My friend treated and they ordered sweet and sour spicy soup along with Shanghai chicken noodle, Ginger beef, rice and a pork dish. I really like the food here. The ginger beef was my favorite. The pork was really good. It has a very nice sweet glaze flavor to it (like honey). The food went really well with the rice. This place is known for their hot sweet and sour spicy soup. Presentation was great. Staff was good as well. We really enjoyed our meal. Decor was nice. The restaurant is actually two floors. Also they have a private room in the front for parties. My coworker told me about the hot and sour soup here and that it was the best. I finally made my way there and tried it. I concurred! It was the best hot and sour soup I ever had. It was not overly starchy and was filled with plenty of ingredients like tiny shrimps and meat. Unexpected. I would definitely be back to get more of the soup. We also had the fried ginger beef and house special chow mein. The chow mein had seafood and char siu (bbq meat) in it. I loved the crispy noodles. The ginger beef was very tasty too. The service was good and I could see why it was busy on a weeknight. I was told the shanghai noodle was delicious too. I'll definitely be back to try that. read more

Returned to Burnaby Palace for lunch on a weekday in a group of five. There is parking in their lot and plenty of free street parking close by. Ordered five dishes and all were excellent in terms of taste and presentation. I really enjoyed the House Special Chicken and the Ginger Beef. Service was great and we all came away full and satisfied. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Burnaby Palace. read more

First time here. Food was okay. Some things were amazing while other things were mediocre. I wasn't impressed with the fried rice (the rice was old and hard) the crab though was delicious and fresh. The crepes for the Peking duck was fresh and chewy. Parking is a bit of a headache but at least it's free. read more

New Year's Eve 2025 I had dinner at Burnaby Palace, 3110 Boundary Rd., Burnaby, BC. ...... our meal was Pineapple Sweet & Sour Boneless Pork, Ginger Fried Beef, Buddha's Feast Vegetables, Singapore Curried Rice Noodle (shrimp, pork, egg) and House Fried Rice (shrimps & BBQ pork) ......... all was fresh cooked gluten free. There was no problem when requesting gluten free, the server was well versed regarding which dishes were safe to order and explained how the various dishes would be prepared to make them gluten free and safe for me to consume. read more

Decent Chinese food, with plenty of vegetarian options, but not top-tier for Vancouver/Burnaby. We saw that they had a reasonably sized vegetarian section of the menu, so we tried them out for dinner one evening via a takeout order. We got their Szechuan Spicy Eggplant ($17 plus tax), Szechuan Spicy Green Beans ($17), and Fried Tofu with Vegetables in Black Bean Sauce ($16.50). -The eggplant wasn't remotely spicy, but instead was quite sweet, with a rather gloopy sauce. Not terrible, but this is far from the best Szechuan eggplant around. Wouldn't recommend this dish. 2.5/5 -The green beans also weren't remotely spicy, but were flavourful enough and cooked well. It had a nice dark soy-like sauce in the bottom. Decent. 3/5 -The tofu dish was solid, though there's actually not much tofu; it's mostly vegetables, with a well-done black bean sauce. Solid dish, just wish there was more tofu. 3.5/5 All in all, I don't think we'd return, but it's reasonably Szechuan Chinese food with plenty of veggie options. Go to Szechuan Chongqing for similar style food but executed far better. Nice change, but not an especially high recommendation. read more

I passed by Burnaby Palace almost daily in the 8 years that I used to work in the area, I think I have gone there for lunch once with coworkers but I had no recollection of what the restaurant was like. I went there again a few weeks ago after attending a family burial at Forest Lawn cemetery. I made a reservation, the burial took much longer than anticipated, I called the restaurant to change the time and there was no issue. We arrived with the table ready for us, we asked to move to a room by the entrance to have some privacy and to distance ourselves from other customers. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The amount of food in each dish is generous. The most impressive is the Hot and Sour Soup, it has just the right balance of hot and sour and is the best hot and sour soup I ever have had in any Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. Add a little red vinegar (need to ask the server for it) and the taste is perfect. I also ordered the Sliced Beef with Orange Flavour. This dish is a little disappointing, the taste is rather bland, the orange flavour did not come through. The last dish I ordered was House Special Chow Mein, it is tasty but a bit too salty and we couldn't finish it because of that. Towards the end of the meal, I needed to "wash" it with hot water first. Overall, the food is still better than most other Chinese restaurants and the value for money is excellent. That, along with the friendly service, will make this a regular stop for me after a cemetery visit. read more

