I had a massage with Marilyn. She was friendly and accommodating. I have had difficulty with mobility in both arms because of shoulder strain and injury. I had muscle spasms and severe pain when I would lift my arms, especially when I would lift anything heavy or bulky. Marylin was able to effectively work the muscles of my arms, shoulders, head and neck. I have been pain free for over 24 hours for the first time in years. I went for a haircut back in May while I was back in town for a family wedding. I had a treatment and haircut/blow dry done and bought some products. My bill was over 500.00 for this and the products. I asked for some long soft layers to give my hair more shape and volume. What a complete ripoff, and Aveda products are the worst! Once I got home and took a look at the hack job that was done on my hair I was so upset. I didn't have time to go back and fix it and I have been scared to trust anyone to give me a haircut since. I was looking for a new salon in Omaha and made an appointment based on the great reviews at Urbane. Everything was perfect today from when I arrived until when I left! When entering, I was greeted by name despite it being my first visit! After being checked in, I was immediately offered coffee, water, or tea! One small detail that I really love- they sell little charcuterie boxes for $10 so that if you need a snack or are there on your lunch break, you can have a quick bite! After waiting a few minutes because I arrived a little early, Lilly brought me to her chair to find out what I wanted done today. She was super attentive, and after asking for a certain amount off, she asked to see where I thought that was to make sure we had the same length in mind. When getting shampooed, I loved the scalp massage! Lilly was super friendly and really took her time to make sure my haircut was nice. I told her what I had in mind, and she made sure to do that and better! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. In the beginning it was a no brainer. When I first walked in, the place is beautiful, the two at the counter were very sweet and accommodating instantly asking if I wanted something to drink, I had Lilly as my stylist, she has a wonderful personality and a great vibe, I loved chatting with her. I had a gift card to cover half my hair appointment and planned on tipping nicely due to using a gc. Throughout the process it seemed like my hair was gonna turn out like I wanted. I was really looking forward to something besides going back to blonde and decided to go dark. I asked for a haircut, undercut 90s bangs and a mauve mushroom all over color. But was told it will be more of a balayage. The first thing I felt was odd was how she did my undercut. It was a very quick buzz and no actual check to see if it was right. (I later found issues) the haircut felt like more of a blunt chop but I figured it was her technique and we would clean it up later. We spend a little under 5 hours working on my hair and close to the end I was informed we ran out of time to be able to dry and style it so we could see the finished project. In turn I went home and once dried I styled it. I really wanted to like it, but I sent some photos and noticed right away even if it fades a little it's not gonna be much like what I wanted. To start In some lights it doesn't look like we did much but just cut it. So here I begin my actual review. I'm pretty disappointed in The cut as well as I would have asked for it another couple inches shorter as well as the way my hair was cut the bottom is heavy so the ends feel like a chop and not texturized, My haircut wasn't blended/textured, the layers uneven and choppy, I also would have went shorter. the lengths on each side were not even the same. The undercut:I still had chunks of long strands that I ended up buzzing myself. The color:was not even remotely what I asked for. (She did tell me it would fade into the color I want after a couple weeks--this did not happen. I ended up contacting another salon and asking what I could do to color correct-ended up toning my hair myself a few days after) I'm pretty disappointed we ran out of time to dry and style but definitely wish we could have so I could have made changes. I really tried to like what she did and tried to give her and it a chance but ultimately I wasted not only my brothers money ( a gf ) but also a chunk of change out of my own pocket for a service that just wasn't worth what I was given. I didn't contact or post this sooner as I felt they couldn't offer me any solution to my problems. Unfortunately I just don't have the trust in the salon to give me a good result after this I do want to reiterate that they were all so kind but ultimately I wouldn't go back. I'm not writing this to get anything in return or reached out to I just wanted to let others know my experience. I do give them the 2 stars for their attentiveness and how great the salon and vibe was. read more

I went in with streaky & thick yellow highlights from a previous hair stylist and left with the perfect balayage. I'd never had a balayage before but I am in love! I love the color & everything about it. I also went in with choppy layers that were clearly not layers ha, but Amy was able to give me more layers & event out everything so that it transitioned perfectly. After everything was done, we went out back for a mini "photoshoot." This was such a great experience, and I will definitely come back! 10/10 recommend! read more

