So I needed a new vinyl top on my car so I called and the guy who answered the phone was pretty rude but I scheduled a time for me to get a estimate. I come by and get the estimate done. They say the vinyl will take 2 weeks to come in but he will stay in touch with me and let me know whats going on Not one time did they call me to update me. I had to call a few times to get an update. 2 weeks goes by and I call and the same crotchety rude man answers the phone and says they will call me back in 5 minutes with an update. Never got a call back or any update. Needless to say it was a waste of time and I could have had this done already if I followed my initial feeling I got from talking to them read more

I heard what a good job Darien had done for a friend who needed new cushions for some chairs. I needed to revamp two old love seats that had survived almost 18 years, including 17 years of two cats and a dog. I wanted a completely different look. Darien was so kind and patient with this old lady explaining how he would make it work. And he did not ask for any down payment even for ordering the fabric. He did not accept payment until the couches were ready for delivery ...and he delivered them nearly two weeks earlier than anticipated! Always cheerful, always pleasant even when he was clearly so busy with his work...he never acted like he was being interrupted! He provided good guidance on fabrics and who had great pricing within the companies with whom he deals, and also wanted to make sure that I would be sure to have a warranty with him. His work was worth every penny....I wanted these same couches because of the small footprint and their fit to my short body. These couches came alive again and don't even look like the same couches because we discussed going more classic upon seeing my little living room. Shout out to Burien Upholstery! Great Work!! Sure do know their business and products!! I had 4 bar stools for which I had paid a pretty penny a few years back but the upholstery was really falling apart. I was really torn as to whether I should just buy new chairs or get the ones I had recovered?? The chairs fit my space nicely and had even been custom cut for height but sometimes you just felt like you were sliding out of them. A friend recommended Burien Upholstery and I had the opportunity to see the fantastic the work they had done for her. Took me a couple of trips to the shop to find the fabric I liked. They were never pushy but answered all of my questions. We discussed my concerns with the stools and gave me some suggestions on how the chairs could be rebuilt/built-up. Finally I picked my fabric. They warned me that getting the fabric could take several weeks. In a couple of days I got a firm bid for the fabric, rebuilding/contouring, recovering the chairs and replacing the swivel mechanism as 2 of the screws had sheared off (I didn't even know that - someone could have fallen off the chair if it had actually failed) . Called to confirm I still wanted the work to be done. Well it did take about 4 weeks but once the fabric arrived the work was completed in less than a week. I'm very happy with how the chairs look and sitting in them is much more comfortable not to mention safer. The work was not inexpensive but at least now I know the quality of the fabric and construction of the seat. I know these chairs will serve me well for a very long time. About 10 years ago I used them for new canvas over my 17 foot Bayliner (a small project); and more recently, with the purchase of my Tollycraft, they worked on my canvas in a couple different areas, and replacement of the (strataglass) windows (definitely a larger project). They have always been timely in their estimates, as well as their installations; they are professional, courteous, and competitively priced. They took the time to educate me on the different products available, came out and did the estimate exactly when they said they would (perfectly on time, very impressive), and they stand behind their products and installation. Not sure how I feel about using Burien Upholstery... I love supporting local businesses and would be happy to have my work done close to home. After tonight I'm a little skeptical on the work I would receive. I stopped to grab a beverage after work and saw an individual wearing a Burien Upholstery shirt... I was excited because maybe I found something local.. I asked him if he worked there and he first joked "no, I don't." - which I thought was funny.. but then after others saying he did I asked if he had a business card and said I was looking for two chairs to get recovered... he then pointed his fingers in a direction and said "it's over there" - I wasn't looking to "talk shop" but was excited to find someone local to have my upholstery needs met. Not sure if I will look into them helping me out with my future needs. Just a thought... if you are out in a shirt with a company logo... maybe you should represent the company respectfully! Extremely rude, sarcastic worker, ? Owner? Upon arriving I stated that i was here to pick up a footboard that was reupholstered. He barked at me saying we're closed, yet it was 4 hrs until closing time. Other customers were present. Then he continued with an angry sarcastic voice trting to determine which item was mine. Then he takes my credit card and starts to ring up the charge then sees the workers outside with my item and yells why is your car locked? Unlock it! I said I will wait until I have my card back and pay because i needed to arrange my SUV so the item would fit. Rude. read more

