We brought our four kids here and had such a great experience! The food was absolutely delicious--hamburgers and ice cream were a hit. What really made the night special was the service. Our server and the owner were incredibly personable, warm, and welcoming. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. It's not easy dining out with four kids, but we felt completely at ease and well taken care of. We'll definitely be back!

We had lunch outside today and it was delightful. The weather was perfect and the ped mall offers the best people watching. We shared the onion rings as an appetizer and it was delicious. Both my husband and myself had the tenderloin and my youngest had the kids chicken fingers. Everything was great!

Smash burgers are excellent. They are very genuine people who work there. The owner is very friendly and wholesome, which makes the experience 10x better. Home-made dilly bars are very excellent.

Burger Haul is on a roll- see what I did there- with pungent, flavorful burgers. Woman-owned, this restaurant is a powerhouse of everything wonderful: top-notch food, warm service, and a fun atmosphere. I'm going to keep this short and sweet to avoid mouth-watering burger withdraw. The "jamming jalapeño" and "burger in a haystack" were scrumptious. Eat a whole burger, feel stuffed and still want to order another one kinda good. All of the sauces for the burgers are homemade and deserve this honorable mention. Don't forget to grab a basket of fries, they are deliciously crispy and greasy (but not in an underwhelming kind of way). Our server, Faith, was down-to-earth, provided great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the restaurant. She was willing to chat with us while simultaneously maintaining professionalism. We thought we had already found the best burger joint in Iowa City but Burger Haul took it's worthy place at tied for our favorite place.

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch a little while ago and it was delicious! The burgers were nice and juicy and the bun was able to withstand the weight of the patty/ toppings enough that it didn't get soggy for me (a pet peeve). My side Caesar salad was very crisp, tangy, and cheesy. The only thing I would really change would be the size of the fries they give you, I know it's technically a serving size of them, but we wanted more, lol. We will definitely be back!

ANOTHER burger place moved in downtown. But this one is actually a bit different. They have so many burger-centric items on their menu that you won't find elsewhere in Iowa City! A loose meat, sloppy joe-esk item. There's a breakfast themed burger... that has a WAFFLES AND SYRUP?!? Heck, there is event a burger with nachos as a topping?! BurgerHaul has been on my radar since I peeped their awesome patio this fall. Gosh, I can't wait until I can visit that! The Bavarian Pretzel looks legit and the cocktails they were serving up looked tasty. We ordered via CHOMP Delivery on a Sunday evening. My kids ate all their chicken tenders and fries. I, being me, didn't order a burger because I saw a pork tenderloin on the menu. I am a connoisseur of sorts. Let me say, it did not disappoint! (The tenderloin was 2-3 times bigger than the bun, naturally.) This burger joint took over Saloon's location therefore parking is typical for downtown-- I recommend the Dubuque Street Ramp. Pricing is pretty standard. I also believe they have a couple vegetarian options. (I.e. Magic Mushroom Burger) Burger Haul isn't just another burger place. They're slinging burgers you won't find elsewhere. Try this new downtown spot! (They're currently closed Monday and Tuesday.)

In town for a few days and needed a good hole in the wall burger and beer. Place is exactly that. Has maybe 10 booths 4-2 tops and a nice bar with some couches at the end. Great feel and vibe , menu solid with some stuff for the "college kids" at Iowa. Son had spicy chicken sandwich and seasoned well, fries were good. I had the jalapeño jam burger and super tasty, onion rings with it are super thin and excellent. Has rotating local beers on tap and the Bar Manager-Faith, was fantastic! Will be by again b4 we head out!

Clean place and great food! Gluten-free options for the buns which is great! Great service as well.

    Delicious food for me

The most recent hidden gem of Iowa city, the cooking is amazing and done with care. Burger Haul is locally owned by amazing owners that make always feel welcome. They are not busy weekend morning enjoy a amazing environment and great food.

Note: For anything in the 'Burger' section of the menu, you can sub the beef for chicken or black bean burger. The beef patties were HUGE - probably 1/2 pound . And no skimping on the toppings here so go there really hungry or split with a friend. They were messy, drippy, and once you pick the sucker up, you hang on for dear life so the bun or toppings don't slide off. To me, this is the way a truly great burger needs to be! So, prepare yourself - lots of napkins are your friends... Burgers come w/hand cut fries that are beautifully browned. Unfortunately, I opted for carryout so I knew the fries would not be very crispy due to steaming a bit during transit. I'd recommend eating fries there on-site as they will be MUCH better. So why 4 stars vs. 5?? The burger was begging for a better sear and was barely browned.

Plus, Each time we have been there, the service has been fast and friendly. I really don't know what else to say. This place is just a solid, slightly more upscale bar than the rest of the bars in Iowa city. If you're looking for a nice place to have a quiet drink, this is it. I would highly recommend the Manhattan or the Waco kid! Ps the chicken Parmesan is one of the best sandwiches I have had in my entire time in Iowa city

This, in addition to the gorgeous 70s vibes from the restaurant. Seriously, every little piece of it has a story behind it, from the tiny pigs hanging in the beads separating two parts of the restaurant to the Gene Wilder-print paper accompanying the fries. I love it. I love the way it shows the thought and care that went into every single detail. Food: Open your menu. Find the meal with the maple-glazed carrots. Order them. Thank me. Again, no idea about where exactly they're located on the menu because I tried them at a Yelp event, but they are exquisite. The best-tasting carrots I've ever eaten. Like, I found myself wanting a plate of veggies. That should speak volumes. They also get their desserts daily from Bread Garden, and if you've ever stopped by (it's literally next door, so I would hope so), they're more like the Bread Eden. So in other words, you can expect a lot from their desserts. I had pie served on an artfully decorated plate with fresh cream on top, and I was two seconds away from licking my plate it was so good. Drinks: Their cocktails are AMAZING. I can already picture spring and summer, stopping by for a quick bite and a cocktail on their patio. This place is in an ideal location, and with excellent beverages and yummy apps, what's not to love? Decor: Did I mention it's awesome? Yeah. It's awesome. This isn't a huge restaurant, but it's worth noting that the space is divided, so it could easily accommodate a larger group with a more private dining vibe on the far side of the room. I can't wait to come back!
