**CASH ONLY!** The Burg-Dog Grille of Shallotte is a great place to grab some good hotdogs, a solid burger, and great crinkle cut fries. The menu is limited, but that means that they have perfected everything!! If you're hungry, you may need to get two hot dogs. They are great, but aren't the biggest. The crinkle cut fries are standard hot dog establishment fries. Soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, you can't go wrong. The tea is weak and is a bit watery. The restrooms are clean but are old. When it's busy, you may have to wait for a table. You stand in line to order and then grab a table, so the line may be about 10 mins max. The service is great! They know what they're doing and are efficient. Just make the tea better! read more

I just stopped by here on my way to Wilmington and wow! What can I say! I have so many reactions. And they are all good. The restaurant is located on the end in a strip mall - there is seating outside in the grass and also two tables in the front on the sidewalk under the awning. When you walk into the restaurant, the first thing you notice is it's old diner feel. There are booths alongside the wall to the left and there is the entire cooking station and grill to the right. You must walk to the back of the restaurant to get in line to place your order. I was incredibly shocked how busy this place was - I counted 23 people in line ahead of me and 40 something people inside the restaurant in total, not counting all of those who were sitting on the picnic tables outside. I could not believe how busy this place was especially for serving pretty much only burgers, dogs, and fries. Woah! As I waited in line, I could hear people talking about how much they love the burgers. But I was on a mission for a hotdog which is what I ended up ordering. This was without a doubt, the best hot dog with chili and slaw that I have had on the East Coast of North Carolina. While the burgers in Wilmington are OK, I would say that this place beats it all by far. It's probably the chili. My dogs were $4.50 each, fries $3. Everything on the menu is cheap and they only take cash. The good news is if you did not bring any cash there is ATM on site. I will never make the mistake of not stopping by here again next time I am driving from South Carolina to Wilmington. read more

Wow what a find, been vacationing at Holden for many years, and that's the best Chili cheese burger I've had since the pier! So delicious, wish I would've tried it before the last day I was there. Today was my first time at the Burg Dog Grill. The only thing better than the hospitality was the food. I would legitimately go here 3x a week if I lived in the area. For what this place is they clearly have perfected the hand patted burger. My wife order the single all the way(onion, chili and mustard). I got the double with lettuce and tomato (which was really too big for my current needs). The patties are thick and tasty. Two fresh Burgers, one water, one fountain soda and piping hot crinkle cut fries for a friendly and easy experience costing only $21.00 cash, which is rare these days. The best burger in Brunswick Co. I don't know what their seasoning blend is but it's perfect. Burgers are so well-proportioned and juicy EVERY time. An awesome place for lunch! My wife and I drove down to our beach house to take a few items and bring some others back home. I offered her the choice of a place to dine from Southport to Calabash, and she selected our favorite burger/hot dog restaurant: Burg-Dog Grille. It was about quarter past twelve when we arrived, and they were packed with every table taken and a long line. With not doubt, we got in the line and our order was taken in less that ten minutes. Everyone at the tables are considerate and they depart shortly after finishing their order, and we obliged with the same. Their burgers and hot dogs are classics, and much more tasteful than any others that we have personal tried. It is not unusual for us to drive to Burg-Dog from our beach house for a take out order for the rest of the family. read more

My mother works in the area and has frequented this restaurant a few times. She insisted that we come here to have good food at a great price. She was right about both. We both ordered a cheeseburger, split an order of fries, and had two drinks. Altogether, the price came out to be about $13. Not a bad price for a delicious lunch. Love this mom & pop grill in Shallotte NC. Walk-up counter service was friendly and fast. The hot dogs are fantastic and their burgers are the best in the Holden Beach/ Ocean Isle area in my opinion. If you visit the Shallotte area, this is the one place you have to eat. Order a cheeseburger all the way (which means with chili, mustard and onions) and enjoy. It's a real Carolina burger (which doesn't include slaw) and it's served hot and right off the grill. It's a small place but the service is really fast- bring cash because they don't accept credit or debit cards. The Burg-Dog cheeseburgers and hot dogs put any fast food chain's menu to shame. If you figure in the bang for your buck value and friendly customer service you have something that unfortunately is getting harder and harder to find these days.
