June 2026 Dinner Club Bonus Stop: Burlock & Barrel American Whiskey Sometimes the best part of a night out is the place you never planned to visit. After dinner at Alder & Oak, we noticed Burlock & Barrel American Whiskey nearby. From the outside, it had this dark, slightly mysterious look that immediately gave us speakeasy vibes. Curiosity won, so Dinner Club wandered in. We are SO glad we did. The atmosphere inside was incredibly cool. It felt intimate, interesting, and completely different from where we had just spent dinner. This is the kind of place you could easily choose for a date night, an after-dinner drink, or a night out when you want something beyond a typical bar. Then we met Ian and Riley behind the bar, and they made the experience. They introduced us to an upcoming cocktail called O Behave. At first, we thought they had given us complimentary shots. We later realized they had actually taken one full cocktail and divided it among us so everyone could taste it. And it was GOOD. O Behave features honey and hibiscus syrup, giving it this slightly sweet, floral flavor that was different without being strange or overly sweet. It was such a fun surprise, especially getting to try something that hadn't officially made its debut yet. The cocktail menu itself has plenty of personality, and we loved reading through the different creations. Even Cocktail Roulette caught our attention, where you essentially let the bartender take it from there. What started as "let's just peek inside this place" turned into one of our favorite surprises of the entire evening. Ian and Riley were welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to talk to. That interaction turned what could have been one quick drink into an experience we wanted to tell people about. If you're having dinner nearby, especially at Alder & Oak, don't automatically head home afterward. Walk over to Burlock & Barrel and see what they're pouring. Dinner Club went in completely by accident. We'll be going back on purpose. read more

I always have a fun time when I come for name that tune. They have so many other events to check out as well! It's such a cool place! And they have such cool drinks! Beer for those who aren't so into bourbon (a great selection too. Seasonal rotations even!) Otherwise a bunch of good stuff. My fave is sexual chocolate - very much frozen hot chocolate type vibes. Had a great time here with some friends. It was stand up comedy night which was a nice little surprise. Service was fantastic. I'm not a whiskey or bourbon drinker, but i saw they had a bottle of Zing Zang behind the counter and asked about what drink they use it for (because I didn't see one on their menu). The young lady made me a Bloody Mary with a Tajin rim with whiskey and it wasn't bad at all. Not something I'd really choose to get again, but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the bathroom was kinda gross. Toilet paper was all out, trash can overflowing with paper towels. Urine all over the seat. It really wasn't clean at all, granted, it was towards the end of the night and all, but still, the no TP thing, as a woman, was a little uncomfortable. I informed the young lady behind the counter and she apologized. No biggie, just make sure you check the TP status before you squat ladies. read more

Burlock & Barrel is such a great spot if you're into whiskey or just want to learn more about it. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and creates such a cool, laid-back vibe that makes the whole experience feel welcoming (not intimidating at all). We tried a whiskey flight and loved it so much we ended up taking home the Tropical bottle no regrets! Definitely a must-visit if you're in Riverside. Pro tip: grab an arepa from next door first it gives you a solid base before diving into the tastings. Great atmosphere, great selection, and a spot we'll absolutely be back to. read more

We love coming here! Ian and Connor are always amazing! Recently stopped by bringing our guests from out of town and they loved it as well! My favorite part is when they're willing to make something outside of their menu based on your preferences. I love that it always feels like they remember who I am even if it may not be true haha. How did we not know this spot existed?! We have been missing out! Popped in for some drinks after dinner, the gents did the Select whiskey and ginger ale, a very lovely pour. So they were pleased! Wonderful little secret in Brooklyn, a tasting room at the distillery. Nicely appointed with a nice bar and great cocktails using the house spirits. The bourbon was very nice, a step up from one of the other local distilleries I've sampled. The operation is new and focuses on small batch bourbons which allows for some experimentation. I love the fact that you can engage the master himself in conversation. I good spot to start your night and then head out for dinner. read more

This place hands down has the appearance of a big operation, but feels like your hometown bar. The bartender felt down to earth, and all of the customers did too. It felt like a no rush atmosphere and just wanted everyone to enjoy their time. I chose to do the tasting as I've never been here, but the drinks I seen around looked very tasty. We went here on a Thursday night because they had name that tune, and had a blast! They have a small parking lot, which was great to find the service was wonderful and if you're a whiskey lover, there are tons of options as well as mixed drinks to have. They also have a small selection of beer for those who don't drink whiskey. From looking around, they do lots of events so definitely gonna keep this place on our radar. read more

