This was the first time (weird, I know!) I have ever eaten at a Burgerville so this is a Virgin Burgerville Review. This is the bustling Burgerville in Newberg, Oregon in the heart of Oregon's Pinot Noir country. We were rushed so at here rather than one for a quick meal. The people working here were quite friendly and didn't get annoyed while we stared at the menu like idiots trying to figure out which burger to order. My wife had the Tillamook Cheeseburger and Walla Walla Onion Rings. I had the standard burger fries. They bring the food to your table when it is ready. The Tillamook Cheeseburger was done very well and I will post a picture of it. The onion rings were great. Enormous actually. Unfortunately, the hamburger was similar in look to a McDonalds... enough said. Still, the beef was tasted good. The hamburger patties tasted fresh grilled, not the weird fake-grill taste of Burger King, but really grilled. For a quick burger, I would choose Burgerville over the other standards. (The Fire Chief was eating here in his full regalia having a very serious conversation so I am assuming you can also have unnoticed spy conversations without any locals noticing). As Dr. Suess might say, "There was no joy in Burgerville." I've been to other Burgerville locations, and generally been pleased. Recently, I attempted to order online as I didn't want to wait in a long drive through line if I didn't need to. This is where the first of the issues come in. I tried logging into my account and my credentials were rejected. I noticed that I could "Log in with Google", so I tried that, but it failed due to a problem on the server side. So I had to go through the process of creating a new login and password just to try and place my order. (This problem has since been resolved.) Next, I put in my order, but they make any customization difficult. They do not provide a list of toppings to select from. Rather you must put any additional toppings in the 'special request' text field. This leave you not really knowing for sure what options you have. But it would be manageable if not for the fact the file truncates whatever the text to something incredibly short. Maybe as long as 50 characters, but no more. The exception to this is the toppings that are put on by default. Those are given to you as check boxes that say 'No spread' and 'No Ketchup'. I never was able to place an online order for this reason, but I did not give up. I simply sat in line at the drive through and place my order in the "traditional" way, with words from my mouth. I got my food and ate the my burger (double cheese) immediately only to discovered my reward for this effort was a burger that would have happily exchanges for one from a convenience store. The burger patties were barely warm, dry and overdone (and I that is saying something because I am fine with a well done burger). The cheese was practically ice cold. The but was borderline stale; not yet crunchy, but far more firm and dry than one would normally expect. Ultimately it was edible, but also almost $4. The equivalent burger at McDonald's is half that price and actually better quality that what I received at Burgerville. read more

The slow drive thru was no issue... but When I pay almost $10 for a double cheeseburger value meal, the burger looks like it came off the McDonald's dollar menu it was so small. I asked for waffle fries, for which I got half a bag of waffle fries (on top) With the rest of the bag having regular fries in the bottom to take up the space. Bland burger with very little flavor. I always try and support local restaurants when I am traveling, tonight I wish I had just eaten at McDonald's. read more

We live in Newberg and used to visit this location often. We won't be going back for a while. My husband and I grabbed takeout tonight and sat down to enjoy our meal when we got home. Halfway through the burger he noticed he crunched into something and the burger texture was off- come to find the burger was completely soiled with...well, soil. Somebody didn't wash the lettuce on the burger at all, and left him to eat dirt. Immediately spit out his bite and we're going to give this location a long break. Burgerville makes a breakfast burrito? Well I'll be. It's not half bad either... well, at least in the abstract. It doesn't hold a candle to one you'll score in the Southwest US, but for a quick morning fix, it'll do. And I'll pay extra to know that my food is locally and sustainably sourced, which makes it happier and healthier than factory farmed crap pumped up with antibiotics, hormones and the like - which is what most fast food is made from. I love that the Burgerville option exists when I need it, and allows me to eat some somewhat guilt-free fast food every now and then. read more