I have white, yellow, and blotchy orange streaks that make me look like a calico cat. Also, she gave me one white highlight to "frame my face" that makes me look like i'm going gray. I've been mulling over how to review Urbane and I wish I could break the star rating down into different areas and experiences but since I can't I've averaged all my visits out to 3 stars. The great: Now I see a great stylist/colorist named Jill at Urbane who has been wonderful. She has convenient hours for me and is wonderful to talk with. Also, I get a lot of compliments after seeing her. 5 stars The horrible: My first time at Urbane was June 2010 and I went for a hair cut with a male stylist whose name I did not choose to remember. I had stopped by the salon the day before to make an appointment and was given a card with a time the following morning written on it. The same time was mentioned multiple times in person. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told I was 45 minutes late. I showed them the appt card I had and they didn't apologize or acknowledge they had made a mistake. Then I got a really great haircut. Unfortunately the stylist spent the ENTIRE HOUR complaining about how I'd been late when I WASN'T! Ugh. 1 star for reception and 1 star for the stylist The meh: Then a few months ago I had a waxing appointment at Urbane with their waxer. She was very nice but like other reviewers have mentioned I was left with waxy bits (got some pro advice from a friend and used a cotton ball soaked with olive oil to remove). The thing that really bothered me was a few days later the area that was waxed was left with blueish yellow bruises. Sorry! The ladies I met here are awesome!! We had the best conversation and I felt at ease with them right away! However, the review is based on my mani and pedi experience here. Pedi ($55): the massage was great along with the exfoliation and callus scrub. I just feel that the nail polish part of the process lacked experience. I had nail polish outside on my nails and they didn't remove it well. Mani ($25): cuticles weren't properly pushed back and cleaned. I only had the tips shaped but didn't have the beds properly buffed. When she shaped my nails, it made the edge rough and so when she painted my nails, the paint didn't stay long at the tips. Paint job was horrible, the paint wasn't evenly distributed, parts of my nail looks like it had a sheer one coat and other parts (on the same nail) are thick. The way she applied it showed she didn't have experience with being a manicurist. After painting my nails, she sprayed it with a quick dry spray (basically oil) but it didn't seem to keep the shine from the top coat. Overall, disappointed that I spent $80 on a pretty crummy job. Most expensive mani and pedi I've ever had. Leaving two stars cause the ladies are pretty awesome and really nice! read more

After graduating from nursing school, my husband decided to treat a friend and me to a spa day since we have just finished 3 or 4 (three for me, four for her) years of torturing ourselves to being the best in our class! Anyway, I was looking up day spas and came across this one since the first one I called, three times, never returned my calls! How rude! Well, we ended up going here for a massage, facial, and pedicures! I must say, the lady I had who did my massage, facial, and pedicure was awesome! She was very friendly and definitely knew what she was doing. In fact, getting a pedicure in this salon may have been the most entertaining without a T.V. because my lady as well as the one who did my friend's nails talked so much! Well, after our spa day, we both definitely felt relaxed and rejuvinated. Now, I suppose I must also review front desk customer service, ambience, etc. Walking into the salon, we were greeted by the hostess, or whatever you call the salon ones, and immediately were offered something to drink! I got a tea and my friend got a water. That was awesome even though we didn't have to wait very long for our people to come get us. The salon itself is very inviting and has very comfy seats to sit in while you wait. Prices weren't too bad, especially if you consider how amazing the service was! My friend and I both really enjoyed our experience here and will most likely be coming back. read more

It's more than just knowledge of how to cut my hair (btw--you should ask for Fjeran) it's why it needs to be cut that way that is important. She understand persona of what I'm trying to do. And that's different than knowing how to cut a fade with a hard part. It's tough finding someone who I trust with my hair and I have trusted fjeran for years. Then--I started getting a chair massage after my haircut. I won a free one two Christmases ago. It will change your life. It's 15 extra minutes and you leave feeling you can take on the world. My entire face got burned so horribly bad by this horrible "esthetician", she even waxed my sideburns too high and said "oops" when it happened. I have been doing my own waxing for around 3 years and occasionally get a wax at Garbos, and NEVER in my entire life have I been burned like this. Just got a facial by Alyssa, she was wonderful! Best facial massage I've ever received! She's super informative and knowledgeable on skincare which I appreciate. I did the upgraded facial which I recommend, she used the brushes and jade rollers which feel amazing and are supposed to be so good for your skin. The only problem is I live in another state so I have to wait until I'm in Omaha again to get another facial by her!! But I will definitely be back to her when I'm in town. Giving a 1 star based on quality, not customer service! On 3-9-16 I got a shellac mani/pedi from Courtney. She was awesome and the service was relaxing & enjoyable. I booked a second appointment a couple weeks out. Two hours after leaving the salon one nail came completely off. I called and Courtney had me come on to repair it on 3-11-16. By 3-15-16, I had 3 more nails come off. By today, 3-17-16, all but one of the nails has fallen off. The one that is still hanging on is the one she repaired for me. I called again with the intention of cancelling my upcoming appointment. I spoke to Nate who apologized and promised my next shellac mani/pedi would be free and provided by a senior cosmetologist. So I feel badly for Courtney, she really was great. But, the quality just wasn't there! Shellac should last 2+ weeks, mine didn't even make it 1week! Hopefully, I'll get better results this next time. Update! Saw Vanessa who was awesome and 3 weeks later my shellac mani&spending are holding up great!!! I was in town this past weekend to attend a wedding. At almost the last minute, I decided to have my hair done rather than do it myself. I called a handful of salons to no avail before I stumbled upon Urbane. I called to see if they could squeeze me in and lucky me- they could! I went in about 15 minutes after I called. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Pete was my stylist. I didn't ask for anything specific, just asked for something with a retro vibe and let him do his thing. What a fantastic job! I actually ended up wearing my hair in the up-do for 3 days and got an endless amount of compliments on it. I visit Omaha at least once a year, so if I am ever in need of styling again, I will definitely go back.
