    The Tokyo roll
    Dana L.

Came here to pickup food for a Dr office (this is her fav sushi spot in town) and decided to come early, so I didn't have to eat in my car for once!lol The Dr office placed the order over the phone, so it would be ready for me, which surprised me, since each time I have tried to call the order in previously, they never pick up! I ordered the albacore tataki appetizer, which was pretty good! It comes with grated garlic and ginger, and is served in a ponzu sauce! For lunch I got the Tokyo roll, which was really fresh tasting! It comes with the smallest amount of tempura, but it's not overpowering at all, so the focus is more on the fresh fish (spicy tuna, tuna and hamachi). The service was really good! They had all my to go stuff ready for me, and the waiter even offers to help me to my car! And I noticed that they sell sweatshirts that say "40 years of business" so this place has been here for forever!

Tried Miyuki for the first time since it is very established. It did not disappoint! From the delicious local wines, beers, and ciders to the very fresh sushi. Service was on point and they generally care about your experience and making sure you're taken care of!

Fresh, high quality, and fast service! Ordered a spider roll, a Jenny roll and five different kinds of nigiri: scallop (Kaibashira), Oyster (Kaki), Aji (Striped Jack), Kanpachi (Amberjack) and Amaebi (Spot Prawn). Everything was super fresh and well-prepared + presented. Waitress showed great hospitality and explained the local beer offerings in detail as well. A real gem in Watsonville! House was completely packed for dinner both inside and outside. That's how you know it's a good place to eat!

Worth the drive from Santa Cruz!!!! Get there early, it fills up fast. It was so good, we went back two nights in a row. Exceptional food with solid service. 45 years in business for a reason! Do not let the front exterior deter you. Parking in back. I highly recommend trying Miyuki.

Dynamite mussels--pretty good and has a little kick

Glad we chose this restaurant for dinner! We made the mistake of not making a reservation beforehand as it was completely packed on a Friday evening. There's indoor and outdoor covered seating with a heated patio. Luckily, there was open seating at the bar so my sister and I sat there. We indulged in a variety of dishes, including the mussel dynamite, jenny roll, philly roll, spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna roll, and Miyuki 3 dinner combo (Chicken Katsu, chicken teriyaki, & sashimi). The freshness of the fish was outstanding. I believe we were supposed to get miso soup and a salad with our dinner combo, but we didn't mind that our server forgot about it, given the generous portion sizes of our other selections. I didn't understand the purpose of the broccoli with the kewpie mayo that came with the dinner combo. The sushi rolls are not tightly packed so they do easily fall apart, but the rice they use is good. The rolls are also massive so you will get full from it. All of the ingredients they use are fresh. I probably would have liked if there was some sort of sauce on the rolls, but they're still tasty alone. Parking options include two small dedicated lots, but street parking is also available, albeit limited. In summary, the food was excellent, the staff friendly, service prompt, and the prices reasonable.

Ramen night, the threads of chili were a beautiful topping and the. Chashu was thick...broth serving deep richness !

Amazing staff and chefs, tiny but friendly and spotless space and the food is fresh and made Clearly with love, reasonable for high quality food and super friendly and attentive staff, place is spotless and obvious pride in ownership and service

We had an excellent dinner here, I understand what all of the good reviews are about. It is not a large place, so definitely make reservations even on a weeknight. Parking was a bit painful as there is a tiny lot in front but that lot was blocked by some truck so it was tricky to get out of. There is parking around back, where there is a large mural with the Japanese flag, so that is an option and there is a back entrance so you can get inside from there, but otherwise look for street parking. The place can hold almost twice as many folks in good weather as there is a good sized back patio. We came on a Weds night and it was full, we didn't have a reservation and there were 4 parties ahead of us. We were fine with sitting at the sushi bar so we were able to sit there immediately. The chefs and servers were great. The owner is very friendly and nice, helped my friend navigate items that were vegan - on request they can make a tempura batter without eggs that was excellent, so if you are vegan you can request that - it takes some extra time so be patient. Chef also said that the wonton wrappers for their homemade gyoza might contain egg which was thoughtful. We started with the homemade veggie gyoza that had edamame and veggies in them. The gyoza were freshly grilled and delicious. My friend likes the fermented soybeans natto and they had them as an option as sushi or alone in a bowl on request, he got the sushi form and loved it. The vegetable tempura was excellent, with 5 kinds of vegetables, wonderfully light batter, cooked perfectly and a great dipping sauce. I had the dragon roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, and unagi - it was really excellent and had a generous helping of wasabi and ginger. A regular customer had a birthday and they turned out the lights to bring out a cupcake with a candle and everyone snag happy birthday, it was very sweet. Clearly many local regulars come here which is always a good sign. Super friendly and accommodating, delicious food and good atmosphere, everything you want for a good dinner.

