The food was fresh and tasted good, but the staff were rude and snooty. Would maybe go back

Maybe it was good at some point or, maybe we had a really off day, but our experience was pretty subpar. Our server seemed like she had no idea what was going on and that she didn't want to be there that day. At one point, another server brought something over and my daughter asked "is our server new" and the other server said no, she had been there several years. So there was no excuse for not knowing answers to basic questions on menu items. None of our food was bad, but none of it was great, either. Everything was just OK. Not much flavor and pretty generic. Things like pancakes that you think couldn't get screwed up were boring and flavorless. Our last hope was the "famous" pies that our server told us about several times. When we asked about what flavors they had that day, she said she had to check (which seemed odd after telling us about them several times). Then she had to go back and check the flavors again because she forgot them. We did end up trying boston cream pie and dutch apple pie and they were both OK, but not anything that I couldn't find somewhere else. Overall, really disappointed in basically everything about our visit here.

The prepared items cover everything from prepared deli salads and cheese to hot sauces and pickles to locally processed meat. I'm not into the butcher aspect, but I appreciate the local and sustainable sourcing. The food is good and well thought out. The space is very nicely designed and well maintained. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated that they were willing to prepare a breakfast sandwich for me and my partner with the ham on the side. Everybody won, with me getting a vegetarian breakfast sandwich and my partner getting some sliced ham to add to her portion. All told, this is an excellent establishment for a low key outing while you're visiting Ligonier. The hours are extensive, so it fills just about any breakfast/lunch/snack type need. It honestly has the feel of an early stage Starbucks with a friendly "enjoy this space with friends" vibe combined with a hip local grocery store.

What I can't quite figure out is the flow of the place. The way you order, receive your food, and move through the restaurant just feels awkward and oddly unwelcoming. I've also tried several of the sweet treats thinking maybe I just caught the bakers on an off day the first time, but unfortunately they've been disappointing more than once. I'm honestly confused by all the glowing reviews. The ambience is great, but the overall experience just hasn't lived up to the hype for me.

Nonetheless, if…read moreprecautions are taken, expectations set by management are followed through, I can't imagine why the indoor seating at an establishment such as this would be closed. It is frankly unacceptable. Now, if even after all those considerations are taken into account you still feel strongly to keep your indoors closed, well then, step up your drive through game. The line stretching around the building and barely moving for a solid 5-7 minutes is unacceptable as well. The only times we moved forward were when two other vehicles left the line. We did the same realizing it really wasn't worth our time to get food from this place with so many others in the area open for indoor traffic. Once I notice their indoor seating is open once more will be the next time I'll consider giving them a try. Until then? Best of luck to them.. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As requested by the Business Manager, I followed the link and left a comment. I look forward to hearing from someone at DQ soon. Thanks.
