Since it has been over 5 years since my last review here, it is time for an update. I am posting new photos of the menu as well since it has changed considerably. The dining room still looks the same to me. A local restaurant where you sit where you would like upon arrival. The special today was Kinda Mini Tenderloin sandwich with one side. I went with the Cod fish minus the bun and Onion Straws. Service was good. A menu was brought right away plus my drink order was taken. My food order was taken right away and my drink was delivered. My food was delivered soon after and all was delicious and well cooked. The check was put on the table before I finished so I could leave as quickly as I wished. read more

This place has great comfort food and big breakfast servings. We had a large party and they easily accommodated us. Kids are welcome and were encouraged to color a paper and stick it right in the wall! Our waitress was super friendly and full of down home sass! I don't know what I enjoyed more, filling my belly with comfort or our waitress who had us laughing at her humor! The decor was full of country humor as well. Move-in weekend for the IU students in Bloomington, so we wanted to have breakfast out of town to avoid the crowds. Yelp led us to Martinsville and we are happy it did. Come N Git It is located on a corner of the square in Martinsville. Plenty of street parking is available. We walked in and there was a sign that said to wait to be seated. The place was crowded with locals, and most of the Martinsville fire department was there having breakfast. A VERY good sign. We were seated right away and our coffee order arrived quickly. Nice sized menu with plenty of choices. The coffee was hot and fresh and our server brought us plenty of cream. We ordered bacon, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and a pancake. The food was ready pretty quickly, especially considering how crowded the place was getting. Huge plates of delicious food. Really enjoyed the hash browns and the eggs look like they are farm fresh, with beautiful yolks. The biscuits were tender and fluffy, the bacon was crisp exactly how I ordered it. The owner, Jackie, came around to check in with everyone. She loves what she is doing and it shows through the service and the food. Very affordable, I think it was about $15 for each of us. Very happy to have found a great, local, woman-owned spot near our home. You should definitely check it out. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while. We have always been to late - they close at 3:00. We were very pleased. We arrived around 1:30. I missed the restaurant as I thought it was an antique store. The eating area is decorated with old woodworking tools and delightful pictures drawings made by children and left for the staff. This place has a very relaxed, down home feeling. My wife's first concern is cleanliness. Even though they had been open since 8:00, this place was spotless. Second, is service. If you have been experiencing bad service, you need to come here. You would be hard pressed to find better. We talked with the manager at the end of the meal about the amazing service. Ever time we had wanted a drink napkin or box to go, it showed up without us asking by different servers. We were checked on just the right amount of times by 3 different servers and the the manager at the end of the meal to make sure the meal was perfect. The manager told us that there are no sections in this restaurant. Everyone is there to make your experience the best it can be. It was! Finally, the food which was made to order and served still quite warm. So many places let it sit in the window and cool until the service has time. The wife ordered the 1/2 order of breaded chicken salad. It was the perfect size for her. I had to order the pork tenderloin with all the fixings - I'm from Indiana, what can I say. I'm posting two pictures of it. The first is with the bun hidden under the tenderloin. I tried the cat and stack method for the second pic. There is no way you could open your mouth wide enough to tackle this. I had to gave up and bring the second half home for dinner. It hung over both sides of my Aunt Millie"s bread. Solid four, maybe a 4.5 star experience. I stopped in while exploring the Martinsville/Morgantown area and wasn't sure what to expect. After parking by the courthouse, I stepped into the restaurant and was told I could sit where ever I liked. I grabbed a high 2 top along the right side of the aisle that runs down the length of the restaurant. Soon, a waitress took my beverage order and let me look over the menu. They have a lot of breakfast items including breakfast wraps that I thought was something I don't see at most diners. But since it was already a late lunch, I went with the tenderloin (I chose breaded) and picked the 'Git It Ribbons' as a side. Before long, my basket arrived with a huge tenderloin that covered both halves of the bun side by side! The buns were dressed as I had requested...I just couldn't see them until I lifted the tenderloin. The other half of the basket was filled with thin, spiral cut potatoes...think one large potato chip that expands like an accordion! They offer those plain or seasoned to fit your tastes. Back to the tenderloin, this wasn't some thin pounded to death piece of meat. Instead, the tenderloin was nearly a half inch thick which allowed it to stay moist and tender. The breading had just enough seasoning to give it a balanced flavor...not bland and pasty. And though the menu said it was 10+ oz, that was an understatement. I used my knife and a to go box and figured my meal was nearly 14 ounces of breaded delight! (It made for a nice second meal later.) I will say that the