I'm talking about Burger Land in Madison WI. It was terrible. I ordered via Grub Hub and was given something completely different from what I ordered. Plus, there were gobs of ketchup over everything. I had not expected ketchup, it was not listed on the ingredients, and there was no way to note "no ketchup please." The fries, those that were not drowned in ketchup were pretty good. Also ordered chili cheese fries. It came without cheese, and with ketchup, and the chili was so hot it was inedible. I got the tornado burger combo. The food was hot and fresh and delicious, it was as good a burger as anywhere. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The ambiance was simple, not at all fancy, and exactly what you want in that kind of restaurant. They were quick in their service and the price was good. Not that great... at all. Moist patty/not greasy - but no flavor either! Light char and bland meat patty with no seasoning - not even salt/pepper (gray color, low heat cook - zoom in on photo). Could not even tell it was beef by taste (no flavor at all - weird). Only serve American cheese slices - no others available. Bacon had almost no flavor, was very thin and over cooked (slightly burnt) - and was a skimpy portion. Fries ordered extra crispy and I got regular soft/no crunch fries. Sorry, but try another spot. I called to place an order, nonetheless wasted my whole lunch coming to pick up an order, I couldn't even pay for because their card reader went "down". Faces kingsley rd at the end next to subway. Ok so we tried this place cause our go to joint was closed. Their burgers are good! The guac burger was creamy and the bun was moist and fresh. Not too salty meat either and the guac was mostly avocado. Don't expect no junior size their burgers are huge. I had to cut it in half to eat it. The fries where way over seasoned for my taste, but do know people who prefer them that way. They were clearly already winding down for the evening but the man behind the counter took my order with a smile and the result a few minutes later was a flavorful, juicy burger cooked medium well. It was a generous portion -- I'd guess somewhere between a third and half a pound of meat -- and I could clearly tell the veggies were fresh and freshly prepped because I ordered them on the side. The fries were also hot, crisp and properly seasoned. All of this was just $8 with tax, which is what you will pay for an inferior meal and service at McDonald's down the street. Yum! What a find for lunch in Garland. They don't ask how you want your burger prepared, and mine was cooked through but still pretty juicy. Large patty (normal single patty is 1/2lb while the children's menu burger is 1/4lb). Huge, soft bun. I went with the mushroom cheese burger, with a little mayo. Delicious. Fries are the type that you know they cut in back, so crispy but soggy at the same time (like what your Mom made if she didn't buy Ore Ida bags). I worked my way through my 1/2lb burger and fries but, in the end, wished I'd been as smart as my friend T and ordered off the kiddy menu. Not the kind of place to go if you're in a rush. If you don't like jalapenos then I would steer away from them because Burger Land piles them on and they are spicy! The fries are wonderful and you can't beat their onion rings. This place is also owned by the gentleman that owns Burger Island. I've never been to a Burger Island but I'm sure they are great as well! I moved to Garland from downtown Dallas a year ago, and have been finding non-chain places to eat. This is a good one. I didn't order anything special (hamburger combo), but it was toasty, not dry, tasty, I'd guess a single is 5-6 ounces cooked and the "small" fries are horribly misnamed - the pictures of combo baskets for this place accurately show how big much you get. It's quiet, the man behind the counter was nice, and everything just worked. I'll be back. I was somewhat disturbed by the oldest pictures posted, complaining about cleanliness, but then noticed they were dated four years ago. It's nothing like that now - there are cracks in some of the vinyl seat covers, but nothing else to even mention, and I don't care. The burgers more than made up for that! read more

First time here. The sitting area smells like fresh baked bread from Subway next door. I contemplated on walking out and grabbing a sub instead. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The combo came to $9 which includes fries and drinks. My order was ready within 5-7 minutes. The fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The burger was delicious; however, the lettuce, onions and tomatoes were place on the bottom bun which made it soggy and made my burger fall apart. That was my only complaint. The restaurant's interior needs some work. Some ceiling panels are broken or falling, their air vents looks like they need some cleaning. Their tables were all clean though. The guy at the register who took my order needs to improve his customer service skills and soft skills. He doesn't greet people or show any interest in providing a good ordering experience for customers. When I walked up to the counter all he did was stare at me until I spoke up. He seemed annoyed and almost forced to be there. Overall, I would visit this place again just because it's down the street from my office and the food wasn't bad at all. Burger was decent, nothing to brag about but was better than the big chain fast food burgers. We both decided to get tator tots instead of fries. The reason for two stars was strictly based on portion of sides and price. $20.00 for two lunch combos when I drank water...little pricey for walk up and order type of place with print outs everywhere telling you to clean up after yourself. Wow, what a disturbing experience. I'm on a business trip with 2 other colleagues and this place was recommended by a vendor that knew of a nearby burger restaurant. We ordered the orange chicken with fried rice, cheeseburger with fries and a Philly cheesesteak. The burger and philly were decent, nothing to get excited about. The orange chicken meat was dark blue with yellow jello sauce. As were about to wrap our meal up and ask about the chicken we see our cashier, who mind you was also the prep cook (no gloves) and server as he was the only one around clipping his fingernails standing the middle of the kitchen in a very noisy manner. Went in, first impression was a bloated menu with too many items (along with burgers there is hot wings, catfish ect), the place looks run down, damaged upholstery, the ketchup on the tables is obviously old and not properly refrigerated overnight, sticky notes on the menu where they changed the prices and copious amounts of added menu items cluttered out on printer paper (all red flags to me) but, I decided to give it a try anyway. As I expected it wasn't that good. The meat tasted like it was sitting at room temperature for a bit before it was cooked and so did the fries. It was by far the messiest burger I have ever ate. The lady at the counter who I think owns the place also was very sweet. She did a very good deed, because my granddaughter had a mask on which was too big, the lady went to the back, and came back up to the front and gave my granddaughter a very nice small mask that fit her very well.
