. I really enjoyed getting my hair cut here with Clara. She moved away since I visited but I do think I will come here again and see another stylist for my haircuts. They use/sell bumble & bumble products which are my favorite. It was super easy and convenient to book an appointment here with their online system. My haircut turned out really nice and it was exactly what I asked for. The ambiance of the salon is very pleasing and they offer you a drink while you wait for your appointment. I moved to Omaha in August and was very nervous about finding a salon. I agonized for months before making an appointment at BUNGALOW/8 in early November based upon Yelp reviews. The salon has a great vibe. It felt welcoming and not "cookie cutter" when I walked in the door. In addition, the stylist I saw was super nice. I enjoyed our conversation while she cut my hair. BUT When I went in my hair was below my bra strap and I was ready for a change. I asked for a lob, which the stylist gave me. After my hair was shampooed it parted to one side. The stylist asked if that was usually where I part my hair and I told her I often do but it depends on my mood. Despite my response, she cut my hair using where it had parted as the dividing line. This means that now when I'm busy and push my hands through my hair frequently it parts somewhere other than where she cuts it, and I have really weird and unattractive pieces sticking out. I have a public facing job and it makes me feel really insecure. From my understanding the stylist who cut my hair is one of the more senior stylists at BUNGALOW/8 which raises a lot of questions about quality control. I wanted to like the salon, but unfortunately great vibe did not equal great quality. read more

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I recently moved to Omaha. Just prior to the pandemic, I really didn't know where to start when looking for a new hair stylist. I read a few Google reviews from around town and finally landed on a Yelp review about Bungalow/8. I sent a general inquiry and Eric responded immediately with recommendations for two stylists at his salon who know curly hair. One phone call and I was booked with Elise for a week later.... with SMS confirmation and reminders too! My hair is curly and brunette and shoulder length (or longer) ever since I can remember. The reception team was extremely welcoming from the moment I walked into the salon. Elise walked out to greet me right on time and I was immediately relieved to see that she also lives the curly hair life. She gave me a brief tour of the salon, explained the process and products she would be using, and listened to my every wish for this morning's "fresh start" chop! Elise dove right in with a dry cut, an invigorating scalp massage, and fabulous conversation. The Innersense line is therapeutically aromatic and the mousse left my curls feeling light/soft NOT weighted down/crunchy. I highly recommend Elise to any lusciously locked lady in Omaha. I had read rave reviews and have been looking for a new stylist for the last year. I was set up a stylist with a few days and in a time frame that was perfect for my schedule. A great location to boot- very central. Sadly, the front desk was more focused on making plans for after work than check me in. The stylist who cut my hair seemed like I was interrupting her time and did not even ask what I wanted done so I was given a trim. I was hoping to take off 4-5 inches. She didn't talk me. Took 40 minutes to blow dry my hair when my hair is fairly thin...I have natural wave and usually just ask for a bit of product and diffuse it but she didn't ask how I wanted it styled either. I just moved to Omaha from a different state and was really excited to try this hair salon for the first time. The reviews were good and the place seemed professional. I called to make an appointment and specifically asked for a hair stylist who can work with a thick , curly and long hair like mine. You paired me with Natasha (I believe that was her name). A nice lady who seemed like she knew what she was doing. Little did I know I was wrong. After coming back home and washed my hair after the blowout, I was left speechless. This is the most uneven and worst haircut I've ever got. Uneven layers, took a lot of the length even when I specifically asked to keep it longer as possible, and an unflattering shape. I'm so disappointed, I honestly thought this would be my new hair salon that I would go to from now on, but after my first (and last) experience I'm doubtful that I'll ever come back to this place again . read more

