The teaching staff brings a wealth of experience to these young dancers and they do so with such a loving way. Jason Coosner, the studio Director and main choreographer, has his MFA and has created this academy for all of the right reasons. He is the president of Dance Masters Pacific Coast and also teaches at the Relativity School. His choreography is absolutely beautiful, age appropriate and truly shows off the strengths of each dancer. I can't imagine anyone else choreographing my daughters contemporary solos. His work is award winning. For those that have kids with serious dance aspirations, my 11 year old got accepted to the School of American Ballet CA intensive on full scholarship this summer. It's a pretty big deal. With all of her BDA training, she was able to walk into her classes completely confident, independent and take on the new Balanchine style easily. Many think they have to go to a ballet only school to compete at YAGP or get into a company. Nope! Elyse placed 2nd in contemporary and top 10 in classical and was invited to the NY YAGP Finals this past year at age 10. The beauty of this academy is that she can strive to be a professional ballerina doing ballet along with all of the other dance forms. Dance is joy! I really love this dance studio. The owner, Jason, is so friendly and takes an active interest in the classes being taught. He walks around to make sure that each student is using proper technique and posture, even if he is not teaching that class. The teachers are GREAT with the kids and really work to coax great self-esteem and technique from the children. Debbie is the friendly face in the front office. Just attended their annual Showcase where dancers of all ages performed in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop and character pieces. This studio rocks. Whether ballet or hip-hop the choreography was top-notch and the dancing superb from the littles to the pre-professionals. Way more than what you might expect from a community dance group. If you are looking for an amazing dance studio, with world class faculty and choreographers, then this is the place for you. Mr. Jason has coached both my son and daughter for the past three years and, in that time, their skills have improved exponentially. The faculty and staff at the studio are outstanding and the facility is top-notch. While BDA emphasizes classical ballet training, it provides them with a well-rounded dance education. Instruction in other genres, such as jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and non-classical technique, are incorporated into the studio's core curriculum, as well as classes in tap, hip hop, acro, and yoga/stretch. My kids take it all, because they just can't get enough and they see the improvement in themselves as dancers on a daily basis. Not only does this studio provide excellence in training, but Mr. Jason keeps abreast of the latest technologies and techniques to address injury recovery and prevention. My daughter strained a ligament in the arch of her foot two weeks before the big June show. If it wasn't for Mr. Jason's recommendation of a new laser-therapy treatment that would help alleviate her pain and help speed healing, I don't think she would have been able to perform. Let's face it... dancers, like any other athletes, get injured. It's comforting to know that if/when it happens, the people in charge of their training are "in the know" and involved in their recovery. read more
