I was so happy to finally get to try this place since I bookmarked it as soon as it opened. We visited about an hour before closing on a Saturday night. The lines were decent and there were a lot of people but once you order at the kiosks, you're good to go until your order is called. Despite it being a Saturday evening with a good crowd size, the food came out swiftly!! Bonus as a hungry party of 6!! We all dug in and thought our burgers were good. Only complaint was the 4oz patties DEFINITELY were on the super thin side (almost disappearing with the toppings). The burgers can be pricey too, so heads up. We ordered Cajun, tornado, & sweet potato fries! With the exception of the tornado fries, they were a bit soggy and burnt. One of the staff was cleaning all around, taking the trash out right next to us while we were eating (like in a gross, off-putting way) and asking our kids while they were eating f to move their chairs so he could clean. This was still with 40 minutes till close too. What I hadn't clocked, especially as someone who worked in civil rights, was when we walked in our adult kids noticed some of the staff staring at us and whispering, and that continued through our meal. Our food trays were slid to us and not handed to us like the other customers. We were neither greeted nor acknowledged when we left like the other customers. As a family that consistently is told how nice and kind our family is, the only explanation for this treatment unfortunately makes us think that our type was just not welcomed...which is ironic considering one of the biggest draws for wanting my family to support this business is because it is POC-owned!! I ordered The Cherrydale Brisket Burger and The Big Billy Burger, along with the hot honey tenders and fries. The burgers were decent--nothing that really stood out, but still satisfying and filling. The hot honey tenders had a nice sweet and spicy flavor, though I wish they had a bit more kick. As for the fries, they were pretty standard. The vibe is casual, and it's a solid option if you're just looking for a quick burger spot in the area. I really wanted to give this spot a higher review. But they left out things on my order that they charged me for. Anyway, this spot has been going viral online for being a spot that one of the presidents ex-chefs opened up (Come to find out, they were just using him for clout). Either way, I wanted to try them out. I ordered a custom burger and fries. I also ordered two different sauces to try (which they charged me $1 a piece and didn't put it in the bag). The fries were hand cut fries, they really reminded me of five guys fries, so if you like five guys fries, you'll like these. They were ok. The burger flavor wise was good. My buddy in PA sent me this spot on Instagram and once I saw the burger I knew I needed to give them a shot. I drove over on a Friday after the lunch rush and they weren't busy. It was super cold inside so a little heat would have been nice. Once we walked in, Jalen was standing behind the counter and let me tell you, he has GREAT customer service skills. If he isn't the restaurant manager, then give him a raise. I asked for suggestions and he sold me on the Old Bay wings (even though he never had them) and the Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger. I also added some Cajun fries. Let's start with the burger. The 4 ounce patty is small. Reminds me of a smash burger. The bacon on the burger is GREAT! The Billy's mayonnaise sauce as a good taste to the burger. The bun was decent however there is so much bread it overshadows the patty to me. For the price I expected more. The Cajun fries have a great kick. They are Cajun for sure. They were made fresh and Jalen brought them to our table. The old bay wings were HEAVEN sent. They had GREAT flavor, cooked to perfection. A great burger joint with good homemade sauces and the owner is very present. When we first arrived the owner told us there was about an hour and a half wait. It was just a warning that they were quite busy and the food could take a while. We were ok with that as we were not in a rush and made our orders appropriately. The food was ready in about 20 minutes so it wasn't much of a long wait. We found some cheap paid parking on a side street but apparently there was free parking behind the spot. There is a good casual ambiance of pop music playing and a free to play NBA Jam arcade machine to pass the time as well. I stumbled upon this place while looking for a new burger spot. I was intrigued by the owner's story so decided to check it out. I went to the website to place an order for pickup but when I got to the point of placing the order, the site said it couldn't accept orders. I double checked that they were open and they were so I was confused. I decided to call and see if I could get confirmation that they were open. I really didn't want to drive the 20+ minutes there if they weren't open. Found the number on the website and called but there was no