Spinach, Mushroom & Tomato Omelette (3PD) Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (3PD) no icing or whipped cream, Pantry Platter (3PD) on far side
    Jennifer J.

Marissa greeted me at the door and did a little Karaoke "party of two" and "picking blackberries" going to the table. She was our server for the morning, very friendly, quick service, and biscuits were great! Spinach, mushroom and fresh tomatoes omelette with cinnamon buttermilk pancakes were fantastic. Yes, my pancakes were plain on top-sorry watching the sugar no icing or whipped cream today. The other plate was the pantry sampler-all meat plus eggs and hashbrowns. Famous cookies are go-giving them to kids at home. Water to go! We will see you tomorrow...

As we walked in we noticed they were extremely busy this was Father's Day so we did expect that, we were greeted within a few minutes the host had a smile and good sense of humor he joked with my husband about the sports team he was wearing as he was walking us to our table we were greeted within a few minutes by our server Karlie she was upbeat and very sweet she brought biscuits right away with two different types of flavored butter she then took our drink order we did tell her this was our first time dining here she said she had some recommendations she would share when she came back with the drinks she mentioned three different dishes everyone ordered there food and I took one of her recommendation which was the steak tips food arrived in a timely manner we never waited for drink refills she definitely was on point the steak tips were a little over cooked lacked some flavor but the sautéed onions and mushrooms made up for that the red skinned potatoes were also a little over cooked but did have a good flavor the corn beef hash is not your traditional style it's corn beef with shredded potatoes my husband loved it the avocado toasted was more like guacamole toast if you don't like tomato or onion I would not recommend it can not be taken out last but not least we also got the banana nut bread French toast OMGOODNESS!! This was absolutely amazing if you love or even like banana bread I highly recommend this it was delicious overall this was a really great restaurant the service was great the food was hot the vibes and ambience was amazing we will definitely be back and we will be asking for Karlie she was amazing!!

Location is strange. It just doesn't fit in there. It looks out of place. The area is kind of run down but the restaurant looks better inside than the area. Outside it's kind of hidden away. Ive been past this place for a long long time and just now noticed it. We didn't have to wait to be seated. They have mini desserts up front to order or take with you. Our server was very nice and we liked the look of the menu and the large selection. The steak was fine, the veggie sides were very good and the bread/biscuits were delicious and unique. They had a strawberry homemade butter which was cool. The loaded nachos were not loaded and portion was small. The homemade chips in it were very good though. The chicken tenders were excellent. It's nice to see so much being uniquely made. We'll be back to try other menu items.

Again on a business trip I got to try this local spot. The server and staff were amazing. The food was fresh and hot snd served with a smile. And don't forget about the complimentary biscuits with the butters! I wish they were local because I couldn't say more about them!

Stumble on this place by chance and had some really great food. Out initial server was fabulous; however, she ha to leave before we were finished. The server that took her place was ok at first, but then seemed like she was upset at us. We like to have fun and enjoy it when our server jokes with us. We'll be back but won't ask for the second server.

Today we were served by Chloe - she is always amazing to us. I happened to walk on my way to bathroom and overheard another waitress making Michelle yell - don't keep walking & talking you stupid bitch - she was so disrespectful to her own colleague & should not work at this establishment w that attitude & disrespectfulness to her colleagues.

Excellent service. The food was great. The menu has enough variety that anyone will find something they like. Ambiance is like a diner. Don't be put off by the fact that it sits in a strip mall location. The place was very busy and larger than I expected. Lots of activity and fast moving, friendly wait staff efficiently keeping the place humming. Breakfast foods available all day. We went for dinner, and we were really glad that we chose this place. They bring out fresh biscuits with cinnamon butter and strawberry butter while you are waiting for your food. I ordered smothered steak tips with onions and mushrooms. It came with 2 sides, and I chose collard greens and green beans. It was good! Others in my party ordered chicken fried steak and gravy with mashed potatoes and collard greens. The mashed potatoes were real. The greens were good and the waitress even brought out pepper sauce for them. The chicken strip dinner was also excellent. We were very glad that we stopped here!

The food is amazing every time we go. We have tried various items and nothing ever disappoints. The prices are reasonable. You get free biscuits with flavored butter that taste like they are from heaven. They also give free snickerdoodle cookies. Can't beat it! Service is always great and the restaurant is a nice size so there is always a table available. We love the jams and butters they sell too.

