I ordered a steak and cheese today and although it had potential to be very good, it was not. Why would anyone sell a steak sandwich and not seasoned the steak meat it's all ? There was no salt. There was no pepper, there was nothing on that steak. Had the steak had some seasoning on it, it could have been a very good sandwich. I ordered three classic burgers, a buffalo chicken sandwich, and an Oreo milkshake. The burgers were delicious and definitely something I'd order again. The buffalo chicken sandwich was just okay and a bit chewy, but since it's BURGER Bunker, I can't really fault them for not nailing the chicken. The Oreo milkshake was super tasty and worth trying. All the food is made to order, so it takes about 5-7 minutes from when you place your order at the window until it's ready. For the portion size and quality, the value was definitely worth the price. My coworkers and I usually ordered from here once a week and always had good food. We ordered this past Friday and half way through my philly cheese steak I found something non-chewable in my steak. I then looked in the rest of the sandwich and there was another piece. I'm still not sure what it was. It looked like large pieces of fat. Needless to say I threw the rest of the sandwich away. After work I went by to show them. The manager came out and said it was onion. Um...no..I get mine plain and that is not onion. He then asked where the sandwich was? I told him I threw it in the trash. I wasn't looking for anything besides them being more careful and maybe an apology but with the attitude he gave me I won't be back and neither will my other 8 coworkers. read more

Long awaited review but from what I remember the burger here wasn't that bad. It tasted fresh to order burger and fries are served in a cup. The drive thru is very americana and the wait for the food can be lengthy thats why I stated it seem like they make fresh to order food. I passed by this place about a month ago and it seemed like new owners or something because it didnt look the same from what I remember. Burger Bunker was sold this year to the owners of Gaskins BBQ & Lobster. They kept the name but have modified the menu and the recipes (so the food is not the same). I enjoyed my first experience with them, I like a quarter pounder instead of the hefty half-pounders, and they make a great one at a reasonable price. Thankfully my visit was without a line. I look forward to future visits and other menu items. I'm not at the point to score it as excellent until I've been a couple times. I appreciate the drive-thru access (no inside seating). read more

I was so excited when I heard Burger Bunker was opening back up! Unfortunately, it is not the same. My husband and I really loved their philly cheese steaks. You couldn't beat a 12" for less than $9. Now, they only sell 6". The container they put them in makes the sandwich really greasy. It doesn't have that same authentic Philly flavor. For those that are comparing Burger Bunker to Five Guys; you are out of your mind. While the burgers are fine, they are no where close to the best burgers in Polk County, Auburndale, maybe. The buns are huge, the toppings included are lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and your choice of raw or grilled onion. The issue is the quarter pound beef patty. Five Guys uses regular ground beef (probably previously frozen) but BB uses frozen patties, that are somewhat chewy when cooked. The taste isn't bad but the texture is not great. The fries are your standard frozen then deep fried fries. There wasn't any seasoning or salt on them. The fries are straight up 1 Star. The burger a 3 for average. Frozen fries will never beat Five Guys where they are cut fresh in store. Slightly cheaper than Five Guys, but not nearly as good. If they used fresh beef and seasoned the fries they would be much better. read more

You really have to be looking for the place, if it is your destination, because if you blink, you might drive right past it. That said, it's worth the careful attention you need to pay in order to find Burger Bunker. It's a tiny bit pricey, but at this point in the post-COVID wasteland, what restaurant isn't? Even so, and compared to other places at which you can get a hamburger, BB is worth every penny. If you look at a McDonald's ad, you will see a generous, meaty burger on a delicious-looking bun, and it just makes your mouth water. Of course, when you actually order from there, you get a burger that resembles road kill, a little bigger than the size of a silver dollar, slapped onto a bun that has been shot at by a condiment gun and smashed into a wrapper or cardboard box, destined to be a mess when you open it. At Burger Bunker, their advertising photos don't do their food justice. The meat is REAL HAMBURGER, and you can taste the difference. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, and the sandwich is assembled so that it not only holds together when you extract it from the wrapper, it looks good too. So, for no other reason than the quality and taste of the food you get a Burger Bunker, go there. If you need another reason, it's a locally owned outfit which, obviously, actually cares about how it does business, not a soulless, number-crunching corporate chain which has long forgotten the chapter and verse of how to deliver good service or value for your dollar. I have driven past this placed but never stopped...that wont happen again. Totally awesome! The best burger I have tasted in all of Polk County! I ordered a large cheeseburger with everything. It was more than enough to fill me up and then some. Thr biggest surprise was the flavor of the fresh beef, with fresh veggies and condiments-it was OFF-THE-HOOK! I thought it was a little pricey for a burger ($7), but when I got it...I saw why...it was huge!!! And when I bit into it, it all came together. It was like when you sat down at Grandma's and she made you a burger. Well, Grandma just got second place! Being a trained chef, myself, I am very critical of fast food. We stopped by this place and we got a fish sandwich and it was Disgusting it was Soggy fish sticks. The tator tots was the only thing we enjoyed they were hot and crispy. I have driven from Mulberry to Auburndale numerous times for your cheese steak sandwich because it was so delicious. There was one day that I made the journey only to find a sign on window saying that the store was permanently closed, which was heartbreaking. When I heard that it was being reopened, I was excited. I had business today (07/27/24) in Auburndale, so I decided to stop by Burger Bunker and get a cheese steak. My son got a burger and some fries. I ordered one cheese steak for now and one for later, I ordered the same for my wife. I ordered 2 cheese steaks each since you can only get them in 6 inches. I had some of the fries, and I can say that they were hot, fresh, and tasty. I don't know what my son thought about the burger, but as for me with the cheese steaks, you blew it big time. I only ate about a quarter of my first sandwich, and I had to put it down. It totally sucked, lacking in flavor. The cheese steaks before were so delicious they were pure Heaven, that's why I drive so far to get them. I would have done just about anything for one of your cheese steaks. Now, I wouldn't walk across the street to get a cheese steak sandwich from you. Whatever you changed, it's no good. Please go back to the way it was. You had the best cheese steak sandwiches around before you closed. The first few times we ate here the burgers were good, but the last three times we have had issues. The chicken nuggets are very tasty. The burgers have been burned. The Bad: - It has a very limited menu. But, with the name what it is, that's what you're going for. - No Shakes or Malts. - There's going to be a wait. Ours was about 10 minutes. - They were short staffed and the walk in portion of the place was closed. You had to order through the Drive-Thru. The Good: - The burger was probably the best that I've had down here in Florida. A top of the line burger is $6. - My wife had a 1/2 cheese steak. Excellent as well (I snitched a piece of it). My wife is from Pennsylvania and likes them but until this place has liked any in Florida. This one she liked. - The Fries appeared to be homemade and were exceptional. Waited at the order window after sitting in line for ten minutes. Another 5 minutes at thr window and no one would take my order so I drove around does a pick-up window and they refused to take my order and told me to get back in line after waiting another 10 minutes in line got to the order window and complained about them not waiting on me the first time the girl with a British accent refuse to wait on me and said she would not take my order because I complained!
