Barney, who was behind the counter, greeted us warmly and let us know he was there if we needed anything. We headed straight to the hat section, trying on different styles as we prepared for an upcoming rodeo. When I put one on, I wasn't sure how it looked, but I felt cute, so I boldly asked Barney, "Well, how do I look?" With the calmest and coolest demeanor, he simply nodded and said, "That's a good one." That, plus my daughter-in-law loved it, so that sealed the deal--I knew that was my hat! Barney then came over and gave us an in-depth education on cowboy hats--explaining the different materials, how pricing changes based on quality, and even how round-top hats are just like traditional cowboy hats but need to be molded down. We were so captivated by his knowledge that I joked he must have felt like he was giving a TED Talk! Beyond hats, we had the best conversation. My husband and I were stationed in Hawaii, and Barney's son, who's in the Coast Guard, was also stationed there. He made a comment about how if we all took the time to understand each other a little more, we'd see one another in a different light. That moment was so heartfelt that I might have scared him when I asked for a hug--but he was just such a kind soul! I also have to give a shout-out to Misty, who was just as incredible. She gave us a thorough lesson on boots--how some stretch more than others, the unique characteristics of different brands, and how she could special-order anything if they didn't have my size. She was down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and made our shopping experience even better with her warm smile and great conversation. Though we didn't interact with Jared as much, he was just as kind. When he rang up our order, he made sure we acknowledged both Barney and Misty's excellent service. I've seen people remind customers to "mention their name in a review," but Jared wasn't about himself--he genuinely wanted his teammates to get the recognition they deserved. That spoke volumes about his character. My daughter-in-law, grandbaby, and son-in-law now call Texas home, while my husband and I live in North Carolina. But anytime we come back, Boot Barn in Temple is the only place I'll shop for hats, boots, or anything Western--and I'll be asking for Barney!

At first, I thought it was a bit strange that they were performing inside of a Target, but I'm sure they worked it out with the managers. Plus, May is AAPI heritage month, so it was also nice to see them celebrate. Unlike some of the usual Target locations I go to in California, this Target appeared to be well-stocked with a variety of items. That being said, there was a good selection to choose from for the items that we needed. The customer service we received was friendly and helpful. 4 out of 5 stars.

I ordered it in the store and the computer accepted the order and indicated that it was in stock. They said to pick it up in 2 hours. We went to a nearby movie theater. I checked my email and it said "come by and pick it up." I got there and showed the service department person the message and he said it was OUT OF STOCK. Obviously I was unhappy and really wasn't in the mood for store excuses. Nevertheless he was aware that I "was frustrated ". He said a neighboring Target had 6 in inventory and would price match my order. I wasted gas due to Target's error and found what I needed in Temple. The stocker did price match the online Target price.

The staff at the loading dock for very professional and nice as they helped me load everything. There's also a sign clearly posted outside the door, explaining what they do and don't accept (unlike the GW in my previous location). Inside, the store is way cleaner than I expected. Every single person me, my children, and other customers, and one man happily pointed out new children's books for a mom with her young children. I found a hard wood bookcase for just $20. That's a steal, and not one I would have found in the Phoenix metro. It's in excellent condition, and I was able to quickly buy it, run home, and quickly come back to load it into my car. My personal take is to give this place a chance. It's small, but if you know what you're looking for, you can find great deals. I absolutely plan to come back.