I've reviewed other Burgervilles, but I think this may be my favorite -- so it's time to talk Burgerville AGAIN!! It's big and roomy inside, here -- so that even when their parking lot is full, there's still no cramped and crowded feeling inside when you eat. The restroom is clean. The menu and ordering is easy. The fresh iced tea is always crisp and just strong enough. The food is spot-on yummy. The counter crew is friendly and exceptionally helpful --at least every time we've been in. Even during the packed lunch rush -- the young man who took our order on our most recent visit -- went out of his way to help correct a mistake that was made when the order came to the table. As for the food -- we love the local seasonal veggie and fruit additions to the menu. We brought a friend from out-of-state here on the way home from the airport and she made a meal of their Walla-Walla onion rings. The asparagus fries and the strawberry treats are great in the spring -- the blackberry treats are just as good in the late summer. The beef lives up to its reputation in the foodie-est way, and the halibut used in their baskets and fish sandwiches reminds me that I'm just over the river and through the woods from the Pacific Ocean. First time here, just moved from Arizona, and I already found my new burger joint. The raspberry lemonade is awesome, not too sweet but not too watered down. The burgers are amazing, their entire food is amazing, so FREAH! And the real winning attribute... the customer service, I couldn't not find a more polite Gentlemen than Calvin. The service industry, as the name indicates, is measured on their customer service and Calvin is the perfect employee that every establishment should want working for them... keep up the good work young man, we'll see you again soon (lol!). For years now I've waited patiently for October to arrive so I could get my pumpkin shake. I missed last year but was so happy I could enjoy one this year. The pumpkin shake I got was not the same as the ones I've enjoyed over the years. It didn't taste anything like pumpkin. I discovered it was a syrup like they put in coffee. Really!!!! I see that there are mixed reviews about Burgerville, but i have yet to be disappointed by them. I just moved back to Oregon after living out of state for 7 years and Burgerville was often on the list of things to do whenever i came back into town to visit family. Now that I'm back for good, i look forward to stopping in more frequently. My 5 star rating comes from comparing it to other fast food and like establishments. Recommendations: Walla walla onion rings (some of the best onion rings I've had); seasonal shakes; Tillamook bacon cheese burger; the house sauce Things to Note: Burgerville is fast food, but 'higher end'. They try to use more fresh and local ingredients. They are a bit more spendy than other fast food, but the quality is higher as well. It has been said to be like an In n Out of the PNW. read more

This is quite possibly one of your best options for fast-food, of course, it is still fast-food. I tried their Yukon & White Bean Basil Burger and oh was it good. As a vegetarian, it is so nice to have not only a fast food option, but something other than a garden or boca burger available. The service was OK in that they some how messed up the order in which orders were made, as there was a large table of dinners who came a good 10 - 15 minutes after us and they all got their food first, even though they had several separate orders. We don't eat burgers, but someone in a FB suggested that we "MUST" try the Walla Walla onion rings since they're seasonal (I've never seen such huge onion rings in my life, and so thickly sliced!) So one day while passing through, we stopped in and hey...might as well also try the seasonal Marionberry shake we keep hearing about. BUT...my daughter has a bad reaction to red dyes in things and I wanted to check first whether or not it had it. This lady at the counter, I think on the management staff (she had a spider tattoo) went above and beyond, instead of just saying 'oh, I really don't know' or 'you can try something else,' she offered to go get the tub of base from the back and let me see the ingredient list. I have been stopping here for the sweet potato fries for the past few months. Always ordering the large size. The consistency on what large is differs quite dramatically. The other evening my husband and I ordered at the drive-thru. This is the first time my sweet potato fries were in a paper boat. That was nice. They did not get soggy like they did in the baggie I would get them in previously. My husband ordered a double burger, added three strips of bacon and a side of fries. I ordered the crispy chicken club sandwich. Of course I ate most of my fries before we got home. Settling down to eat our sandwiches I was ready to enjoy the meal. First of all my husband said his was good but very salty. Now for my crispy chicken club. It was very dark, ok,very burnt, over fried. Saltyas all get out. I could of possible ate it do to the saltiness but the crust was just not edible due to the over flying. It was so over done that when I tried to take off the crust I could not because the chicken was over cooked and it all stuck together. My cousin here in Honolulu told me about this place. I want to just get a good burger, but she told me that when I'm there to make sure I get the Walla Walla onion rings. So I went. And... Those walla walla onion rings are unbelievable! The burgers are good but I had instead the halibut and fries with a side order of the walla walla onion rings. Ono! That means delicious in Hawaiian. My halibut was fresh tasting and nothing like Tate mushy cod I normally am served at restaurants. And the service at this joint is so pleasant. Place is kept clean and we had a wonderful meal for a reasonable price. Finally, if you get a burger, I suggest the Walla Walla onion burger with bacon... Pepper bacon. However, it is a bit expensive just for a burger, but you can feel good about yourself because you're kind of being "green." Typically I get a kid's meal because it's the right amount of food for me and cheaper. (Go through the drive through...you could be ordering for a child...who's at home...) I will say that their shakes are delicious though. Top choice in town for those. This is how I tend to think of it: If I'm getting fast food, at least it's sourced locally, the taste is fine, and if I'm not there much I can spend a little extra. read more