There are very few places I will take my Jeep. When my driver's seat developed a rip I was beside myself. I have passed this business a few times while driving through Burien and I've also seen their delivery vans around. I figured, why not. I'll stop. Service was quick and friendly. The guys knew what they were talking about and even took the time to get the correct match to my seat fabric (it was discontinued and of course difficult to find). Within a few days they called me to let me know they had the material to complete the job and it was done within the same day! I was very impressed. I had a partially loosened headliner in an otherwise "mint" car. The owner of Burien Upholstery suggested that he re-glue the loosened headliner portion as the only option as new material for the entire headliner was not available. I delivered my car at the appointed time, but the clerk on duty could not find the reservation - mumbling I didn't have a reservation. Gruffly finally found me on the calender, saying he'd "try to fit this surprise job in". I returned for pickup later that day (4:15). That same unhappy gruff skinhead barked out the cost and searched for the misplaced keys. He assured me that the car was "done", and he was anxious to close up and go home. I later examined the work and discovered that the upholstery material on both "B" posts was loose and exposed to traffic damage. Further, the driver's seat belt retractor no longer functioned. Unbelievably sloppy work on a first class car for a first class fee. No! I did not request corrective action, and neither would you - from this angry and negative clerk. It was apparent that neither he, nor the tech who worked on my car gave one thought to quality work of civilized attitude. I finished the job myself, and although I have several other upholstery jobs to do, I will go elsewhere. I had worked for years with Pat, the previous owner, and always received wonderful results and treatment. This new owner is a polar opposite. Never again! P.S. This review is not about their upholstery quality because I did not get a chance to experience their work. This review is strictly about the customer service I received. I took in a chair to get a quote for re-upholstering. They asked to keep the chair so they could look at it and told me they would call with a quote. Two weeks later, still not having heard from them, I stopped by to check on it. They didn't remember that they even had it. I told them I wanted to take my chair back and he just hauled it to my vehicle and walked away. No explanation, no apologies for not getting in touch with me, nothing. I own a local chiropractic office and was interested in updating some of my equipment. I had considered buying new, but after seeing 1) the cost involved and 2) the very good structural condition of the equipment I had, I thought it would be better to have my current set refreshed. My equipment has ready made "slip covers" and replacement cushions available, but again, cost comes into play as well as installation. We came across Burien Upholstery and asked for an in-house estimate. I decided to go with their services and planned to have 3 sets (3 pelvic benches and 3 cervical chairs) done while I was away on vacation for the week. It gave them ample time to do the work and something for me to look forward to see after my vacation. When I came back to the office and saw the work that had been completed, I could not have been happier. I was admittedly slightly curious just how close the work would have compared to the original coverings from the factory. What I saw was 3 complete sets that looked as if they came directly from the factory brand new. Wow. That was about all I could say. They look amazing and I was happy to have chosen Burien Upholstery. Not only would I use them again, but I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to have work done. read more

These guys were AMAZING!! I needed my sofa and chair cushions replaced. After searching all over Seattle and being told by other places it would be weeks and quoted overpriced I found them. My cushions were a special order and somewhat spendy (still less than the competition) but well worth it! He ordered the foam replacement on thursday I dropped off my cushions on friday morning and by friday after work they were ready good as NEW! I suggest to anyone who wants to replace their cushions go here!! read more

I brought in two chair cushions and a gliding ottoman to be upholstered. When I came in I was advised it would probably take 7-10 days for the fabric to come in, then a week to do the job, and I said ok to this. When I came home I realized this would probably put the finish time to after I moved, so I called back to see if I could cancel the order. I was told in a rude tone that the fabric was already ordered, so I was on the hook for that. The person on the phone told me that the fabric would probably take 5 days, not 7-10, and they *may* be able to fit the work in earlier, but they'd have to put me ahead of someone else. I just asked that he call when the fabric was in and we could take it from there. I hadn't hear from anyone after a couple of weeks so I called to check on the status. I asked what information he needed from me, to which he replied "anything." I told him my last name and what job I had done. He told me it had been completed. That's right. They finished the job and never bothered to call. The quality of work was fine, but the business is unprofessional. I'd go elsewhere. read more

I went to Burien Upholstery because I had the upholstery on my center console in my car starting to peel back a bit. It was driving me nuts that it was loose because I noticed it everytime I opened or leaned on the console. Just one of those things that you think, "I should get that fixed this week before it gets worse." I found Burien Upholstery and decided to go in to see if it could be a quick fix. I arrived about 15 minutes before closing.... (sorry... I know that is so annoying). Everyone in the shop was wrapping up work for the day. Two guys stopped what they were doing and came out to look at the issue right away. They opened the console, pulled it apart- took it into the workshop --- and had it looking like new in 5 minutes. I was so impressed! I went in to pay and they said "No charge.. it was an easy fix, and we are happy to help" I was floored. It is little things like that that make me realize that superb customer service is still out there. They definitely took a page from the Nordstrom Customer Service Handbook! I know it was a little thing, but it meant a lot to me. The console looks like new. I will be referring Burien Upholstery to my friends and family, and I am happy I found them! read more