Family food adventure X2 Breakfast once and Lunch the second We'll get with ambiance first, nice place clean, bathrooms could have used a bit of attention, but it's just what the name says Modern Diner, but nothing really special. We'll start with the time me, wifey & little one went for breakfast. Free biscuits to the table with two butters, nice touch!!! Our server seemed to be new because he could not answer any of our questions about the food and had to keep going away and coming back with the answer and then was running food in during his traveling as well. He was very nice, but not attentive at all as I had to flag him down anytime we needed refills. Our Little one got their usual pancakes with bacon: They were good my little one stated, they're just like IHOP, which means I could have paid way less for the same food, plus the pancakes were not that big either. The bacon was ok, but not crispy, like they cook a bunch and let it sit under a heat lamp. That works when the bacon is flying, but this batch was either pulled early or sat too long. My wife got the some kind of breakfast bowl and was not impressed I got the special, like I do!!! The special was a prime rib breakfast for 17$ and boy was I disappointed with the size cut I received, it was like a thin piece of fat with a little meat on it. The meat that was there was good, but it was definitely not worth the money and I would not order it again!!! The bill was close to 60$ with tip for 3 people, even with the special for me with the other food, drinks and tip that equates to 20$ a person and this breakfast was not worth that for us. Now for lunch as we wanted to give this place another try this time the 5 of us went and man we should have went somewhere else. They were very slow for a mid afternoon and the service was o.k. this time. I asked the server many questions and she did have most of the answers, but I when I was asking about certain foods she said things for almost every item I asked about that would make me not want to order any of them and that's hard for me b/c I love food and trying new foods as well!!! The family got some things first, as I didn't want them to wait for me to decide... The wife got a Turkey sandwich and again was not impressed and only ended up eating half b/c she did not like it that much. Our eldest got a French toast breakfast platter and the French toast looked like yellow egg on bread, they do not know how to make a nice caramelized/browned French toast. bacon was soft again and the only thing semi-enjoyed on the plate was an egg that was supposed to be medium, but was sunny side hard no drip from the yolk. The boy got the Teriyaki chicken that came with a salad: Salad was good, but the Teriyaki chicken was not enjoyed. The sauce didn't even seem cooked onto the steak. The rice was the base and the chicken was on top and it looked like they just squirted the Teriyaki sauce on top of everything. He loves Teriyaki anything, but he did not enjoy this. He did eat it to not waste the money at $15.99 for such a small plate, I appreciated that, what a champ!!! Our little one got the Teriyaki Steak and potato soup, again same as the chicken, it was assembled the same & was not enjoyed ended up not eating over half of it because she couldn't get past the bad Teriyaki taste. Sorry, but my kids have adventurous pallets and they know good from bad food. After a long period of time debating if I even wanted anything, I ended up getting a buffalo chicken wrap, who could mess that up and it's a simple ingredient list to wrap. I should have just saved my money, I just had a feeling, I took one bite of my wrap and found a hair, as shared by others. I didn't even say anything, I placed the hair on the side of the plate and then proceeded to open and inspect the rest of the wrap. I did not find any other hairs so I rewrapped the wrap, LOL and continued eating. I was not impressed chicken was hard, like it was over cooked by leaving it in the fryer too long and I did not enjoy it. For the 5 of us plus tip we spent $98, not good value for the money!!! We will continue to go to Big Tom's in Winter haven for our Diner Dining Delights. (Great food at Big Tom's check out my review on my page) This place is now crossed off of our list of places to go as after 2 chances and the cost associated with the quality of food, I think this will be an Auburndale town diner, until people realize they can go about 10 miles away to get way better food and service...at Big Tom's, plus the bill is usually $60 with drinks & tip for large portions of great food that satisfy our Family of 5!!! I have included the food pic's, except for the wrap not worth taking a picture of especially with the hair on the plate. I will say all of the food looked really good, but it was the Quality & Taste of the food that failed these dishes, certainly not made with Love!!! Stop in try for yourself, hopefully you will have a better experience!!!

A great diner in Auburndale with friendly service and outstanding food, the Pantry Modern Diner has something for everyone in your group. The menu is large and they serve breakfast all day. Portions are substantial and service was fast and friendly. All meals are served with their homemade biscuits and strawberry/banana butter. We also received yummy snickerdoodle cookies before we left. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

    French Dip Sandwich (3PD)

Definitely 5 stars all day here.. you sit down to these delicious biscuits with an amazing strawberry vanilla butter oh my.., we could eat those everyday for the rest of our lives.. my bing on the garlic cheese curds are awesome!!! A nice hint of garlic with the cheese- two thumbs up there.. not to mention the French dip - I picked provolone cheese and the burger and the fries with that yummy seasoning and that sauce.. oh my goodness.. then we left with snickerdoodle cookies I can't wait to have room to try those.. if you're in the area this place is a must! The service was excellent she was so friendly and on top of things.. we definitely will be back.. we love the small diner feel in a big space..

It came with two eggs, two bacon, a biscuit and gravy and I added a side of hash browns. It was all very tasty, until I slid the hash browns onto the other plate and saw all the grease. It clicked on me to update this review after having a similar sandwich this afternoon at another establishment, that was half the price and x5 better tasting (WTH?). The wife had a pancake stack and was satisfied, but I was not. Ordered the toddler a grilled cheese and fries. He poo-pooed the sandwich and I can't blame him - a single lab of American cheese that was not fully melted. He ate the fries and I had one to test out. It was just okay. The service was fine, but the meal was a total disappointment (for me and the wee one). We will be back, but it could be awhile. but unknown if for anything other than breakfast. It would be very hard to screw up breakfast foods, but it can happen. I feel bad taking this place down from a 5 to a 2, but it is what it is for the time being ('could've been better' for sure).

I was asked if I wanted my home fries cooked on the grill or deep-fried. That was something new! I choose deep fried. Everything was out quickly. My biscuit (not pictured) was warm and soft. My omelet was just fine. An average amount of meat and cheese and cooked nicely. It didn't seem like a four-egg omelet. Just the usual three. I could get this omelet anywhere and that's not necessarily a bad thing. OMG the deep-fried home fries! Did you see my picture? These are not from a bag but homemade. They were piping hot and just damn amazing! I never had anything like them, and they'll be in my dreams tonight. So, my breakfast with excellent service was easily a four-star experience. I can't speak to their lunch. Their average on Yelp is 4.3 which I think is justified. Give them a try!
