I have a truck with 170k miles and the drivers seat was wore a bit. The truck was in great shape and figured I would get the seat redone. I want to say they were quick and found the lumbar was broke as well. Decided to fix that and so glad I did. It was not cheap to fix both items a bit under 1000 but it is like new now. If you are looking for a bargain I would stay away. If you want a professional job that you can be proud to show to your friends then this is the place. Could not be happier as you get more than what you pay for. read more

The quality of the repair, the speed of service, and the price was remarkably good. The seat of the used pickup I just bought had 110,000 miles worth of wear on it. I was quoted $700 to repair the seat. Two yards of vinyl that matched my seat was in stock. They had an opening the next day and by that afternoon the job was done. It was spectacular quality and they charged me $600. Plus they were friendly and really nice. It looks and feels like a new seat. read more

A key tenet to a successful and profitable small, family owned business is to have excellent customer service. I had some upholstery work performed here, and the ultimate failure occurred when I pointed out a simple error on the installers part. It then descended into an insulting, uncomfortable, and overall terrible customer service experience for me. I would encourage everyone who works here to read a book called "Shut Up and Listen". I just had Durham work on my 66 Mustang. I had a bent and broken driver's seat. They gave me an estimate online which is something that's not normally offered. Way cool to start off with! The team member who worked on my car was named Gary and has 25 years of experience. Gary looked at the seat in the car and knew what was wrong and explained it to me. Then he removed the seat, brought it to the bench in the shop and at that point he brought me back to the shop and showed me exactly what was wrong, so I wouldn't have any doubts. He pulled everything apart down to the frame and once again brought me back to the bench and explained to me why the frame was bent and broken and explained step by step how he was going to fix it. Once he was done, he brought me out to the car to inspect the job and how the seat was mounted. He even greased the tracks so the seat would move smoother and replaced a missing screw that I didn't even know was missing! All this quality work and great customer service, and guess what, they came in one hour and $100 under the estimate. I've never known a business that works like that anywhere! I can't say enough good about Durham. When I run across a really good thing, like a bank, grocery store, etc, I stick with them for life. They installed a new headliner for my 21 year old car (one of the ever-ageing fleet...). All in all, a good job, reasonable price and done in a fairly timely fashion and I cannot fault their friendliness and communication. The reason I am holding off on a higher rating is the fact that when I got back home, I noticed a chunk of paint missing from the driver side door. It was not a "door ding" but obviously where the door had been opened near a shelf or similar. I have not heard back from them regarding this and can therefore assume they're less than bothered by it. It's a shame really, but had it not been for that, I'd have been more than willing to get my '69 Impala re-upholstered and more... read more

I've used these guys a couple times for some upholstery work and they installed a headliner when I had a sunroof put in a new car years ago. The initial work was acceptable. The headliner has since come loose from the roof of the car. I had saved my paperwork since the install had a 'lifetime' warranty. When I called them about getting it fixed under this 'lifetime' warranty, they informed me that the work was done too long ago for them to fix the problem under their 'lifetime' warranty. In the mean time, I've just been putting up with the problem. read more

I contacted Durham Upholstery to request information on reupholster of a massage chair - a project I realize is a "special order". I was asked to text photos and received a response so immediate that it seemed this project was one with which they were familiar. The text affirmed that the project could be done, included a quote for labor, instructions on exactly how much fabric to purchase, and suggestions for local fabric stores. I was told I could drop the chair off any time. However, when I brought the chair and the $200 worth of fabric I had just purchased from one of the recommended shops, I was told that they could not reupholster a massage chair. The exasperated response I received when I showed them the text from one of their own, Roger, led me to believe that this is not the first time a miscommunication of this nature had happened. I was told that such information cannot be given based on photos alone, yet this is exactly what was done. The store needs employee communication training and a protocol to ensure appropriate responses, including instructions to bring furniture for in-person inspection prior to confirming work to be done. The fabric, of course, cannot be returned so this is a $200 error that they have no means to correct. read more

Had my sunbed reupholstered on my boat. I emailed them a picture of it and asked if they would give me a quote based off the picture and I would not hold them to it without seeing it in person first. Judy replied right away, which was greatly appreciated. Kind of hard to haul your boat around to get quotes, so I appreciated the fact they would give me a ball park price over email. Judy got right back to me with a price and was able to get me in right away even though they were busy. Got the job done in just a few days and I can't say enough about how good of a job they did. Price came back slightly higher than quoted, but again, that was via a picture through email so I was okay with that. Great customer service and quality work, I would highly recommend them for anything you need done. read more

This is for something that didn't happen. We previously had a pop up sunroof installed in a another car. Roof was perfect for 15 years until the car was totaled. Durham did the top. We recently bought a prius c. We wanted a sunroof installed. Durham asked that we bring the car by so they could investigate the feasibility . After deliberation with experts in the field, Durham turned the job down. We were disappointed but was a testament to Durhams' pride in their work. They built me a custom boat cover that was excellent quality and perfect fit for a reasonable price. I went back a couple years later when I had damaged some snaps and ripped a few holes with sharp fishing gear, and the owner promptly repaired it all for free, even though it was decidedly questionable whether it was a warranty issue. I took my truck in to fix a leak of unknown origin, a previous company was unable to find it but Durham found it and it fixed it which was great. It ended up being the windshield and cost $423.00 to replace the gasket and windshield. The truck was beginning to have mold issues from the water and I had told them about my concern when I dropped off the truck on Monday - the inside was dried out but it still smelled. Later that week we texted and they agreed to meet me at the shop on Saturday at 11:00. I got there at 11:00, texted that I was there and they texted back saying they wouldn't be there until at least noon. I had been dropped off there to pick up the car so I was stuck in this industrial area in winter for an hour, that was pretty disappointing. Also, I saw my truck was sitting there unlocked with interior pieces not put back together, and the inside was wet again. They had clearly left the truck uncovered in the rain before repairing it. They put it back together before I drove it away, blaming various employees, but it was already much later than I'd hoped so I didn't feel like they had any respect for my time. Dan at the front desk set me up with Gary when I said I'm a perfectionist and the work was done in less than a day for less than originally quoted with better than OEM workmanship. Very unpleasant experience with Durham Upholstery (1421 S. 129nd St, SeaTac). They failed to satisfy my simple and basic requirements in making a leather cover for my bucket seat. They did not finish the job as I expected, and didn't even care that I was unhappy. All opposite of what they state on their web site. I DO NOT recommend them. read more

I called and described my chairs---and they were able to tell me exactly how much fabric I would need for the job. They came to my home to pick up the chairs and even returned them a day earlier than I expected. Their prices were GREAT and they did a top notch job.