I had been looking for a hair stylist who can cut curly hair for sometime now and I looked on the Naturally Curly website to see if they had any suggestions on stylist in Omaha. I found Bungalow/8 was on there and thought id give it a shot. I looked up on Yelp and I saw that other customers had gotten their curly hair cuts done by Katie Hilgendorf. So I called and set up my appointment for today. When I got there I was a bit confused as to how to enter the salon but there were signs that said to use the West entrance or something. As I walked in one of the girls at the front desk assisted me. She asked me to fill out a welcome card since I was a new customer and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Once Katie came out she gave me a tour of the salon and showed me where they wash your hair and where they have you dry your hair and where their colors are. She asked me about my hair and what products I used on it, etc. She was super helpful and was open to any questions/concerns that I had. She shared with me that she has been doing hair for 13 years and cutting curly hair for 10 years, which is pretty awesome! After my trim, she walked me to the front and showed me the products that she used on my hair. I'm happy to say that I liked the results of my hair and I will be seeing her again soon! So for any of you curly hair girls/ladies out there need a hair stylist that can cut your hair, I say Katie is your go to girl! read more

I take no pleasure in writing this update to my review I posted several months ago. I look at the photo I posted back then and wish so much my hair looked like that again! Apparently Jordan has become more interested in quantity of clients versus quality. She originally did a great job with highlights and low lights that blended in with my natural white and blond hair. Lately, Jordan introduced a new highlighting technique to save time and hassle for short hair, which is basically just brushing on the color versus using foils to separate. Two weeks ago, my hair came out all shockingly blonde so I called Jordan to explain that I want dimension, multi colors, as I had before. When I went to get it fixed, it took her two applications which then ended up as completely Ash color all over, again no dimensions. I first tried Perioxide with baking soda at home to try to create some highlights but then was able to get an appointment with an owner of a salon in Ohio where I'm working this week. She corrected it. I paid good money plus tipped well for this mishap at Bungalow. I'm sad that it turned out this way. 09/25/19: Eric, the owner of the salon, called and I appreciated his concern and understanding of the situation. He offered to comp my next hair cut and color with a different stylist. I have changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars in expectation that the result will be what I want! read more

Eric Burden has truly created a hairdressing salon that is a cut above the rest. This review is extremely difficult for me to write because I'm not only rating the business, but the amazing owner and staff themselves. What Eric does is not merely hairdressing. Rather, it is an expression of his raw talents coupled with an unparalleled artistry. What I admire about Eric is that he takes time to mentor the stylists around him, which gives them a great environment to develop their own talents. When entering Bungalow 8, you'll be greeted by friendly staff who will offer you a choice of beverage while you wait (i.e coffee or water). I personally love their coffee, and being a Yelp reviewer I can't go without mentioning delicious coffee. Ha! While you wait, enjoy the plush seating that is located in the wait area. This would also be a great time to look over Bungalow 8's amazing products they offer. I personally love the Bumble and Bumble products for men. They don't leave my hair feeling oily or greasy. Wait times will vary depending on the day and time of your appointment (I prefer the evenings because it works best for my schedule). Moreover, based on the popularity of this business, I'd recommend calling in advance (walk-ins are always welcomed of course). Each appointment includes a shampooing and conditioning prior to your styling, but this could be different depending on what you're having done. Lastly, I'd recommend booking appointments for future dates (this can be done when paying). I try to schedule 3-4 weeks out for my future appointments with Eric. read more

