I went with the Cod fish minus the bun and Onion Straws. Service was good. A menu was brought right away plus my drink order was taken. My food order was taken right away and my drink was delivered. My food was delivered soon after and all was delicious and well cooked. The check was put on the table before I finished so I could leave as quickly as I wished.

Parking is strictly on the street with angled parking across the street facing the courthouse. Once the courthouse closes, probably around five, I would imagine a lot of those spaces will open up. I arrived at 4:30 pm and got a parallel spot right in front of the restaurant. There were two more available on my side of the street as well. I ordered the Beer Battered Fish, Shrimp & Chips with coleslaw. FYI: The menu prices list on their Yelp listing are out of date. My bad for not posting a new one. This entree is now $36 as well as the Beef Filet but they are the most expensive items, everything else is scaled down from there. I'll post an updated menu the next time I stop in which will most likely be very soon. I didn't go with the Spicy Horseradish Cocktail Sauce and substituted ketchup instead. The coleslaw was okay, a little milky for my taste but still good. The tartar sauce was very good. The shrimp were big. It took 2-3 bites to finish one. Two large filets of their fish which was light on batter around thickly cut portions of fish. All extremely good. I managed to finish all of it and still have room for dessert. Then there was a dump truck load of french fries covering the entire large plate, lol. Two or three people could share those fries easily. These were their plain fries, NOT the Truffle Parmesan Fries. If I wasn't watching my weight I would have tried to devour all those fries because they were excellent, cooked perfectly, exactly the way I like them. For dessert, I chose the Italian Lemon Cake. It was the bomb! Not a huge portion (YAY) to help you avoid feeling over stuffed. I'll be ordering that dessert again for sure. It tasted so good. It wasn't too heavy on the lemon flavor which I loved. Looks like I have found a new regular restaurant for my dining needs. I want to try the filet steak for dinner next and one of their sandwiches for lunch.

Well worth the $20 and by the way all of that went to charity so kudos to them. the unfortunate thing for us was we got there at 3:30 and got great seats however it got so crowded people were walking all over you. if you wanted a beer or a mixed drink it was well over a 30 minute wait. we ended up leaving about 6:30 PM because we were getting trampled by people and there was no way to get any thing to drink without at least a 30 minute wait. it was pretty disappointing. One lone person took orders and operated the register. All I wanted was a concrete mixer, but the woman in front of me wanted a complete explanation of how her points worked, and she wanted to weigh her options for getting something for nothing. Meanwhile, I cooled my heels while several employees were darting around and others sat at the tables, but all were oblivious to the need to keep things moving. Even Kroger doesn't treat customers with this level of disdain. I asked the register operator for a manager, and that produced two deer-in-the-headlights kids who had never been confronted with anything but empty praise for showing up. The so-called manager said he was sorry, but when I asked him what he was going to do to fix it, I thought he'd gone unconscious while still standing. This idea had never occurred to him. All this while three employees smoked and joked at a table. Well, I could go on, but I'm sorry that I didn't stop in Bloomington, where they seem to have things together. Their cute little restaurant is across from the post office. I wanted a sandwich to go and they had $13 lunch specials that included a selection of sandwiches, a side and drink. I selected the brisket sandwich with spicy bbq sauce, cole slaw and I grabbed a unsweetened ice tea. The clerk was friendly and I had a short wait. The dining room is neat and tidy with old photos of Martinsville and subtle pig decor. Outside is a really nice covered patio where pets are welcome. My food came out quickly in a paper bag with my name on it. The BBQ brisket was phenomenal. The sandwich had several generous slices of thick brisket with slightly burnt ends, but moist and tender inside. The meat melted into the bun, which was soft and fresh. This was the best bbq sandwich I'd had in a long time. The spicy sauce, came on the side, was really delicious, too. The cole slaw is prepared in-house, finely chopped with a sweet vinegar dressing. It was crunchy and good, and a I've portion. Easy 5 star lunch. Free street parking. I'd stop by every time I'd mail a letter if I lived here. And I'd mail a lot of letters.
