What happened here? The food rating goes way down. Ordered the double burger with guacamole, which was okay, smaller than what they used to be but still good.Its the onion rings...they are not Real, they are the cheap nasty minced up flavored batter onion mix, it's not real onions, and they burnt them so bad they are inedible.. The fried mushroom are just as bad, soggy old with a bad after flavor, just plain nasty. These people went down hill fast after the management changed, these people went and bought the cheapest garbage of processed food. I can no longer enjoy this food that is being served here, no Quality anymore..just cheaper than the cheapest plastic bag, freezer burnt . That's a Big YUCK in my book. I do not recommend eating here anymore and I dought the new owners care at all if they serve garbage or not. Any request is not a worry if its available, like adding Bleu Cheese crumbles to a Shrimp Salad. I saw this place when I went to the nearby cheesesteak place last week and decided to give it a try for lunch. I arrived about 12:15-12:30 and was surprised to see that I was the only person there. How odd. As I was finishing my meal a couple of other people came but in general one can't help but think this restaurant's days are numbered if they don't have customers at lunch time. I am giving it 4 stars because my burger was substantial and flavorful. I enjoyed it. One of my complaints is that cooks often forget to season the meat. This meat was seasoned well. The BBQ sauce was probably from a jar but it was food nonetheless. Grilled onions were perfect. Fries were ok but could be crispier. I liked the skin on. Always a great go to for a freshly cooked burger. I usually place the order for pickup, and when they say 10 minutes, it will be ready at or before then. The jungle burger is a delightful treat with the sautéed mushrooms and jalapeños, but no worries they also make the traditional burger take you back to your last favorite picnic. read more

I'll definitely go back and try some of their other options. I got the Cheese burger on my first visit. Really big patties and fresh toppings. They will make it how ever you like your burger. I happen to like cheddar cheese-no problem. The fries were fresh cut and there were plenty to fill you up. Everything was cooked to order and you can watch them make your order in the open kitchen. Sitting in a strip crowded by other shops sits this very clean and well ran burger shop. The 1/2lb Jungle Burger was delicious. Seasoned fries and drink for $11 ish is the norm now days but def worth the 1/2 lb of beef and fresh grilled ingredients. No "hold the onion, hold the lettuce" here. The bacon is thick and crunchy, plently of all the fixin's--no skimping...there will be yummy onions and peppers to enjoy after you have finished your burger...you'll be too full, but you'll still want to grab at least a little piece of mushroom or bacon crumb...it's that good. Oh yeah and did I mention this burger is HUGE? almost fits an entire styrafoam container and the small fry, is not small at all. I have heard of Burger Island for years but have never tried any of the locations until recently. I tried this one on a recommendation from a friend of my wife. We had a little trouble finding the place since it had gotten dark and their outside sign was not yet turned on. Since we were looking specifically for this joint it was a minor inconvenience. However, under other circumstances, we would probably just gone somewhere else. My overall impression of the place was that it is a bit divey. That's not a criticism, just an observation. It has obviously been there a while and that speaks to the quality of their product. My wife had the burger with guacamole. She can't remember the name. I had the bacon cheeseburger. We both enjoyed the burgers. One thing I like about a griddle fried burger is the crust. Mine had a good crust. Also plenty of bacon. We ordered the large fries which were pretty good. A bit greasy for my taste but it didn't stop us from eating almost all of them. Spoiler alert -- the large order of fries is humongous. A real diet buster. But, obviously hand cut with skin on. A real plus. Since this place is quite out of the way our visits will be random. But, if I'm in the neighborhood, and hankering for a burger, this place will get the nod. read more