I am a new customer to Bungalow/8 and have just started seeing Megan J for my hair appointments. I have seen her twice and after my appointment yesterday I know that I will never leave her. First I want to talk about the salon. You walk in and the receptionists greet you kindly and professionally. They get you checked in and start an amazing experience. The salon itself is not so large that you can get lost, but not small by any means. The decor and aesthetic is CLEAN and fashionable, assuring you that it is filled with artists who can use that eye to make you look your best. Every stylist will pass you with a smile on their face, always hard at work but taking the time to make sure that you feel welcome. While I was getting my hair done, the OWNER (Eric) came by to ask Megan something, but then took the time to greet me and welcome me to the salon! He was kind and funny and you can tell that he takes great pride in this home that he has created for everyone. During my appointment I was greeted by the assistants and stylists like an old friend, while I processed in the area designated for it, I relaxed in a comfy chair and watched as the stylists mixed their color. It was wonderful to see them do this and something I have never seen in a salon before. Now to speak on my stylist. Megan has magical powers. Hogwarts must have the option to learn how to do hair because what she did to me over my last two appointments is nothing short of witchcraft. I wanted to go as light as possible with an all over processing of bleach. She LISTENED to what I wanted, explained to me the steps she was taking and delivered nothing short of perfection. She is an absolute JOY to speak to, the conversation always fun and easy. If I win the lottery, I am going to pay her to brush and shampoo my hair everyday because that in itself is worth all of the money in the world (we can all agree that our favorite part is the shampoo, right?!). She recommended a shampoo and conditioner from the salon (DON'T be scared off by the price! It is worth the money!) that made my hair stronger, shinier and healthier all around. The shampoo and conditioner (kerastaste extension I believe?) has lasted me much longer than I expected since it is so concentrated and has turned my damaged hair completely around. Her advice was not only helpful but completely tailored to me. Honestly, after my first appointment I was so excited for my second. Normally getting my hair done feels like a chore but I looked forward to it like it was a day at the spa! I hope if you have read all of the way to this point of my review you can tell that I am absolutely in love with this salon and that I would recommend going here to anyone that will listen. This is my first review on Yelp in years and I felt the need to post it. Please go to this salon if you are wanting an amazing experience. First time visiting this salon. I just moved from out of state so it's always really nerve racking finding a new stylist. The salon itself was very cute, however each stylist was juggling multiple clients at the same time. It felt very impersonal. My stylist and I were chit chatting when she was applying my color. Then she had me sit in the lounge area while I processed and so she could help another client. When I returned back into her chair after she was don't helping the other client she would ask me questions again which I had just answered before when we were talking. The first couple times I brushed it off my shoulders, no big deal she's helping two people at once, but it happened a good 4 or 5 times which really makes it feel like she wasn't even listening when we were talking the first time. How could she?? She's juggling two people at once. Salon was pricey which I don't mind paying more money for good service but almost $140 for a SINGLE process hair color and a trim (I have short thin hair), the service I received was not worth it. I wanted dark brown hair but told my stylist I did not want it so dark that it looked black.... and of course it looks almost black and it's a little shorter than I asked for. Which isn't a huge deal because I know my hair will fade over time and it'll grow back. But still for the price I would hope that I would walk out loving my hair and I don't. Also I asked about a clarifying shampoo and my stylist recommended me on sold in the salon. I asked if it would be okay on color treated hair she said yes. I went to buy the shampoo and right on the very front it says for "all types of hair EXCEPT COLOR TREATED". Wth Will not return. read more

You can tell that she is extremely well versed in all things hair and has the knowledge to give you the style that you're looking for. I've had a few traumatic cuts in the past so I'm always nervous in the seat, but she took such great care of my long, thick, curly hair!! I'm leaving a second or updated review because it's been over two years since I started going to bungalow 8 and I still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jordan and this salon. It's one thing to have a great first experience but it's another to have consistent, great customer service/ relationships. And GIRLS- if you have short hair or are thinking about getting short hair Jordan knows what she's doing. She's a fantastic colorist and stylist. I'm always extremely pleased when I leave the salon. Jordan is the first stylist I went to after transplanting into Omaha from the east coast and I've never thought to look elsewhere. I received a spray tan from Taylor and wow! It was by far the best spray tan I have ever received! She made me feel super comfortable, was extremely friendly and personable and her attention to detail was superb! She made sure to get everything which made showed me she cares a lot about her clients and making sure they like what they are getting! The color was a beautiful natural glow and lasted about a week! The spray room itself was super roomy and allowed her to move efficiently without feeling cramped or all up in my business (some places make feel like they are right on you)! thanks for the snapped hair. i used all the best professional products and kept asking if my hair would be okay each time and she assured me it would and kept talking about how healthy it was now i have horrible patches of snapped hair in the back of my head that's 3 inches long because she overlapped the bleach in those spots. it was my worst nightmare and i've spent so many hours crying. xenon took better care of my hair than this stylist did. i have long hair so this will take a minimum of a year or two of my life to grow back. don't bother trying to get any accountability from the stylist when they destroy your hair for over $200 either. they'll try to convince you it was something else. get a second and third opinion. read more