answer. And no recording or way to leave a message. I arrived and found a spot on the street right in front of the place and went inside. It wasn't that busy and there were staff up front making food and putting together orders. I walked up to the counter and a man greeted me kindly. I told him I tried to place an online order and he explained that they had run out of something earlier and had closed and only just reopened. I told him I tried calling and he said they don't have a phone number (insert my confused face). I told him there's a number on the website and he said that's probably the owner's personal cell. Say what?! Anyway, I was there, this guy was pleasant, so I placed my order. I got a Billy's Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger and added lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and Keshaun's honey barbecue sauce. I also got regular fries without sauce. I sat in one of the chairs (not at a table) to wait, and it didn't take long to receive a text that my order was ready. SO was craving burgers so we headed out to BBJ. Paid parking in the front, free parking in the back. Immediately greeted when we arrived and there were several patrons enjoying their meals. The staff (possibly the owner) was telling customers to expect a minimum 45-minute wait from ordering to food coming out, which caused some people in line to leave. We waited about 15-20 minutes, which wasn't bad. The burger itself was just okay. The bun-to-patty ratio was off -- the bun was cold and way too big compared to the single patty and toppings. Flavor was decent, so not a total loss. I was also confused because the photo of the burger I ordered showed it coming with the works (lettuce, tomato, etc.). None of that was included, and if I hadn't upgraded to grilled onions, it seems like it would've just been meat and cheese. The burgers were 100% ground chuck, real cheddar cheese and thick bacon. We ordered the honey wings, brisket burger with curly potato wedges, and a cheese burger and cajun fries. Really wanted to be more enthusiastic about this place, but there's a lot of room for improvement. 1. The burger (single patty, lettuce, onions) was underwhelming for being a burger specialty place. Seemed like it may have had some nice seasoning, but paper thin. I think another reviewer stated the bun is featured as prominently as the actual meat and I tend to agree with that. 2. Sweet potato fries were uninspiring: about 1/3 of them were burned and they were all a pretty thin / narrow cut. Now the factors that solidified my 3 star rating: 1. The water situation is a bit ridiculous and makes the owner look like a total CHEAPSKATE. I was there with my young child and wanted to fill his small water bottle with just a little water - like I'd be able to at almost any other restaurant. The employee told me the water tower was removed b/c customers kept on breaking it. Yeah, OK. Super lame excuse, as this doesn't seem to be a problem with any other place (or if it was, they figured out a workable solution). Rather conveniently, there is a fridge in the corner with bottled water as well as soda. Also: it just seems like it's standard that a burger joint has the option of fountain soda (to include tap water). That said, the employee *was able to give me some (tap) water, but customers should be able to do so by themselves. Similarly, they don't have standard pump mechanisms for condiments - you know, the one that you simply push down and the condiment comes out. Seems like another cost cutting measure and again, I don't know of any other burger specialty place that does that. 2. Forgot to make half the order. Guy was totally cool about it and it wasn't a major delay. Just another smaller factor that supports the rating. 3. 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries were almost $38. Sorry, but considering the average quality, I think it's overpriced. Observation: the whole "warming container" thing is just a gimmick (as is the "branded bun"). I don't think that's inherently a bad thing, but again, looking at the whole experience, I think a better strategy would be to focus on the quality of the product. On a positive note: they were showing the World Cup and had the sound on. I'm not passionate about soccer, but nice to see they were doing that. There's kiosks for ordering and it looks like they do a lot of online orders, with a big cubby station for DoorDash pickups. It was a bit on the pricier end, paid about $28 for a single burger and fries, but it was yummy and had good toppings. The restaurant is small but cozy the bathroom was extremely clean. The service was quick and friendly The food was amazing. The twister fries were soft and crispy and not oily at all. The burgers was top tier and extremely tasty. The buns are small and soft so expect them not soak up any sauces you have on the burger. My only complaint is it's only bottle drinks and not a fountain set up. But honestly that won't affect the amount of stars it gets.
