My parents met at this restaurant back in the 70's, I hear many story's of big partys and good times being had here.... Those days must be long gone with the price rates on the menu. I enjoyed the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and had a Caesar to wash it down but that will be my last meal here unless prices change. There's no reason for price gouging on fries and 8 wings for $17.99..... that's insane. I couldn't justify paying that for 8 wings, or even getting a side fries for $3.99.

So sad that people would have to pay $6-8 extra because they can't eat potatoes/fries to eat something healthier that isn't more expensive. Three times is the last time. We won't be back.

This Canadian fast food chain serves up grilled burgers (Original, Double Original, Great Canadian), grilled hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, grilled veggie burgers, chicken strips, fries, onion rings, poutines, salads, l'il kids combos, Pepsi fountain pop and milkshakes. They are also featuring the Great Canadian Pulled Pork Burger on the menu. I wish they offered a Pulled Pork Sandwich (without the burger patty). The prices for most individual sandwiches & burgers $3.99-$6.79 (hot dog $2.69) and you can combo it with fries and pop for $2.50 more. The sandwiches/burgers are made to order with choices of toppings. Since I was not very hungry but it was lunch time, I got a L'il Original Combo ($3.99 plus HST) with Fries and Diet Pepsi and no toy. The burger came hot off the grill with grease covering the patty, placed on an open bun and topped to order with my topping choices (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, & ketchup). The greasy burger patty was average with a very firm and very chewy texture. The overall taste of the burger was good. The fries were okay and not too greasy. All i said was "never mind give me a refund i'll go somewhere else" which given the situation was me being respectful to avoid further problems. The person who came over to give the refund who i respectfully refer to as the neck tatoo'd hippie as i don't know his name was mumbling under his breath at me and when i said "debit please" he responds with " so you want to pay now" i told him no i want it on my debit card. He lashed out mumbling something about you want a refund i'll give you a refund then hands me change instead of putting it on my debit. I was stern but respectful till he handed my change but underhanded comments i hear in the backround and after his behavior i looked at him as i left and told him your behavior and service is unacceptable you need to get this place togeather. The hippies response was "what do you expect were fast food", i didn't know rude behavior when asked to fix an order they made a mistake on was a valid excuse.

The A&W/KFC location (Salem, NH) near my home closed up, which was mediocre anyways. I used to stop at that particular A&W location for the root beer floats, which served flat root beer most of the time and the employees there could care less. I hoped the next visit would be better than the previous visit, but it just didn't happen there. This A&W Restaurant in Saint John resembles a retro 1950s style drive-in restaurant which has a self serve dining room and drive-thru. A&W serves up their signature Burger Family Combos including Papa, Mama, Double Mama, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Teen, Double Teen, Chicken Grill Deluxe, Veggie Deluxe, Chubby Chicken Strips, Chubby Burger, and Chubby Fried Chicken buckets. They are also featuring Sirloin Uncle Burger Combos too! The Combos come with choice of fries or side salad (similar concept to Wendy's) and A&W Root Beer. For additional charge(s), you can upgrade to onion rings or poutine instead of fries and also upgrade from a root beer to a root beer float. The A&W Restaurants in the USA do not serve poutines, but also serve up hot dogs, chili dogs, corn dog nuggets, fried cheese curds, and ice cream treats. I stopped by this A&W Restaurant recently for a Root Beer Float ($2.99 plus HST), which was served in a cold glass mug with hard packed vanilla ice cream and cold A&W Root Beer, foaming over the top, ahhhhhhh!!! This A&W Root Beer Float is what a root beer float should be, a very refreshing and frosty treat with plenty of carbonation in the root beer, a far contrast from the "flat" root beer floats at the "now closed" A&W (Salem, NH) near my home.
