Burgers were ok, but it needs a lot more attention to detail to be one of the best burgers in NOVA. Right now, they are not even close. To begin , their electronic menu is complicated and I ended up with a burger that I didn't mean to order. They have sweet potatoes waffle fries, but not regular. The bread was a little dry and the price of two nuggets and one onion ring was $40+. When you're visiting the Washington DC area and you get tired of eating Maryland crabcakes and Chesapeake style seafood, this place has the best Smashburger around. We drove over from Alexandria, past a half dozen other burger places, and it was worth it. The burgers aren't just seasoned with salt and pepper - they're *seasoned* - like, a custom blend of fresh herbs and spices seasoned. They're absolutely delicious, and nothing you'll find at another burger place here or anywhere else. The fries are boardwalk style so there's malt vinegar at every table. (Ketchup is of course also offered.) The buns are from the fantastic and local Lyon Bakery (also the bakery behind the shatteringly crisp Central Michel Richard house bread), and their meat is from farms in nearby Winchester, VA. Chef Keshaun is friendly and happy to share his experience and answer all your questions, and you can tell he's been running kitchens a long time. I mean that in the best possible way - the open kitchen is professional but chill, and everything is done with care. I can understand there are some folks who will be unhappy with these burgers precisely because they're seasoned - come here with an open mind, leave your expectations built in Five Guys and BGR at the door, and enjoy a d*mn good burger (and hot dog)! I had 2 suggestions: the bun is thick, maybe too thick, so maybe grill it longer or grill it on the top so the top of the bun isn't still sort of cold. It was a 2 hour wait which sucks but it is what it is. My poor review is mostly as we arrived at 7:45 PM and was expressed its a two hour wait but when I asked if I ordered then would we still be able to get food. The cook would not answer the question as to whether I would be wasting my time and money to wait or not as the ordering kiosks were not closed. Another couple asked the same and they would not give a clear answer. If youre closed thats fine just say so instead of being unclear and not answering your customers whether they should still order or not if theyre willing to wait. This new (approximately 4 month old) restaurant is fantastic!! The Cherrydale Brisket Burger is their award winning pride and joy (and rightly so--it is amazing) and is perfect the way it's put together with no additions needed. Twister Fries are fantastic as well, and the dipping sauces are a great compliment. Last but not least, the owner and staff are fantastic, friendly and welcoming! They made my wife and I (and baby) feel welcomed and appreciated. Service in this modern place is prompt as well. Absolutely, hands down, the best burger I've had! Chef Keshaun is a master chef! I had the Cherrydale Brisket Burger and while I've had brisket burgers around the country, this one was remarkable! Chef Keshaun uses his own smoked brisket and combines it with his Front Royal beef and candied bacon and carmelized onions with the result nothing short of amazing! Couple this with a hearty helping of his Cajun hand cut fries and you have the Bomb!! Total fire!! My wife and I will be back...over and over! Excuse my story telling here; I went here with my family and it was just chef Keshaun left working the whole kitchen. His main fryer was broken, so he had a smaller replacement, and he was swamped during the lunch rush. Despite this overwhelming situation he was extremely courteous and made sure to advise every one of his customers about the wait before they ordered as to not be disruptive to their day. Although he was extremely busy, he found time to thank the entire restaurant for waiting and referred to us as his "family". The pico and jalapeño burger he produced for me amid this chaos was undeniably one the best burgers I've ever had. The balance between sauce, spice, flavor, and juiciness of the burger was perfect! After we finished eating Keshaun finally caught a break and immediately struck up conversation with us as well as some other customers. He was extremely nice and very genuine. Waited more than 2 hours on a normal weekday for 2 burgers and fries. The food came out cold. The food was underwhelming and the extreme wait time was not a good experience. Many people were left without any food at all and refunds were offered only 10 minutes before closing (after people had already been waiting for 2 hours). There were only 2 people working which was clearly not enough for the amount of orders at the restaurant. There was confusion about the order queue because there food delivery ordered, in store orders, and some people had also ordered online through the restaurant website. There was no rhyme or reason for which ordered got processed first as some higher number orders were delivered even though people waiting at the restaurant were not getting their food. read more

Unfortunately, the fries weren't fresh and were room temperature and dry by the time I got home (a very short drive). They forgot to add BBQ sauce to my burger, but I got it on the side, which made a big difference. Overall, mixed experience. Unfortunately, this was the absolute worst hamburger ever. Not only was it was overcooked (basically burnt) and over-seasoned (too salty), but I also suspect either the beef or the oil was rancid. When the burger came out, it smelled like fish. I took two bites and threw it away (despite the fact that I hate wasting food). The twister fries also smelled fishy. I ate five and threw the rest away (again, despite the fact that I hate wasting food).