This is a great local joint offering whiskeys they distill in house. They offer tastings and cocktails. We opted to skip the tasting and go direct to the draft cocktails of a margarita made with habanero whiskey and a "rum" Punch variant. Both were very good. The venue is essentially a corner of their distilling warehouse so when you walk in you get an amazing aroma and also no a/c. It's a fun location but I imagine as Florida temps rise it could get unbearable indoors. I give it 4 stars for no a/c and small drinks for $11 each. They are delicious but small glasses and mostly ice. read more

I went here with my friends on their monthly burlesque show night. I believe it's the first Friday evening of each month. We went early for tastings that included honey whiskey, honey jalapeño whiskey, tropical flavor whiskey, a relative of Sly Stallone's whiskey, and a couple more. It was fun to give them a try and determine our favorites. The show was fun to watch and preached body positivity. I would definitely go back!! read more

Day spent in Riverside and we saw a sign outside of RAM advertising this wonderful local gem. All of their whiskeys are delicious, but the honey had us hooked! John really enjoyed the honey- jalapeno too. Ian was our whiskey guide extraordinaire and this is literally a 2 man show! They play with various recipes, come up with great cocktails and delicious spirits, hand bottle and hand label all in house. Occasionally I will buy local at Total Wine- but this one is too close to home, when I run low, I will run over for restocking! They also introduce new cocktails weekly (usually) and I might find an excuse to go back next week! My excuse is I need to try the new cocktails ;) read more

My friend and I tried this place in April after hitting up RAM. Cool hidden spot near Brooklyn. The owners are the nicest and so hospitable! Colin and Ian will make you laugh so hard while serving you strong and tastiest drinks! We have been back a few times since April and I just realized I never made a review. I bought their Flamingo whiskey for my girls trip and my friend loves their Jalapeño whiskey! We just got her the honey whiskey for her bday. I hear they are going to be updating the inside to add more seating. Oo they are dog friendly as long as the dogs are nice to their distillery cats! Discovered this place a few weeks ago online. Right next to Brooklyn (near downtown by the new apartments, Fresh Market, YMCA, etc.). Went to try some of their interesting whiskeys (honey and honey jalapeño). One of the two owners gave us a nice and informational tasting. The have a classic whiskey (very good), a rice whiskey (surprisingly goody) and two whiskeys using locally sourced honey. The jalapeño honey isn't hot/spicy at all but has all the taste of jalapeño. Great for cocktails/margaritas. The owners are extremely nice, knowledgeable, etc. They just opened up in Dec right before Covid, so check them out if you can! I have watched them transform this beautiful building into a distillery..long awaiting their opening. I was excited to stop by on the opening day. The place is large inside with the bar to the left as you enter. I was not sure what to do as I entered. I stepped up to the bar and they gave us tastings with explanations of the whiskey. It was smooth with a sweet end. After that not sure what to do..can we order a drink? Could you buy product? No signs or product out except a couple of bottles on the bar. The guy next to me had a beer? It seemed they were more set up for distribution than lounging..at least at this point. I will come back when they finish all the details. We came in on a Saturday around 2. It was busier than w expected. If you're impatient, this may not be the place for you. The two employees were very knowledgeable and passionate which my group loved! Since the cocktails are craft and have a lot of ingredients, they did take longer to come out. But we didn't mind since they were really good and high quality, and we were planning on staying a while to hangout anyway. The free tasting was a great compliment to our visit, but again we did have to wait about 40 minutes until they slowed enough to leave the bar and come to our table to provide the tasting. The man who did the tasting was great and we enjoyed it! He was very knowledgeable and had a lot of great recommendations. You can tell he's really passionate about his work! They have a cute cat that was sleeping on top of the whiskey boxes. We were able to walk around the production area which was cool. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The doors were open the whole time so it was a little warm inside but not too bad considering the time of year. read more

I wanted to buy Christmas gifts from here, so I came after work one night. I was the only person in there, but the owners were quick to greet me and ask what I needed assistance with. They had four options available, so I picked a honey vodka, jalapeno vodka, select whiskey, and barrel reserve whiskey. They made sure to box it up for me, and they even signed the two bottles of whiskey as an extra addition to the gifts. They were great to talk with and the nicest guys! I was able to use some gift cards I had as wedding presents towards the purchase, and it was easy to check out via Square. I'm excited to give these bottles as gifts and was proud to support local!