As a whole, my family and I love Burnaby Palace. Food is always on point. We usually order delivery with no issues. One day recently, we decided to go in. Food was still amazing, service was meh, but I don't really care because the food is amazing. Anyway, at the end of the meal, I leave a tip and proceed to gather my things. The waitress (who quite honestly, only took our order) came over, took the cash and then proceeded to let me know/ask me to leave more of a tip. It was beyond awkward. I left a 15% tip. It was only myself and my 2 grown kids. Maybe 3 dishes tops. In any case, I just came back from the States, so all I had were American dollars, so I left a few more bills but damn, it was a very awkward situation. Burnaby Palace has been around for quite awhile from what I understand. I've never been to them before to be honest, and I only discovered them due to COVID-19 and been looking for new take out places. We got their salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper boneless pork, beef and broccoli stir fry, and also their chow mian. All the flavours were on point, the squid was a bit soggy due to take out, but I'm sure it would have been crispy at the restaurant. Overall they are good Chinese takeaway on a busy weekday. They have made their website really easy to order food, which I like. Because of that we've ordered take out from them several times already. read more

Burnaby Palace was at another location previously and as a family we have been enjoying the fantastic food which is always fresh and delicious for 40 years now. September 29th we held a 91st birthday party there for my Uncle Roy and the owner and staff have always treated him like a king. We have never in 40 years ever had a meal that was not great. The service is always excellent no matter how busy they are and we just will not go anywhere else as its the best! For special occasions, large parties, weddings, celebrations of life we have had upstairs as they have seating for 80 people and its a lovely room. Burnaby Palace is open for lunch which is a bonus as well and prices are very reasonable for the large portions. This restaurant is close to where I live. I pass it all the time and always wondered if it was any good. Well one day I finally decided to try it. I went on their website and looked at the menu and ordered a seafood chow mein. On their website you could order online so I did. I like that. I prefer that than talking to someone especially if their English might not be so good. Anyways, it wasn't very good. The flavour was ok I guess but when you start to finish your food, you could see a huge pool of oil on the bottom of the container....kinda gross. Burnaby Palace has been a huge part of my growing up. I remember coming here all the time in the 1980s as a kid (back then they were on Canada Way and Smith) with my family, so for me, this really was a trip down Memory Lane. Parking (15 or so spots) is available in the back, but it fills up. Try the side streets. Not sure what used to be at this location, but the interior is quite beautifully modeled. Really nice blue lighting accents in the ceiling. Random trivia: the paintings and calligraphy on the walls are from their old location. Yes, I recognize them. The place is pretty packed (we came on a Thursday), and piles of people came in and out for take-out. Makes the foyer really busy, but this is a good thing for them. The restaurant is 2 floors, so the waiters have to go up and down the stairs all the time. Must be a great workout. I simply had to order the same dishes that I remembered as a kid. The big question is: did the recipes change? Shanghai stir-fried noodle - EXACTLY the way I remembered it as a kid. I was ready to cry. Thin strips of meat and vegetables, nice touch (but not too heavy) soy. I was in food heaven. Delicous. Dumplings - recipe has changed. The filling inside stays clumped. Tasted a touch better than what you'd find at T&T, but they were shorter, thicker, and not as deep-fried as I remembered them. Chinese Pancake - less oily than I remember. This not a bad thing though. Could use a bit more green onion for flavour, but otherwise a good balance in terms of taste. We also tried the beef on broccoli. The broccoli was decent, but the beef was done well. Just the right amount of sauce, with that light crispy stir-fried touch. The place gave us fortune cookies with our bill. After countless years of driving past Burnaby Palace Restaurant, located at the corner of Boundary Road and Dominion, we finally decided to try the place out. The interior of this restaurant is actually fairly nice with coffered ceilings and bright light coming in from the windows. On the main floor, they have the smaller tables along the side next to the windows and a couple of large tables at the back of the deep and narrow restaurant (with a private room near the front). Their dim sum menu is a bit limited so we chose the Hot and Spicy Wontons ($8.25) and Steamed Juicy Pork Buns ($8.50). In addition, we ordered the House Special Mixed Meat and Seafood Chow Mein ($13) and the Fried Ginger Beef ($15) from their main menu. The hot and spicy wontons were not overly spicy but it did have a good kick and the wonton fillings seemed to be on point. The first few XLB that we picked up broke despite the wrapper not being too thin. That being said, the ones we ate later did hold up and had an adequate juicy filling. For the price, I thought the house special chow mein seemed a bit on the small size... especially the amount of noodles. It was a good dish, however, with a nice, crispness to the noodles and a few large plump shrimp mixed in with the rest of the toppings. Last up was the fried ginger beef and this turned out to be a good sized portion with plenty of strips of sweet, caramelized beef mixed with crunchy celery slices, red peppers and sautéed onions. We decided to drop by for a revisit a few months later for an early dinner and started out with a couple of Vegetarian Egg Rolls ($2 each) which turned out to resemble spring rolls instead (having a thinner wrapper). The filling inside was quite hot and the fried wrapper was nice and crispy. The Mandarin Sweet and Sour Pork ($14.50), while coated in a dark sweet sauce, wasn't overly sweet. The dish was quite large and had plenty of crisp and chewy deep-fried pork pieces. The Sauteed Prawns with Mixed Veggies ($18.50) was fairly good with snappy shrimp mixed in with a combination of baby corn, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and snow peas. We finished off our meal with the House Special Mixed Meat & Seafood Chow Mein ($13) which, as we mentioned before, was a rather small noodle portion size. At the end of our meal, they brought out some complimentary fortune cookies. I found Burnaby Palace to be a fairly solid westernized Chinese restaurant that reminded me a little bit of Mr. Ho's Wonton. I was so happy that BPR's menu includes my favorite dishes and we had a feast! The tomato beef chow mein was spot on with the taste and the beef was nice and tender. Also had the soup dumplings which were nice and juicy. The Peking Duck was also delicious and the seafood was good too. This place really has it all. Great ambiance plus a full bar! Definitely coming back when we're back in Burnaby. read more

