I ordered a Riesling... too sweet, tasted more like a Moscato, 6/10. Caesar salad, was perfect and I added cucumbers .50 more. Perfectly crispy, well dressed 10/10. I also ordered the pot roast 10/10 which I didn't eat much of as I was full but everything tasted perfect seasoned and tender vegetables, roast. Sauce was perfect with the mash potatoes too. Service was perfect. She answered all our questions, was patient and attentive. Jaaniyah 10/10. Be aware, this last part is the business/credit card companies and not the server. A 3% surcharge for credit cards is already added to receipt, as well as an 18% service charge. It's not always clear who all receives the service charge as it is not listed as gratuity but it cannot be removed. So do your math's if you're looking to tip 20%

For the pricing, I expected much better flavor, quality, and overall creativity. The shareables were overpriced, the drinks were mid-level at best, and nothing really stood out enough to justify the cost. The space itself is nice and works well as a social spot or sports bar atmosphere where you can sit, talk, watch games, and enjoy company. That part of the experience was probably the highlight. However, the service was also lacking because the restaurant seemed noticeably short-staffed. It took a long time to receive attention and proper service throughout the visit, which added to the frustration. Overall, the location and atmosphere have potential, but the menu, food quality, drink execution, pricing, and staffing experience need major improvement to match the type of establishment they appear to be aiming for.

Upon entry I was greeted immediately and both ladies were extremely nice. They have a few slot machines off to the side, which I didn't realize. Because it was takeout, I can't provide any feedback on the full dining in experience, but there's a lot of parking available outside. Very nice location. My jambalaya skillet was delicious. It comes with two decent sized pancakes. Between the two pancakes and the skillet, I was able to get three meals out of it. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The pancakes were cooked perfectly. If and when I find myself in Homewood, IL again I'm definitely going back to Grady's

I ordered the corned beef hash skillet, and it did not disappoint. I always appreciate when a restaurant makes their corned beef hash in-house--it makes a difference--and this one was full of flavor and served piping hot. It also came with a side of pancakes, which were some of the fluffiest I've ever had. One small touch I really appreciated was the variety of flavored coffee creamers available at the table. It's nice to have options beyond the usual half-and-half. A fun surprise: my food was delivered by a robot! I'd heard about this but had never experienced it in person--definitely a cool and memorable touch. Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming. If you're in or near Homewood and looking for a solid breakfast spot, this place is absolutely worth checking out. #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad

I was recently looking for some restaurants to try that are black owned. Saw a video that The Black…read moreFoodies did on this establishment so my friend decided to go here on 3/25/25. It's in Flossmoor, IL. I'm so happy to do this review on them. We went on a Tuesday and although I had in mind what I wanted to order from the regular menu, we arrived while their Happy Hour was still going on so we decided to take advantage of their tacos for Taco Tuesday and their guacamole. The guac and chips came out first. It looked so fresh and when I tasted it, the angels were singing! Delicious. Then came the tacos - I was surprised how big they were, filled up with good stuff. I had the steak and the chicken. Both were good but I liked the steak best. I had had a challenging workday so I treated myself to the Lemondrop Flight as I love lemondrop martinis. You can pick three from the flavors of original, passion fruit, watermelon, mango and strawberry. The presentation is beautiful in what they bring it in. Toya, one of the owners made it herself and she is definitely a good at making drinks. I enjoyed them immensely. This place is a total VIBE - small, intimate and cozy. They play R&B that takes you back to the 80s and 90s - we were thoroughly enjoying it. Many come in and sit at the bar where there are two large screen TVs. They also have a small outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We were really enjoying our time there. We had the best wait staff - Chris was super cool, engaging and just plain nice. He was informing us of all the events they have there which piqued my interest. Toya also came over and talked with us and I complimented her on the restaurant and promised her that I would definitely be back and would bring others. I have already posted about them on social media and many of my friends are planning on seeing what they offer. For dessert, I ordered the Turtle Cheesecake. I'm kind of a cheesecake snob because my late Mother made the best cheesecake. The presentation of their cheesecake was gorgeous. The caramel drizzle and nuts on it was inviting. One bite and I was SOLD! I was too full to eat the entire big slice they gave me so I worked on it some more when I got home. This place opened in 2023. I wish them the best because they definitely have something there. I can't wait to come back there, it's a place to come, relax, eat good food and enjoy the positive environment that there. Check out their weekly events, brunch and live entertainment on Saturdays. Thank you Poppin' Corks, A+!!

One of the first recommendations for a restaurant that I got when I moved to the Far South Suburbs…read morecame from a server at a breakfast spot that I had visited. She recommended Poppin Corks Bistro. I passed by several time, and being solo, I was looking to get a seat at the bar rather than in the main dining area. There has never been a time that I passed that there was a seat open at the bar, so I sat in the main dining area this one time. I ordered blackened catfish with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. This was a hit. It was full of flavor without going overboard with seasoning. And I appreciate that it was cooked to order. It made up for the cranberry juice being water with a "hint" of cranberry juice, an indication that it probably came from a tap. Service was top and one of the owners made rounds to check on customers. I may stop by again at some point in the future. It would certainly be a welcomed break when I am taking respite from cooking at home.

So I decided to try the Italian beef and the Chicago hotdog (plant-based). I ordered the regular size Italian beef and could only eat half. The inside was very spacious. A lot of decor on the wall. Ample seating. Also ample parking. Because I ordered my food online, my interaction with staff was very limited, but they seemed pleasant overall. It was nice trying tastes of Chicago. Enough is enough. I…read morehave had it with the Portillo's in Homewood. This isn't about one bad experience. This is about a pattern of mistakes that has gone on for far too long. We have continued to give this location chance after chance because we genuinely like Portillo's, but every single visit seems to come with a new problem. At some point, enough is enough. Today's order was the final straw. We ordered: * Two double cheeseburgers: * One with NO mayo. Of course, it had mayo. * One with NO lettuce. Of course, it had lettuce. * One chicken sandwich with NO mayo. You guessed it, it had mayo. * And to top it all off, the "double" cheeseburgers weren't even doubles. They were singles. This isn't a small mistake. It's an order where almost everything was wrong. And this is nothing new. Over the years we have: * Had to drive all the way back because items were missing from our order. * Received soft drinks that turned out to be nothing but carbonated water because the syrup had run out. * Waited 30 to 40 minutes in the drive thru, which completely defeats the purpose of fast food. * Dined inside only to find sticky tables and empty utensil dispensers. None of these things by themselves would make me swear off a restaurant. But when they happen over and over again, they paint a picture of a location that simply does not care about quality, accuracy, or the customer experience. It's disappointing because Portillo's has built a reputation for great food. Unfortunately, the Homewood location consistently fails to live up to that reputation. We have spent our last dollar at this location. I sincerely hope management takes a hard look at what's happening because loyal customers can only overlook so much before they decide they're done. Sadly, we're done.
