Small, 5-booth hamburger joint with retro look and 50s/60s classic rock on the jukebox. This looks like Al's Diner from Happy Days or Mel's from American Graffiti. Fun place with limited menu. However meals made to order so expect a short wait. The oversized sack of perfectly seasoned salty fries complemented a simple, tasty burger piled with fried onions. You'll want to stop here if you're nearby.

SO good!! We will be back. The place is small but don't skip it, these are some of the best burgers I've had. We ordered the pastrami burger - usually I prefer a medium cook, the burger patty appeared well done but it was fantastic, well seasoned and still juicy. The pastrami was also tender and flavorful. Fries are hand cut & came out hot and crispy, and they wouldn't divulge the secret seasoning but it was so addicting - I want to say maybe a hint of truffle salt? Either way I was stuffed but I kept eating them. They were so good on their own I totally ignored the ketchup. Was a bit of a wait for our food, but worth it because it's all cooked fresh to order. I'll for sure come back, probably even make the 45 minute drive from home just to get my hands on this burger again!

Where do I start?! Fresh burgers, fresh fries, fresh veggies... well some veggies, mostly meat, and $3.50 craft brews!!!! Seriously the burgers here are amazing. We're from California, visiting my grandma in Ark-city and getting off the plane a guy told me about this place, well, to you sir I owe much gratitude. These burgers are the best I've ever eaten. Better than inn n out and even dare I say sliders in San Jose . My two year old is extremely picky and ate an entire cheeseburger. The lady behind the grill was focused and sweet. Thank you! In my humble opinion this place could put Arkansas City on the map with foodies. Good work guys!!!!! P.S. THE MUSIC ROCKS

    It's not just a burger, it's a relationship.

This burger shack is delicious. Today the fries were a little too crispy but they were a little busy and it usually comes out perfect otherwise. The burgers have fresh ingredients and the Pattie's are thick and juicy. The atmosphere inside is inspired by unique military paraphernalia and a mix of sci-fi tv shows and movies. It is a very clean establishment and they even offer a cold refreshing beer to go with your meal. The staff and owner are always very friendly and are in good standing with our community.

Nice burgers. There is chili here too. Bring your appetite and leave full. If you a little old fashioned, you're home.

You have to visit. Go out of your way. It's worth it. Ask about their specials. They usually run out. Great decor. Comfortable environment Fresh and tasty food. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff.

Great little hole in the wall spot with super friendly staff. Burger was cooked fast and tasted delicious. The fries are fresh cut and delicious as well. The inside decor is really cool too with tons of vintage signs and accessories. The jukebox jams were on point too. Go here, NOW!

My son approved of the cheeseburger

Delicious burgers and fries! Our family inhaled their food. Definitely recommend! We got the cheeseburger for 3 of us and they recommended their spicy burger (can't remember the name exactly but "screaming" maybe?) and we all shared some fries and it was great!!

Walked in and immediately left. The whole place smelled like rotten sewage. Hard pass.

So glad we stumbled upon this small burger restaurant while in Ark City for a memorial service.

I have to first say, I love Shindigs. Winfield is blessed to have them. The food is great, and the…read morestaff is very personable, and they cater to requests that are slightly off menu very well, and thank you for that. Now, why am I dropping from five to four stars? The staff leadership. Where is it? Where is an experienced leader to help ensure the customers' needs are met? What I see is a very young (and very sweet) staff operating largely unsupervised. Tonight, for example. My wife and I got dressed for dinner, and showed up sans reservation. All good. I made my way to the bar to get drinks for my wife and me, while my wife checked us in. We were seated in a booth fairly quickly upstairs. Our server took good care of us, despite how busy it was. So far so good. My wife ordered a yummy sandwich, and I ordered the Yard Bird, essentially a grilled chicken breast. I ordered asparagus and a side salad to go along with it. We sat there for a bit, but things were busy, and all was good. We were having a great time. Here's where they could do better, and it feels very typical as we're eating there - a lot. After sitting for a while our food came, but here's the deal. The salad wasn't delivered early, as is customary. It came with my entrée. By the time I enjoyed my salad, and the vinaigrette was outstanding, the chicken and asparagus was cold. I just boxed it up and took it home. Really? How hard is this, folks? Your food is priced at big boy prices, but the overall service is not up to the prices you charge. Here are a few more examples. These are simple things that can be fixed, if anyone bothers to: Since I moved here over a year ago, I've developed a liking for their onion rings. We frequently order them as an appetizer. In that year, guess how many times when the appetizer is delivered to the table (usually by a member of the kitchen staff and not by our server) that we have plates for each person to use? Zero. Not once in the last year. All we can do is try to catch the kitchen staff member before they walk away and ask for plates. Then we wait as our appetizer cools off for the plates. Who's guiding these kids? Next, order iced tea. You'll get your tea, but many, many times with such a minimum of ice that you have to ask the server for more ice before you're even a third through. On the tea thing, if you order iced tea with lemon, in my experience you'll get the lemon you ordered only about half the time, and you have to follow up. Additionally, when you're done with your first glass of tea and you're due for a refill, it would be outstanding if, when a refill is placed in front of you, it had lemon as well. It's so simple, right? Back to tonight's dinner. We had dinner in a booth upstairs, but we decided to move downstairs for coffee and dessert at the bar. But wait, the coffee machine is broken, so no coffee. We left, and went to another restaurant for dessert. I love the people at Shindigs, and it pains me to give this feedback. I'm a foodie, and I appreciate good service and tip accordingly. I'm not one with restaurant experience, other than from a customer perspective. It just seems to me that someone should be teaching basic expectations to the staff, then hold them accountable for providing it. I assume the teaching has taken place, I just don't see the accountability by a leader following up.
