I had gone here again a few years ago right when they reopened and failed to leave a review. So I'm rectifying that now! I got ten Coney Dogs to go for my family and they were spectacular. Just the perfect blend of all of the right things that taste like coming home. The decor is exactly the same as I remember it from over the years too--electric green and orange. The dining room was recently renovated. There are 2-3 menu kiosks and well as 2 registers behind the counter. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Prices are EXCELLENT. Just as important: there are healthy options on the menu with sugar-free packets (Equal and Splenda) located at the beverage station. They recently added coke zero to the beverage options. There is also unsweetened tea. Definitely friendly to people on sugar or carb restricted diets. You can even order sandwiches without the bun without any difficulty or confusion. They are really great about this. Dining room is very accessible to wheelchairs. Both dining room and restrooms are extremely clean. This location is located near the downtown Johnstown portions of Conemaugh Medical Center and is very friendly and accommodating to health-conscious customers and those with special needs. I'm glad I finally did to check this place of my to try list. From the outside, it looks like a typical hole-in-the-wall bar in the Johnstown area. The amount of items on the menu, if you haven't been here before, can be daunting. It took me a few minutes to just give it a once over. When the server came back around to take our drink order she asked if we needed a few more minutes, yes, we did. When she returned I was ready to go. I ordered the Pickle Chips as my appetizer and the Howler as my main. The Pickle Chips were served with a side of ranch for dipping and they were amazing. Perfectly coated, not too much and not too little. Dipping in the ranch cooled them down just enough to be enjoyable. Now, the Howler, is kind of an experience. The Howler is one of their signature burgers. Half-pound patty cooked to your liking. The set toppings on this burger is bacon, choice of cheese (American Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone, or Pepper Jack), meat sauce, and a fried egg. You also can choose to add lettuce tomato onion and pickle. For mine, I went American for the cheese, lettuce, onion and pickle. There really wasn't any need for condiments as there was already so much on the burger to give it flavor. It almost comes off as either a breakfast burger or a chili cheese burger. Another good thing about this is that they have a drive-thru so you don't have to get out of your car if you are only here to grab and go. It is located off the main drag, so you will have to either traverse the residential aspect of the neighborhood or the somewhat congested small commercial row before you come upon this. Food is standard for the chain and staff seem to be polite. But I know how working at an ice cream shop can be...somewhat boring.
