My friend and I had lunch here last week. I discovered that this place is the same ownership of Ocean Isle Fish Company. While there, I had their ahi tuna appetizer, which was delicious. I decided to try it here. The appetizer had just a little bit of lettuce, so I ordered the small house salad. My friend ordered the 'regular' salad with the tuna. Her salad was huge and she wished she ordered the same small house salad. The tuna was super fresh and seared perfectly. We both ordered it very rare. First of all this place needs to be called something else because you can get way more than just wings and fish at this amazing restaurant. The food ranges from fish tacos to wings to prime rib to ahi tuna to she crab soup to Philly cheesesteak. The wedge salad is huge and tastes amazing and the ahi tuna was cooked perfectly and the she crab soup had huge lumps of crab in it. Come and try this amazing restaurant you won't be disappointed. Made the mistake of getting the fish and chips. Worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. We've been to this place several times and never had an issue. Not this time... The fish was heavily breaded and looked like it was frozen fish fillets. Even worse, the fish inside tasted old. The fries at best tasted funky. I can't even describe how bad they were. Last time we ate there for lunch during off season because the decor is great and the staff is always friendly (and weren't disappointed at all and knew we'd have to come back)! But this time at dinner we were very disappointed and not sure we'll come back now. I had 10 wings with 2 different flavors: the honey garlic were terrible, the honey tasted like hot corn syrup and I didn't even taste the garlic at all. The whiskey River sauce was good but thin and the wings were really tiny. They were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and soft inside. I have eaten to go from here for years , this time was the first bad experience I've had . But it was so bad I have to say something. And I know this place is always busy . I waited 30 minutes for my go order to be ready , which I didn't mind . I did expect it to be good as usual. Nope , burger was cold not just cool but cold like it had been made yesterday. But I reheated and ate it. What a great place! We have been wanting to go there for the last five months but was not near there during a meal time. Yesterday was the day! What a cool place. Really cool restaurant in shallote when we drove in. We just happened to come to it as we were taking scenic drive thru sunset beach and surrounding area. I'm glad we stopped the food was great. We got shrimp and crab bites as an appetizer.. something I've never had. They were full of crab and shrimp perfectly fried with not a lot of fillers . Then I had the stuffed crab roll lots of shrimp lobster and crab in a dill and semi sweet glaze.. not sure what it was but it was awesome! We have been here twice now. Both times the food was fantastic. The lobster mac and cheese was so good and they have a very unique seafood lasagna.
