I have been going to a different barber for about a decade and wanted to try somewhere new. I got lots of referrals for here and even received guidance from employees once I called of who had the most experience with men's hair. I arrived for my appointment and was immediately offered coffee or a drink. I was delivered a French press in their cozy lobby on a cold day with the fire roaring. A perfect start. Arrive early so you can enjoy your drink and the comfy atmosphere! Maggie came up for my appointment and made awesome conversation while chopping off so much of my hair per request. She works quickly, and for hair and a beard with the volume I have, finishing in an hour is truly impressive. The next step surprised me - I got a warm water wash, then some styling product to get me ship-shape! Searched for 2 years for the best salon in Omaha. And then I found Oliver & Tate and Milina. I am an extremely indecisive customer. I want to ask for big changes, but usually chicken out and I find it hard to articulate just what I am looking for. Milina has been amazing in the last year at talking me though what I want and getting me the best end product. She is not afraid to say no if she thinks something will not work with my face and coloring, which I really appreciate. I scheduled a blow out as a first time client. I was nervous because I had my professional headshots being taken this day, and I was coming to a new stylist whose work I hadn't seen or experienced before. I love when we have these experiences of "happy mistakes" ie: my usual place was booked. Because Oliver & Tate is a definite upgrade. The other salon I was going to for blowouts is not far away, is also high-end and overall "a vibe" to experience. However, with the other salon, they charged exorbitant prices and made big mistakes. One mistake was cutting 4 sections of my hair off (leaving me with 4 - 2'' nubs of hair) while removing my extensions. The other salon is an "extension specialist" and I had the opposite experience. My usual stylist who does my cuts, colors and extensions is so booked I can never get into her for an ad hoc blow out. So I always need a backup for special occasions. Read my review about Dry Bar. It isn't easy to find a good backup! Anyway , arriving at Oliver & Tate is a sensory experience. The beautiful waiting area is akin to Restoration Hardware level interior design. It is easy to sit and relax while waiting. This is important! Who wants to sit in a loud, unkempt space while waiting to have a beauty service done? Kenzie S was my stylist this day, and she was a true professional. I was taken back to her station to set my things down and talk about what I was looking for. We went to the wash station, and wow, the most comfortable wash station EVER. I'm petite, and most wash stations are too big for me and I have to crane my neck or sit on my legs funny. Not here. Kenzie proceeded to blow out my hair with care. My strands were polished and silky. It was a pleasure to experience. The waves that she styled my hair with stayed all day. I have been going to this salon for 2 years now (about every 3-4 months) it has always been reasonable for a haircut and I've always been treated wonderful! This last time changed my perspective pretty heavily. I just got engaged in July and decided to get the color of my hair fixed and a nice cut for engagement photos! I was sooooooooo excited and had planned everything! I asked over the phone what the price of an all over dye or low lights may range as well as a haircut with it. The lady told me it wouldn't go over 175$ for it all. The dye ended up being ok. My hair has several blotchy black spots throughout it (my hair is brown) but it's gotten better with a couple washes. My stylist "cut" my hair and then went to check me out. To my astonishment the charge for a dye and attempt at a cut was $300. Sadly I didn't have that amount and dealt with the embarrassment of not being able to pay all of it or even tip. I explained the phone call and she seemed surprised. I ended up giving her the last of my money as to hopefully pay what I could. It took away from my own livelihood as I couldn't pay for groceries after. Well my now fiancé, pointed out my hair as I got home. He brushed it out for me to show a jagged cut line across the back of my hair. It isn't even layered correctly which I had asked specifically to allow my hair to grow even. He also pointed out the black dye marks which apparently looked almost like cheetah pattern on my hair. For trusting a place with more care for my hair especially during an engagement, I am severely disappointed. I had planned on returning with a large tip for my stylist but do not feel obligated to since I was so blatantly used for an easy up charge. read more

Oliver & Tate is NOT a restaurant in Blackstone as I always thought it was whenever I drove by. It's a contemporary, stylish hair salon. The space itself is beautifully appointed without any fussiness. The chairs have plenty of room around them for social distancing, and the waiting area, called "the living room" has comfortable seating and stacks of books about topics besides hair. I picked up a book about cheese but just had time to open it before Kezlie, the stylist, was ready for me. We discussed what I wanted, then she washed my hair with a vegan product that smelled wonderful. My simple trim, turned out great after she blow dried it. I was really happy with the result. But if you happen to read this and are looking for an amazing salon - I also get my hair regularly cut and colored here and would give it 6 stars if I could :) I feel so lucky to have Kezlie in my life! I had Kezlie do my updo and makeup for my wedding and the only word I can use to describe it was PERFECT. And the best thing about it was, I could trust that she was going to make it perfect and beautiful no matter what. My hair was done in a pulled back chignon and was what I always envisioned my hair looking like but not being able to articulate it to Kezlie. And really the same thing happened for makeup! She worked with my eye color and skin tone and just made the most gorgeous look!! I loved how I looked in all of my photos and really I felt so confident the whole day knowing that my hair would stay up and my makeup would stay flawless. The salon also did hair for some of my guests as well. Everyone looked wonderful. It is such a beautiful salon and was the perfect morning!!! BRIDES BEWARE!! My hair looked so bad!! My curls did not even last for 2 hours after my wedding trial. I expressed concern to the owner, but she blamed ME! She told me I had to change my hairstyle and add layers in order to have beautiful curls (even though I have normal, mid-length