Burgess Park is a lovely and lively neighborhood park tucked in the neighborhood. It does get busy at times, but that's part of the charm. There's so much going on, a soccer field, a skate park, a duck pond, tennis course, swimming pool, and plenty of small paths for walking. There's also a library on-site that I haven't checked out yet. With all the space and variety, it's a great place to spend time outdoors. Also a bonus is when the ducks have small babies running around, they are the cutest to watch as the little ducklings bring a smile to my face. There's plenty of parking, and with a police station nearby, it feels like a fairly safe park even in the evenings. My husband and I used to walk here all the time, and it's a great place to enjoy the outdoors. read more

This huge park is kinda like a sports complex!! They have a swimming pool, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, a skate park, a recreational center, a library, and a kids play area! There is also a little pond near the main parking lot, if you want to catch some shade on a hot day and watch the ducks. They do a good job maintaining this park, and it seems to be a place that people go to often here in Menlo Park!! read more

The first thing you notice about Burgess Park is how big the fields are. They are plenty of eating areas and benches. Also in the park is a Rec center, Library, Police station, Gym, and Pool. Burgess Park is a beautiful, massive park in Menlo Park with an impressive set of all different kinds of athletic facilities - it has everything!!! It's a huge recreation area for baseball, basketball, soccer, frisbee, swimming, skateboarding, tennis - you name it! I sought to take as many pictures as I could to capture everything - the park is absolutely enormous. All the fields, parks, courts, pools, etc. are so well maintained and well run. So many people were hanging out all over the park on the basketball court, the skateboard park, the pool, or eating at tables with friends, family, or by themselves, just having a good time. The flowers and plant life in general around the park were also colorful and gorgeous. I would definitely recommend spending quality time in the park - it is a special place, and you will always be able to find activities there that you will enjoy and keep you engaged and happy!!! read more

Burgess Park is great! I walk through it several times a day, and I am always amazed at all the activity. There is: - a Little League field, - a separate softball field, - a soccer field, - other grass area, - a kids playground, - picnic tables, - barbecues, - a gymnastics facility, - three pools, - tennis courts, - a brand new gym (for basketball, badminton, exercise classes, & more), - a newly renovated recreation center with conference and exercise rooms, and - a new building on the way with conference rooms, aerobic studios and a state of the art gymnastics facility. The library is less than a two minute walk from the park, and the train station is only another two minutes away. This is a great place! read more

We went here today with the kids because it was 1000 degrees! They have an awesome toddler pool with a sprinkler thing in it. The pool was clean and the water looked clear so at least I could convince myself that I was not dipping my feet in cloudy pee. The drop in fee was $7 and $5 for kids. Burgess Park offers a great selection of everything you want to find at your local park. There is a baseball field, soccer field, tennis courts (you can buy a key at the sports center), a playground for kids and even a skate park. The park is generally clean and they have plenty of water fountains and public bathrooms. I love that people of all ages use this park and there always seems to be family activities going on during the weekends. There is a great spot near the baseball field with bbq pits. I've even seen many families set up bounce houses for their kids parties. I mostly come to jog or use the tennis courts. Right next to the park is a gym, library, pool/aquatics center and gymnastics center. read more

Wow, they have really done a number on this park! And I mean that in a good way. I've lived in MP for almost ten years, and when I first moved here (just around the corner, actually), this park looked terrible! It used to just be the library, police station and community center/pool surrounded by scrubby dirt fields and unkempt landscaping. Now, it is a veritable neighborhood gem, with a skate park, beautifully landscaped soccer fields, baseball fields, pool and little kids' playground. There are several picnic areas that are available to reserve, as well as well-kept bathrooms. Glad to see my taxpayer dollars at work. Good job, Menlo Park! read more

The park seems nice, but my review is mainly for the incompetent staff that work there. I came to play tennis with a friend and it was our first time so we didn't know we needed a key. I called the number on the sign and the lady said we could pick up a key from the gym office. I asked her where the office was and she just said to walk down Alma. Not very helpful. I get to the office and see an older man sitting in the office, but no woman. He sees me standing there and asks if I need help. I told him I wanted the key to the tennis court and he said they don't have any. I told him I just spoke with a lady 2 minutes ago and he bafflingly asked me if I wanted to use the pool. I think he was partially deaf because this Abbott and Costello routine lasted a few minutes before the receptionist came out from the bathroom. I told her I wanted a key and I had just talked to someone (she hesitated to say it was her). She said she never checked and now realizes there are no keys. I asked if there was another way to get in or to get a key and she said maybe the pool guy will have one (what is the obsession with the pool??). Frustrated, I asked if there are other public courts around and the lady stared blankly at me while the guy kept spewing gibberish. Finally, he said maybe someone will be at the courts on Middle and I left completely annoyed. Basically, if you need any help here, don't expect it from the buffoons who are supposed to be managing the park. Both of them were complete idiots. read more

I've been going to a few parks in the Bay lately and this is one of my favorites (especially for old guys like me). Gates are already open at 7am so easy to hit before work. Layout is pretty efficient with some nice long ledges and transitions and slanted ledges that won't kill you. The transition boxes require some work to get speed but the bowl setup is really nice and you can go from low difficulty to higher in a nice route and put together a fun run. read more

A very pleasant surprise for us. The pond was a big hit for my little guy. I thought he would be afraid of the ducks but they were not aggressive and kept their distance. I only wish they had benches around for people to enjoy. Lots of activities for one place! We'll be back for a picnic and more. *clapping hands* read more

The large trees shelter adults and kids alike from the summer heat. I have had to most pleasant naps here, stretched out on one of the benches while my wife pushes my kid on the swings. Five stars ... more comfortable than my bed. read more

Burgess Park is incredibly well equipped and very convenient to our house. We go here nearly every day and are happy to have such a wonderful public resource near us. There is everything from a playground, 3 pools, soccer fields, baseball fields, a gymnastics area (now under construction), basketball courts, a skate park, the library, a duck pond, picnicing areas and a community center with classes like yoga classes and rooms for children's birthday parties. I'm surprised to not see more reviews. In the spring the park is quite pretty and is filled with large cherry trees. It also feels very safe and is a well utilized, though not over utilized resource. read more