Been back twice since my last Review, I think I'm officially done. Their drivethru is super slow which is dumb, but my 1 Star now reflects food quality and quantity for the price. Food is barely warm once you receive it, and the prices are now ridiculous for what you get costing more than other actual restaurants. Burgerville is pretty good. I am a huge fan of In and Out and think it's still better than this place, but I did enjoy my food here anyway. I got the Walla Walla Sweet Onion burger. I personally really like it. The sauce is a tiny bit overpowering, but the flavor is really good so I don't mind. The fries this time were actually seasoned!( the last time I went to Burgerville they weren't seasoned at all). Although I do think the fries here average. They aren't anything special. I also got the Marionberry shake. This shake is SO good! The berries aren't sweet. They're tart like they should be, which is perfect balance with the sweet vanilla ice cream. Hated this place. I don't know what happened to burgerville. But....you pull in wait FOREVER long enough i shut the car off. Then you see that you can order the burger by itself for like 7 dollars. You cannot get this burger in a meal. You then order the fries and drink separately for like 4 dollars each. Then when your irritated and don't say anything they give you this smartass attitude. Heading through town on a trip back to Seattle, we needed a place to stop for a quick bite, and Burgerville fit the bill because it also has outdoor seating & we didn't want to leave our dog in the car. It's nice that there are non-traditional fast food options like the smoked salmon & hazelnut salad, adzuki bean burger, turkey burger, etc that you won't find at national chains, and the quality at Burgerville is better as they use Tillamook cheese, halibut (instead of the cheaper cod), and fresh seasonal ingredients. However, we got a fresh strawberry shake and it was..meh. Basically it was a vanilla shake with larger chunks of fresh strawberries on the bottom, which makes it impossible to drink through a straw. Good, fresh, locally grown ingredients! I tried the pepper bacon burger (after a long debate whether to get that or the Anasazi bean veggie burger). The Yukon gold potato fries were delicious (and in season!). This fast-food restaurant has a menu that changes with the season, depending on what is in season and locally grown. The late summer is supposed to be the best time (think strawberry and blackberry milkshakes) or else the early summer for fresh onion rings. This place rivals the In-N-Out chain in CA. I like the philosophy of keeping everything sustainable and eco-friendly. The menu offers breakfast items and even fish & chips. Pretty nice selection of stuff overall. read more

Anyone that says how good their burgers are clearly hasn't had a good burger. The burger we ordered had no flavor and cost almost $7. We ordered the rosemary fries and they were cold and half the tray size. Total we ordered the burger fries and drink plus fish and chips with fries and drink and a turkey burger it all came to $33. The breading on the fish was over cooked and had no flavor. The best though was the kid at the counter was talking about how he went to dairy Queen honestly I wish we had. Yum Yum Yum! Burgerville is the only fast food I will eat and I love this Newberg location! Burgerville always tries to use as natural and sustainable ingredients that they can. Locally raised meats, fresh veggies, and seasonal specials. I also love how involved they are in the community and how friendly the service is. Please don't complain about the price. This is the actual price for food that has not been made from factory farmed animals and GMO tasteless veggies. You pay for quality and convenience.