only area of improvement could be on the service. Only one gal was handling taking orders for the entire restaurant (another guy helped bus part of the time.) Another person sat at the checkout counter where you pay. My service was good most of the meal, but when I was ready to check out, it seemed like I had trouble getting the servers attention. She never did bring a bill, but told me that my bill was waiting at the front desk. That seems like an odd way to do things. I'm not sure why they don't tell you that they have a different method of bill paying so that you don't waste your time waiting. Oh well, the food was good and the service was generally good too. I try to shop the local eateries as much as possible versus the big chains, so I decided to try this place on my way home and have a late breakfast. Most reviews were positive and the menu looked good. So the good points were the place was pretty full, always a good sign. The wait staff was good and attentive. The bad was the food was really not that good. I had the Granny gravy bowl meal which is a half order of biscuits and gravy and potatoes. I chose the fried potatoes. The food was just very bland. I could tell it was home-made, but there literally was not a traditional sausage gravy taste and the food just didn't sit well with me. I debated about going with lunch item instead, but most everyone was having a breakfast item so I followed the crowd. The food made it underwhelming for me. read more

A good small town restaurant! They have lots of experience in making country breakfast and it shows. You won't be disappointed if you like pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage and gravy. If you prefer quiche and a vegetarian fare look elsewhere. They are also open for lunch and you can't go wrong with the tenderloin sandwich. Some of the other items like the fish sandwich need work. Just discovered this little gem. Great friendly service with a hometown diner feel. One of the things they are known for is their tenderloin sandwich, and rightly so. Available grilled or "breaded" (seems more like a cross of breaded and battered, having the best of both worlds), strongly recommend the latter. Fresh made, truly tender, juicy, and delicious, complete with your choice of toppings. Be forewarned, it's nearly as big as your head, so easily shareable. Pairs perfectly with their onion straws which are crispy-tender and sweet. If you're a bacon lover, then the BLT is for you. It truly is piled with bacon. Now my second favorite sandwich. This was our first time, but certainly not the last. Nice menu with many choices. Lots of breakfast options, too, served all day. This was our first time here. We arrived around 7:15, and they closed at 8pm. They had no problem seating us at that time, and also seated several people that came in after us. That's always nice to see. I ordered the chicken and noodles special which came with two sides. The two sides that I chose were fried potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Everything was pretty good. My taters were served on the same plate as the chicken and noodles, so there was some soupiness to them. However, I decided to just combine the two things when I ate them, and was pleased with the result. Yum! The mac and cheese was good. Pretty standard. Why the three stars? After we were served our meals, we were NEVER checked on. No one asked us how our meal was. Our drinks ran dry without refills. All of the servers were rolling silverware and chatting and laughing amongst themselves. They paid attention to no one at that point. We were finally offered drinks to go when we were presented with our check. Our meals were tasty, so I might come back and give them another try. Decor is made up of family heirlooms and related items. The owner's father in law was a staff artist at Purdue University and many of his sketches and prints are on display as well. Their specialty is country style comfort food - pork tenderloin is available breaded or grilled, burgers are large and handmade, breakfast is available all day. Service is friendly. We arrived at approximately 1:30p and was able to sit immediately at a table of our choice as the breakfast/lunch crowds had already dissipated. Service was great and the the cleanliness very noticeable. I had the breaded pork tenderloin and it did not disappoint! It's huge and meaty but not pounded to death....it comes plain but you can add any toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and mayo on the side for me). I chose house 'Git it ribbons' chips for my side and they were very warm and crispy (not greasy like some other places in town). My wife had the grilled chicken strip salad with ranch dressing. It was a good size salad and very fresh. The croutons tasted house made and the ranch seemed to be from a bottle rather than house made with buttermilk. Tried this place since I was in town and they were open. Hours are typical small town diner hours(open for breakfast and lunch, closed for dinner). Upon arrival the waitress came out immediately to take my drink order. Very few people here even though it was before 1pm. Decor is cracker barrelish. I asked what the specials were as directed on the back of the menu but the waitress said they only have specials on Thursday and Friday. Prices seem high for small diner($4.79 1/2 order biscuits gravy, $9.50 for Denver omelette). I looked at the al a carte menu and could order a biscuit for $1.49 and a side of gravy for $1.49 so not sure why so much for 1/2 order biscuits and gravy. Deterred by high breakfast prices I opted for breaded tenderloin with onion rings. Food took approximately 12 minutes to be delivered. Tenderloin is bigger than bun as most are.
