When my AC unit stopped working I called Burlingame Heating for repair. I was told the brand was a piece of crap, and the unit was beyond repair. This was followed up with a $4000 estimate for replacement. Never mentioning the estimate or feedback from Burlingame Heating, I called for a second estimate from a different company and the repair tech not only provided a substantially cheaper quote for replacement, but he fixed my unit. read more

We wanted to install AC in our home and were told by multiple providers that we would need to cut either a big hole in our beautiful wood floor or a big hole into the side of our house in order to install the necessary units. Doug came out within 2 days of my initial call, toured and measured and found not 1, but 2 solutions for us that did not necessitate cutting into anything. He and his team were resourceful and solutions oriented when we ran into a few more challenges with our house and the units. Within days, we had a new and fabulously working AC unit and a new furnace. The AC has been heaven sent - especially during our hot indian summer days. We couldn't be happier with this business. They were fast, professional, friendly, easy to work with, and had the lowest bid! We got the type of heater we wanted, with gentle, almost radiant heat--since many of the modern, hard-blowing kinds we've encountered in other homes irritate our eyes and skin--and BH&V was even able to leave in our old-fashioned, non-frustrating dial thermostat, as we requested. They removed our giant hulk of a heater which has probably been in our basement since 1917, recommended an electrician and a duct remover who got rid of our old asbestos ductwork at a reasonable price and put in the wiring needed for the modern heater, were flexible about scheduling, and got everything done in a timely fashion. I don't know what more we could ask for. I wish I could give more stars. We love to support good local businesspeople, and we are VERY happy customers!!! read more

Contacted Burlingame Heating about my heating system not working properly. I left a phone message. TWO WEEKS LATER, someone named Ed contacted me via text saying that he received my message and finally had some time. Reluctantly, I gave him options for when they could come by, he let me know that the only time that would work was between 9am-11am in a couple days. I'd expect this sort of "arrival time window" from Comcast, not a local business. Considering that it took Ed weeks to call me back in the first place, this was simply the icing on the cake. When a roofer/plumber/contractor/electrician says he'll come by- they tell you a specific TIME. Thrilled that they have so much business that they don't need to follow up in a timely manner with people needing their services. read more

I approach all contractor projects with Advil and antacids in hand and a feeling of dread. It's usually just too painful dealing with contractors and I postponed the HVAC work on our house for years because of this. My experience with Burlingame Heating completely changed my views. I sent BH a note via their on-line form and received a follow up 1 day later from Ed - weird. Then John, their estimator, reworked his schedule to come out as soon as possible to provide us options about our work - weirder. I had a quote in a few days and a start time a couple of days after that. Most of the other local HVAC companies I contacted never even returned my calls. Communication with BH was perfect. There was a delay for a vent part, but John sent timely, polite and informed emails telling me exactly what the status was - no chasing the contractors games here. Then he re-organized the work schedule to get things going around the delay. Amazing!! Follow up has been excellent. Any question I ask is followed up by a call or email within the same day. Are these guys really contractors??!? Was BH the cheapest? No. They are a union shop and they'll never hit your lowest bid. I respect BH for hiring union experts for their crews and I would happily pay more for the level of responsiveness and service I received instead of spending it on Advil and antacids. Definitely keep BH at the top of your list of HVAC contractors. Now if they only did carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc, etc... read more

When we bought our home, there was only a wall unit, and the fireplace was taken out during the remodeling process. So we had a great home, but a cold one, with no reliable source of heating. We called 4 different companies for estimates, and each estimator was baffled by where to put the heater in the home, due to a very low ceiling and attic, with barely enough room for all the ductwork. One suggested the garage, another suggested ripping out a perfectly good closet, and the other guy said it was impossible to install a central forced-air heating system in our home and that we should consider air handler units in each room. Each of these suggestions had serious drawbacks, and it was discouraging. We were so pleased with our final estimate--it was Burlingame Heating who determined that they could install it in the attic space. Joey and Manuel successfully completed the job and we have been enjoying the warmth ever since we moved in. We highly recommend Burlingame Heating and appreciate the work they did for us. read more

These guys are the best! Every year they come out to do a basic service, cleaning, and filter change on my heater. I have been worried about my heater going out on me since I bought my house. Our experience with Burlingame heating and ventilation was really outstanding from beginning to end. John is thoughtful, efficient, friendly, honest and gives great advice. Everyone who came to our house to install our upstairs air conditioning unit was polite, excellent at their work and just lovely to have as workers in your home. I cannot say enough what a flawless experience it was. Our heater stopped functioning while we were on vacation during Christmas. Burlingame Heating was one of the first businesses we called to try and schedule a repair. No other provider got back to us except for Burlingame Heating, which responded promptly via phone, and also followed up with text messages. I'm writing this on the hottest day of the summer, sitting in my cool home. After much consideration, I decided to put AC in my 2 story home. I have one furnace servicing both floors and John Mitchell from Burlingame H & A was upfront with the fact that this was not ideal. They did not cut any corners installing the unit and their work to make the AC as efficient as possible paid off. These guys run a professional and efficient shop. I'm a commercial foam roofer and I usually have them do my custom fabricated scuppers, curb caps, and dropout drains.The quality is excellent and they rarely make a mistake on any of the work. On the very rare occasion that they do Doug, the owner, has made me new pieces without any charge. He has even thrown in a few freebies and discounts throughout the years. In fact last year, Doug came to a job, consulted and designed a heating system for the building owner, installed some vents in the roof, expedited the work so we could continue with our roofing work , and then proceeded to not invoice my company or the building owner. I called 2-3 other highly rated HVAC shops and none of them had time to even talk about my kitchen range hood ductwork repair. Ed and John responded to my calls and email promptly and John came out to evaluate within a week or two, with a written quote provided a few days after. They were up front that it would take a while to slot into their schedule, but they would get it done. And without me prompting, I did get a message several weeks later to set a time. Once scheduled, the work was done quickly and well. My only gripes were that the quote struck me as a bit high (but that's their luxury since no one else would even give me a quote!) and they didn't suggest (and I didn't think to ask about) putting in a backdraft damper while they were in there. Next time I need HVAC work, I might shop around a little, but if Burlingame came in with a decent quote I would be comfortable working with them. read more

The igniter stopped functioning, probably due to the power surge after the power came back on during the last storm. This company is so friendly and timely. We had an issue just after Christmas with our heater, and they were the only ones whom called us back and came the same day we called. We had to have them come out again for an un-related issue with our heater a second time months later, and once again they were their within a day, pinpointed the problem, and fixed it within two hours. These types of companies are hard to find - I would highly recommend using them for anything you need around Heating or Air Conditioning. read more