What a great salon! Bright, tidy, and welcoming, the vibe was instantly pleasant when I arrived. I selected Bungalow 8 for Katie. She has received training in the Devacurl method (the only stylist in Omaha I believe), and I desperately needed someone who could give me a style that would look good when I didn't want to bother with straightening my hair. She did not disappoint. She ensured I got the necessary texture and shape to enhance my curls, which was unheard of bliss. In case it curled up differently at home she even promised to be available for touch ups if I found any problems when I was working with it throughout the week. Tragically I since fell for a cheap groupon offer, and it is now a 3 week wait to get in to see Katie to fix my horrid cut :( read more

She listens to what you want, but she also has great creative vision if you have no idea what you want (which is usually me). Every time she does my hair I get an abundance of attention and compliments. She also has styled my daughter's hair, as well as my aunt's. We won't go anywhere else. Taylor is the only person I trust to do my hair. She is amazing. I got my hair done once in South Dakota, which was atrocious might I add, and Taylor fixed it easily the next time I came to see her. It's often difficult to pay for appointments as I am in college and sessions are pricey but I find it worth it if Taylor is the one taking care of me. Also I have extremely curly hair and Taylor is the first person I can confidently trust to cut my hair without worry. I would recommend her to anybody in the area looking for a new stylist. BUNGALOW/eight is the bee's knees of hair dressing! Really. I first met Eric (stylist and owner) more than five years ago when he was doing hair at a different salon in Omaha. He was recommended to me by a friend, and since then my hair has done the recommending for me. Honestly... everyone from friends, to my university academic adviser, to my sister, and mother, and random people at football games have asked me about where I get my hair cut and styled. I was so excited to hear that Eric opened his own salon and I've trusted my hair in his hands (and shears) for every haircut in the past five years, and I have no doubt that his styling team is just as amazing as he is. The service and environment is peaceful and beautiful, while still holding a totally friendly and comfortable quality. I love Bungalow/eight! I always hear people talking about their hairstylist. I've never had a go-to stylist before visiting Bungalow/eight. Rebecca is now that gal! I have visited her for a cut and color and follow up cuts. She is wonderful. When she colored my hair she mixed up the most beautiful reddish brown that complimented my features. I always get such great compliments on my hair after visiting her. I also go to *Dustin to get my eyebrows waxed. Dustin knows brows! He is passionate about brows. The first visit he spent so much time mapping out the ideal brow shape for my face and features. I never (ever) knew the luxury of having flattering eyebrows. I look in the mirror and love what I see. My eyes are my favorite feature and Dustin has helped to make them even more so with perfectly shaped and maintained brows. I've recommended Rebecca and Dustin to everyone I know! The salon is so bright, clean, and cheery. The front receptionists are incredibly friendly and ALWAYS offer you something to drink --a fancy coffee, tea, water, etc. After one visit I guarantee you'll be a repeat customer. *edit Dustin has left Bungalow/8 and has his own salon Comb Brows + Hair. I would have given it a 0 but I couldn't. I got my hair done by Alyssa and it was not what I expected at all. It was my first time getting my hair done and was told I couldn't go as light as I wanted but the image I showed her was nowhere near the highlighting I got. My highlights are not visible at all. I called the salon to see what they could do about it and was told that could "try" to lighten them more with an additional $40 charge, which makes no sense considering I paid $145 for a hair coloring I was not satisfied with at all. read more