hair that should be quite adequate). She also blamed the heat and humidity, which I naively believed. So I made an appointment for a haircut that I did not want. Because my first trial was a complete waste of money, I asked to consult with them about better solutions for my wedding next time. I also asked to have my hair curled again (styling comes with haircuts anyway) so that I could test it without paying for a second trial, which I couldn't afford. The owner agreed. The stylist showed me a picture of beautiful, loose curls but unfortunately didn't make my hair look anything like that! Nothing like what we agreed on. I included a picture of my hair right after leaving the salon. No weather can be blamed there. One question: how can I trust a salon with the most important day of my life if they let me leave looking that way?! The owner saw my hair like that and instead of doing anything to fix the situation, she scheduled me for another trial (a THIRD appointment) THE WEEK BEFORE my wedding. After what just happened, there was no way I was cutting it that close or giving them another dollar. I lost all confidence that Oliver & Tate could make me look and feel beautiful on my wedding day. I wasted a stupid amount of money on bad appointments and the owner still blamed humidity, heat, my hair type and my haircut until the bitter end. I experienced SO MUCH LAST-MINUTE WEDDING STRESS because I needed to cancel appointments for my entire wedding party. Luckily, I found a new stylist and she's great! I'm in town for work and it has been a really long time since I'd gotten a haircut. I found O & T on Yelp, and I am so glad I did. First off the area is really nice. It seems to have a lot of really cute restaurants and cute boutiques nearby. Inside the salon look straight out of a magazine. It was so beautiful, and I really was digging the music and just the overall vibe of the salon. Next to the service. They use Oribe products. Not too familiar, but my hair feels nice and smells great. My stylist, Clare Ellis was really great too. She was really nice, knowledgeable, gentle, and paid a lot of attention to detail. She also asked me quite a bit of questions a about what hairstyle I was looking for, which I appreciated. My stylist was great! The staff, friendly. The service I received was awesome. The whole experience and vibe of this salon was precessional and cozy. Walking in the staff greet you and ask if you want something to drink. I did not have to wait long for my stylist. I showed her some pictures and told her what my hair naturally does. We had a great conversation and overall I had a great time. While my hair is a little shorter than I would've preferred, it's growing on me. The price is really good compared to other places. He got in the car afterwards and was SO FREAKING EXCITED! he typically would get it done at great clips and he said the last time he got it cut he wanted to cry. I normally get a blunt cut and I keep my hair color natural, so it's important for me to find a salon where I feel pampered. I was scheduled with Maggie and she did not disappoint. She listened to my needs and made sure my hair was exactly the way I wanted. She spent extra time washing my hair when I told her I was having dandruff issues. She styled my hair so nicely and made sure my hair was voluminous. I have a lot of semi-thin hair, so when a hair dresser focuses on giving my hair volume it makes me feel special. I have almost waist length, thick hair and I'm extremely picky about who works on it. My husband found the Oliver and Tate salon after we moved to town a few weeks ago. I stalked it on Instagram and found Kenzie, loved her work and booked a consultation. After the consultation I was super confident that we were on the same page and excited about my appointment the following week. Due to being so new to driving in icy conditions I was mortified to be 15 minutes late. She was so gracious. Everything was fantastic, she was so easy to be around. She was so good at being overly clear about what we wanted to achieve and booking enough time so we wouldn't feel rushed. I wish I could write a better review, most experiences were okay. Always friendly and great location. I followed my person when she moved over to Oliver & Tate. Always very happy with her and her professional demeanour. She left, and I kept coming here. Most times were okay, but reminding them of cutting my brows and mediocre hair colouring. But when they don't honour my appointment, when they don't have enough time, and don't respond to vm. I have had enough. I take my personal time and come down, and then ask me to reschedule. I live in the area and have been taking my daughter to get her hair trimmed here for the last two years. Kesley does a great job every time and is exceptionally kind. She's great with kids and understands how nervous they can be. I'd highly recommend her if you have a toddler or young child needing their haircut. It's a very warm and inviting place with mimosas and snacks on Saturday. They also throw a lovely Christmas party and invite all the clients. I'm writing this review as someone who didn't even get the opportunity to receive a haircut from Oliver & Tate. I am visiting from out of the state and I've heard nothing but good things from my sister, who is a regular here. She wanted me to try it out before I left to go back home. A lady named Sarah at the front desk had called us back saying there was a cancellation and she could get me in for a haircut for the next day so we immediately made the appointment with her. Great! I arrive at Oliver & Tate very excited and eager to get my haircut. My excitement was immediately tossed out the window by Sarah when she told me I am not on the schedule even though I had just talked to her on the phone yesterday scheduling the appointment. She told me "It was a glitch" and the appointment that was supposed to be mine, was booked for another person. They are fully booked and Sarah did nothing for me, however told my sister she would write a note in the system giving her a discount for the next time she comes in. I don't trust that Sarah will keep her word or maybe the system will "glitch" again and my sister won't get the discount that was promised to her. Sarah was very unorganized and unhelpful. An amateur mistake for even a low end salon. My time was wasted on going to the salon just to be told I was not given the appointment promised to me. I walked in ready to spend money on what I was told would be an amazing haircut. I was even interested in buying some products. Not only have they lost my money, but they also lost my respect and I will never get the opportunity to get my haircut from this place.
