    Bacon burger with fries

The bacon burger was delicious and the rest of my family really enjoyed the onion-rings

I ordered a couple of 6 oz cheeseburgers, a bulgogi burger, and onion rings. Great cheeseburgers! The meat on the bulgogi burger was a bit tougher than I expected, but otherwise no complaints. Great onion rings!

Being a lifelong burger fiend, I decided it was time for one more burger in my time on this spinning rock in space. So I search up "Burgers near me" into Google and after wading through McDonald's after McDonald's, Burger King after Burger King, and more, Burger Tex was the first non-national joint that popped up. And when I tell you - my vision tunneled and I was transported back to my childhood, Anton Ego style, I unearthed the memory of my Dad taking me here on hot sunny days when I was a kid. I always called it "The Stinky Place" because I believe one time the AC was out and the whole restaurant was stiflingly hot and the grease smoke hung in the air. And like my days of yore, I didn't hesitate walking back in after all this time. The place is so very Texas. No frills, just cozy, with a ton of locals hanging out and noshing some deliciousness together, even at 2 in the afternoon. I bellied up to the register and asked for a double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink, which came out to $12.81. I got some Mountain Dew (PEPSI products at the fountain here), and checked out the fixins bar, which I haven't seen one filled since before the pandemic. They've got jalapeños, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, condiments, and a big vat of cheese to pour on your fries! The food came out quick by the same sweet lady who took my order. I ended up with a single patty even though I wanted double, but it ended up being plenty! The fries were good, and seasoned with a little extra somethin' somethin'. They could be fried a little harder, to be a little crispier, but I won't complain because a crinkle is a win in my book. The burger was good! The bun was soft, the patty was ample and cooked so it achieved a bit of a sear on the outside. Turns out, double cheese is a great route to take on this one! Overall, a solid place, and I can't wait to bring my people here so we can have a low-key, Texas lunch or dinner.

Very kind people working here. They appreciate our business in a wholesome way, we arrived 10mins before closing and I didn't feel at all like I was intruding. Friendly greeting, hot&fresh food. Ambiance was more of a divey style place which looks ages old but quality superb. Will definitely come back again for the different style burgers to try again and again.

Me and a coworker carpool a lot and drive by this place everyday. We had always talked about stopping but today was the first time we weren't both rushing home. First off, service is great!!! The staff is so friendly and kind. I had the bacon cheeseburger combo with fries. It was exceptional. The fries with seasoned and crunchy. The burger was so moist and juicy! Bun was great, bacon was great, and the meat was great. Absolutely will be back!

Eat, Drink, HTX…read more Made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner for three. The restaurant is so cute and cozy with tables and booths. Lots of TVs to watch the Olympic Games while you wait for dinner. I liked watching the open pizza oven. They make a lot of pizzas here. The Eat, Drink, HTX menus are a great way to try new restaurants while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. A starter, an entree and a dessert. $25 for dinner. So many choices on this menu. A great deal while helping out those in need. "Started" with the Turkey Samosas. Four crispy pastries that are filled with seasoned ground turkey, potatoes and parsley served with cucumber yogurt. Delicious! The Ember & Greens Soup that my family had was hot, hot, hot and so tasty. The fresh soup was filled with a blend of spinach, parsley, and cilantro with chickpeas, caramelized onions, pinto beans and quinoa. My FIL polished off his bowl! For dinner, we all had the Blackened Salmon. The salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa served on roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes and a bed of quinoa. It was a full plate, which we all took home for dinner the next day. Note: it is quite buttery. My FIL had his butter and avocado salsa on the side which worked for him. I loved mine as is. Even though we were pretty full, we still enjoyed dessert. The tiramisu was so indulgent. Loved the layered mascarpone custard, whipped cream, coffee liqueur and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. My FLI had the Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries. What a great meal. We had a slight hiccup where the appetizers came slightly after the main meal was served, but they were so honest about what happened that I still have to give them five stars for their food and their service. Would try them again for their generous, delicious meals. Lots of parking. Water glasses were frequently filled both with and without meals. Thank you for a really nice Sunday night dinner with family.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

If you don't have very many locations aren't exactly established yet in the city you're trying to plant in, and a patron comes in and says it's their first time, some recommendations and signature dish items would be nice to hear. There were a lot of staff on this Sunday afternoon, but didn't really see there was much effort into the overall experience. The food station was dirty and messy, there were gnats flying around our food where we were sitting, and when we got our zeppelins, it was drenched or drowning in the dressing and th overall sandwich was overly salty because of it. I ordered the Mediterranean Cobb and held off on the blue cheese and subbed feta. The grilled chicken literally was so chewy and tasted like rubber I had to spit it out and then pick the rest of the chicken out, this place is NOT cheap. Quite pricey for a large sub stuffed with a salad. If you're paying $15 for a sandwich, you expect to get quality ingredients. The chicken was not edible. Staff just stood around and would chit chat, not really attentive or maintaining the restaurant very well. I'm willing to give it another shot maybe and try their salad...but I'd heed on the dressing and ask for it on the side.

It immediately sets the expectation for food that is intentional and well executed. The deluxe hummus was excellent. Exceptionally smooth, properly seasoned, and elevated by the meat topping without losing balance. The base stays creamy and focused, which is exactly how good hummus should be. The mushroom and meat dish was a standout. Rich, savory, and cohesive, with a comforting depth that reminded me of a well made beef stroganoff but cleaner and more composed. The Signature Kebab Royale delivered across the board. The kofta was tender and well seasoned, and the tomato sauce tasted built rather than rushed. Bold without being heavy. Fresh pita tied everything together. Soft, airy, warm, and clearly made with care. Nothing here feels overworked or trend driven. Just confident cooking, solid execution, and a menu that rewards people who actually pay attention to what they are eating. Easy five stars.

So I wasn't in the mood to wait more. Server was a girl and she had black hair and she took forever to greet us which was annoying. And she was just slower overall like I had to ask for bread, bc I thought I had to order it or something, she was just not very welcoming and informative overall. Very bare minimum but hey whatever maybe she was off that day. I'll come again at an earlier time and see if it's a different experience. But it was okay overall, it could have been better with service so hopefully they do that bc there is multiple reviews about service complaints. But I was excited for the knafeh bc I love that dessert and no it was just not good. It wasn't crunchy I don't even think they used phyllo dough idk not the best would never order again was disappointed. But anywho this place could be better if they fixed these issues.