Unagi Don and Age Dashi Tofu

Omgawwwdd! So very very fresh and yummy! Tokyo, Japan quality sushi and entrees! I am an unagi anything lover and this restaurant serves 10/10 bbq eel! All of the nigiri of Hamachi, tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail and of course unagi was of excellent quality. Special rolls of Dragon, Futomaki, Rainbow and Spicy Tuna Tokyo were deliciously devoured. My sis and I had to order out fav Agedashi dofu which was perfectly cooked. That is difficult to do; in keeping the thin layer of outside crisp on the soft tofu while soaked in its own light and savory broth. Our teenage boys ordered a pork katsudon and a chicken udon. They ate it all down to the last piece of rice and the last sip of broth! We were a party of 7 and there was nothing left on the table! Maybe a dab of wasabi left. The 2 included pictures are only 1/3 of what we ordered. Every table inside the restaurant was occupied by 6:30pm. We reserved an early Saturday seating at 5:30pm just to be accommodated on a short notice. This is an awesome sushi restaurant to dine at for any celebrations! (my birthday)

The inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. There is a large beautiful mural on one of the walls that really stands out. We started with a tempura mix appetizer. This is the first time I have had tempura veggies that were soggy. Not crunchy at all, which took away from the taste and experience. The dipping sauce also lacked flavor. For my dish, I ordered their salmon teriyaki and crunch roll lunch. It came with miso soup, salad, and rice. The miso soup was good. The salad dressing was delicious. The salmon was unfortunately overcooked and a bit stiff. The rice was dry too and not the typical sushi rice that I am used to, so that took away from the tastiness of the meal. The crunch roll was not my favorite. The sauce drizzled on top was spicy, but I did like it. There was not much of a crunch for a crunch roll. I unfortunately did not have a great experience with the food as some items were soggy or dry and they are not supposed to be. The salad dressing and miso soup were the tastiest items I tried.

The sushi selection and quality isn't mind-blowing here, but it's not really the point! This is a sushi CAFE and not a sushi restaurant. Like, emphasis on the cafe part. You don't go to a coffee shop for their sandwiches, but they do usually have some on the menu, right? If you put it in that perspective, this place rocks. :) The hojicha iced latte I got absolutely slapped! I could have drank a gallon of it. So nice and earthy and fresh-tasting! My husband got a butterfly pea flower drink that he said was also really refreshing and lovely. We got some musubi and onigiri along with our sushi and they were pretty solid! I especially was DELIGHTED that not only do they have a little selection of tasty wagashi, but they have my #1 favorite: mitarashi dango!!! And it's the GOOD and tasty brand, not the yucky shirakiku one that most asian markets sell. These cafe owners have hella good taste.

Parking was only mildly challenging, as a space opened up after only a single lap around the block. Inside here, you'll find a busy place with a few tables and individual bar-style (partitioned!) paired seating along the walls adjacent to the kitchen in the middle part of the restaurant. Order up at the self-serve order kiosks, tap in your table/counter number, and they bring out your order in a couple of minutes. We had six of us in our party, and most of us kept it simple by ordering the default Tonkatsu Ramen with different customizable options. Most all of the ingredients in this order were on point - The Chasu Pork Belly was tender, thick and delicious, ramen noodles nothing special, but generally stil on point, as were the bamboo shoots. However, the co-star/centerpiece of the Tonkatsu Ramen other than the Chasu Pork slab should be the broth, but sadly the broth was far far TOO salty which overpowered the other flavors in the broth. Chasu Pork 4.8/5, Tonkatsu Ramen 3.1/5. Service was good as everyone was hustling hard in the kitchen, along with attentive bussers/waitstaff to quickly turn tables. They take good care in wiping down the tables here. If I return, I'll just get the Paitan Ramen like I did in years past, as that seemed less salty. Then again the Paitan soup base begins with the same chicken+pork soup base as the Tonkatsu Ramen. I hope Toribashi will step back up to their former glory.
