I waited more than a year to write this review because I wanted to be sure the procedure worked. It was a perfect result. I didn't even have post operative swelling. Sadly, I've had just about one of every dental procedure during my life. So I have witnessed a lot a dentists at work. The good experience begins when you walk into the clinic and meet Sherrilyn who is the receptionist. She always has a smile on her face and seems like she really enjoys what she does. The dentist I see there is Dr. Monika. She is amazing and so is her dental assistant, Amy. They make each and every one of my visits very pleasant. Dr. Monika is not only extremely knowledgeable about anything dentistry, she's also very meticulous and will walk you through and describe every step of the way. She will do an initial consultation where they take pictures and check out the condition of your teeth. Then she'll down everything that needs to be done and the prices for all the procedures. I got my top 2 wisdom teeth removed yesterday and both Dr. Monika and Amy ensured that the extraction was pain-free and as comfortable as it could be for me. Dr. Monika also gave me her personal number in case I had question/concerns and took the time to call me the next day to make sure that I was doing well. Everyone who's asked me which dentist i go to, I always tell them about Dr. Monika. The whole team at La Vita Dental will take care of you and make this dreadful experience a pleasant one. So. I was sorta upset. That my "2" hour back to back appointment for cleaning and X-ray (changed…read moredentist) was going to take "2" visits due to the fact they found it needed more cleaning than could be done in 1 hour. Now the previous dentist I had. They did text to communicate when I first signed up just before covid, but, either that employee did it on her own phone. or they stopped using the service they used to use to text me. either way. they would call me for appointments. and miss me as I was at work couldn't take the call. and when I called back it would go to voicemail. and they don't seem to email. so I got a missed call during work. and by the time I remembered about it and called back they were closed. couldn't recall if I had an appointment that weekend or not but I knew I had one in Aug...... decided I needed to find a dentist that texted emailed and actually answered their phones. so. why did I give them 5 stars when they told me it was 1 visit and now I have to come back for another hour of cleaning? the hygienist.... wouldn't budge. she told me it needed more than 1 hour cleaning. and she wasn't willing to sacrifice my teeth to accommodate my demands. she got receptionist in to talk sense in to me. and when that didn't do the trick they then got the dentist in. to talk to me. and finally I just agreed. NOT because they bully me, but because they cared enough to say NO, no we are not squishing 2 hours of much needed dental cleaning into a 1 hour slot. I am happy they cared enough to stand their ground. I really liked her cleaning pace. I didn't feel apprehensive because I could mentally follow along with where she was cleaning. she rocks! dentist was awesome too. came in. made sure I knew what the game plan is. when I come back again. and what we doing to make sure I stay on top of areas. Koodos to the guy who did my X-rays. it's not easy squishing those wings in there at just the right spot. he took his time. and it went well. I felt good I didn't feel nervous. And the receptionist team were amazing I left them figuring out billing for my two insurance there was something iffy about who to bill how much or something. Hahaha. I was over charged and it took me weeks and at least ten phone calls to get the refund. as a result I moved on and I suggested that you look elsewhere.

Cecilia Ng was good too but she retired and Dr. Chan took over. Dr. Chan has been great so far and the staff is awesome. The staff are engaging, friendly and keep you informed as to what they are doing. Well for me, they are always letting me know what they are going to do before they start such as 'now we are beginning the cleaning', 'are you still comfortable?', ' I'll be switching to the scaler', etc. Dr. Chan had provided me with options as to whether I wanted Invisalign or braces. He put my info and scans into the Invisalign system to make sure it would work. I had gotten Invisalign which I thought I may not have been able to get/use as I thought I would to have actual metal braces. So far, the Invisalign is working for the front teeth, however my lower jaw is slightly off so the top back teeth are in a bit more which align with my lower teeth.

The hygienist I had was great and very friendly but all the other staff seemed to be stuck up, rude or just unhappy to be there. The dentists themselves do good enough work but have terrible chair-side manner and show no personal interest and it's the same with the assistants- it seems to be all strictly business all the time and is not a welcoming or comforting environment- it feels overly clinical. After only two visits (1 cleaning and check up and one to have fillings done), I decided to take my business elsewhere. Even though I can't walk to my new dentist, the difference between the two places is like night and day. I suppose it's a good enough option for students living on campus and others who may not want to commute/drive elsewhere, but if you have the option to go elsewhere, I would.

As time as passed it seems that my time with the dentist were getting shorter and shorter. Before I stopped going to this clinic, Dr. Yee was extremely late, and the time spent with him was (what felt like) less than 1 minute. He didn't even see me the last time I went! It honestly feels like Dr. Yee has figured out being a dentist and now he's more focused on being an entrepreneur, expanding his office and hiring more dental hygienists. I was really nervous about this this procedure, but both Dr Lee and Rae were so good at making me feel relaxed and the procedure was over and done with so fast! No pain, and each session was only 30 minutes. I had a quick recovery both times. When I would call for my second appointment, the receptionist was kind and would ask me follow up questions about my recovery. Really happy with everything. Price wise, I found this clinic relatively affordable. I used to have a student healthcare plan, and while the clinic was not in network, they were still much more affordable to pay out of pocket than some in network clinics. Definitely recommend this place.
