The parking lot is always crowded, so a heads up in advance if you read this review. I live across the street from one of their locations so I can just walk instead of worrying about finding a parking spot. I ordered the 6 piece chicken tender combo. The food is always hot when it's ready. The complimentary bird sauce is good, though mild it has a kick to it. Chicken is always cooked thick and well, and the crunch to the chicken tenders is sweet and juicy with tons of flavor. This is my favorite place for chicken tenders or a chicken sandwich - thank you for the hospitality hot birds 831 and I look forward to my next visit.

There were number of people in the back who looked like they didn't want to be there. Finally someone washed their hands and came out. Again, no greeting. I ordered my tamales and they went into the back and packed them. They silently brought them out, then a woman came out to take my credit card. The only thing she said was "¿Recibo?". I said "adios" as I left, no response. Very strange. BTW, the price on the web site is incorrect. Got the tamales home and put them in the steamer. After a while I plated them and started to unwrap them. Some had a lot of masa on the outside of the corn husk which made them fall apart, revealing very little filling. The masa was not the tasty fluffy masa I'd had in the past but dry and basically tasteless. The fillings, what little there, was not enjoyable. This was a real disappointment. We try to support local businesses but with the number of other places offering tamales, we'll not be returning.

Watsonville varies the most and does the worst when it's bad. Inconsistency. I always order the 2 for 1 four pieces. Biscuit, no biscuit, one biscuit, napkins, no napkins, condiments, no condiments. It was at a 3-4-star average until today. The Watsonville location gave me one four pieces with three pieces. The other had four pieces, but two of those were legs just a tad bigger than my thumbs, and they were dry enough to throw and cause injury (note, the trash can was not injured). So, when it's good it's great, and when it's bad it's a flat out rip-off disappointment. To date, just one of the five or six orders over the past 2-3 months were from San Carlos. That one had good chicken, no napkins, biscuit, or condiments, but the chicken was good enough to not earn a bad review, so that would have been a 4-star review. Watsonvile experiences dragged this to a one star. So, I'm done gambling with the Watsonville location for good. Not ten minutes after writing this review I decided not to sit quietly with this inedible trash, so I called the Watsonville store and asked for the manager, who was the one who answered the call. I informed him of my displeasure, I made it clear I did not want anything in return, just to give a heads up as to why they're losing a customer. Common with these places, losing one means little as they will always have more.
