The place was empty. Clean, nice music. The drink machine was down so I got a canned soda. Tried the macadamia nut cookies--hard as a rock. I ordered the chicken sandwich meal, minus tomatoes & avocados. My husband ordered the extra, extra large cheese burger meal. It was massive. I tasted a piece of the meat...yuck. Total was $47. Way too overpriced to be bland & soggy. The burger was covered in thousand island dressing. Smh. The handful of fries didn't have seasoning. My chicken sandwich had absolutely way too many pickles & the bottom bun was EXTREMELY soggy. I couldn't even grip the sandwich. I tore a small piece of the chicken off--very dry, overcooked & no seasoning at all. I had my husband go back & get a refund. I would've had them just remake it with the condiments on the side but there wasn't any seasoning on the meat. My honest review: season the food/fries! Put the pickles on the side to avoid the bun getting soggy! This was my first experience and I'm not impressed at all. This is a burger joint with simple but tasteful interior. You place your order up front and the staff will bring it to you when it's ready. The burgers are huge, juicy and delicious. It's mostly standard fare - not many creative options - though they do have a double-patty burger called the 'Crazy Burger'. A burger with the combo easily hits US$15+. Im glad this place doesn't... On my recent visit [01/05/24], I was reminded why I highly recommend this place. The location isn't important as it's easy to miss if you're not actively looking for it. The service was decent, just as I expected, but let's focus on the food. I always order the "AVOCADO BURGER" whenever I visit, but this time I decided to try the FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH while my friend went for the DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER. In the interest of reviewing both, we split the sandwiches. I let my friend take the first bite so I could see her reaction, and she was so impressed that she couldn't help but dance in her seat. The standout feature of this restaurant is that they actually season their meat, which may seem obvious, but it sets them apart from the rest. The chicken sandwich was also delicious, but I felt there was not enough chicken compared to the amount of fried skin. Despite that, I will be back again and again as I work nearby. I just wish there were more locations in the northern part of Houston. Im also glad that management improved the scent of JLB, now I can 100% recommend it. After years of eating at JLB, I've felt the inflation in their menu, especially since Covid. . Also I've noticed that some branches are called joy love burgers while others are called JLB eatery like this one. Im not sure what the difference is. Sadly, I've stopped going to JLB eatery as it's become too expensive. Last trip which has been a while, we ordered the Buffalo ranch chicken sandwich meal and a fried fish meal and a chicken strip meal. Ladies and Gents this Burger place was the gold star for the week!!! Most important part was the option for patio seating which allowed a great social distance vibe. The Bun was made from a very tasteful buttery bread, which they bake in-house. The meat was made from 100% Angus Beef and it is evenly seasoned. The staff provided a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere which made the experience even better. My fiancé had the curly fries which were fresh and crispy....that was so important because in the past many burger joints give soggy fries that aren't seasoned well. I had the Onion rings, which I will say had a more sweet flavored batter and I normally would prefer the batter to encompass a more garlic pepper taste; however, the combination of the sweet taste and the flavors from the burger brought the taste together. We'd eaten at a different location of JLB, but decided to try this one out on a Friday night. This location, on the corner of Jones and 1960, is not the most accessible, and the space itself is pretty tight (our table for 4 was definitely a table for 2 with 4 chairs). The food, however, again redeems JLB. The menu carries all kinds of things, but we focus on the burgers. Two different Angus burgers were well-received -- nice structure with a good, solid bun, salad stuff on the bottom, meat nicely done. Definitely one of the better burgers in the area. Fries and sweet potato fries, while not particularly unique, always come hot and fresh. Our sweet potato fries were actually a little under-seasoned, but that is easily remedied. Staff was friendly and helpful. Burgers here aren't cheap (you're not paying for atmosphere), but they're a fair value, given the size (you can easily split one) and quality. read more

I had the worst experience at the JLB Eatery on Jones Rd. & 1960!!! My husband and I always order multiple items to support this location and this time was no different, we ordered the cheeseburger combo, shrimp combo, chicken tenders, and a 10 piece Cajun wings. But my Cajun wings were not the same quality as before. Although they were fried very hard one of them had blood still bubbling up out of it and another was so dark and burnt it was not edible.