This is one of my favourite go-to's for when you're craving simple Chinese food. They have all the traditional dishes, but what sets these guys apart from the hundreds of other Chinese restaurants is their food quality. The vegetables are always fresh & crisp, and their dishes are layered with flavour. The wonton soup is probably the best I've ever had. The broth is clear, but packs so much flavour, it's almost inconceivable. Their egg foo yung is top notch. I've been here dozens of times and I honestly can't recall a less-than-stellar dish, not once. The service is always friendly and attentive too, which isn't always guaranteed at my other favourite Chinese restaurants. I also love the clean, beautiful aesthetic of the restaurant, and how the entire dining area is like a vertical banquet hall. Very original and captivating. read more

Never tried this place before COVID so I have no idea how the regular sit down service or food is, but in current conditions it's a pretty solid place for 'Canadian' Chinese take out. The chow mein has a little more flavour than other similar places, almost reminding me of soy sauce chow mein (豉油皇炒麵), which is a good thing. The sweet and sour pork is also nicely deep fried and adequately saucy. Everything is also priced well and comes in pretty generous portions. I have been here a few times during the current pandemic, and on my last visit last night they threw in what they called a 'sample' of tea in the bag which turned out to be a 20 pack box of jasmine tea bags. Pretty nice gesture. :) Recommend this place if you are looking for this style of Chinese food. read more

I came by to try out the restaurant on Sunday night and the restaurant was packed. The Chinese food here is not the traditional Chinese restaurant dishes if that is what you are looking for. It focuses more on Canadian Chinese food that specializes on a lot of dishes like sweet and sour pork, ginger fried beef, fillet fish with veggies, fried rice and crispy noodle dishes. Dishes were decent but can be improved for the prices that are in menu. Some dishes were a bit too salty and some could used a bit more flavour. They are in the entertainment book for 25% off the total bill up to $25, which makes the pricing a bit better. But I probably won't come again if it wasn't for the discount. A place for quick and easy sweet and sour pork fix but if you are looking for some solid traditional Chinese food I would suggest to skip. read more

Burnaby Palace is located along Boundary Road and close to the intersection of Grandview Highway. When you first see the restaurant from the outside it looks like a huge house full of windows. When you enter you are invited to a vibrant welcome of smell and dishes that people have ordered and are currently eating. My wife and my mum came to this restaurant and were greeted warmly by the servers. There was a lot of different types of dishes in the menu but we decided on getting the " Good for 3" Set Menu and 10 pieces of steamed dumpling. Unfortunately I do not remember what was written on the menu but I do recall the placement of the page on the menu being at the very back of it. I also remember the food we had. We had: Salmon battered with lemon and sauce Steamed Vegetables 10 Steamed Pork Dumplings Beef with sweet sauce and vegetables Mixed Rice with vegetables and meat. The price wasn't high, probably around $6-$12 per dish. Would highly recommend if you're craving chinese food or if you want to have big parties. Huge portions! But well made! The portions don't overwhelm like lower quality places like Kent's Kitchen (though I guess it's not fair comparing a take-out place to a restaurant like this one). We took the leftovers home, and it was still good after reheating. I liked the crispy chow mein. The prawns were flavoured really well, though I usually don't like eating them with the shells on, it worked. I don't remember what else we ordered, but everything tasted good, not forced fake flavour or overly greasy. My plate had something on it, but I pointed it out, and I was brought a new one without hassle. The take-out container is recyclable plastic and is shaped like a loaf pan! Always good, slightly expensive but definitely worth it. Last night my boyfriend and I enjoyed the dinner for two (because it was a quick and easy choice). Oily but piping hot crunchy spring rolls served with a hint of cinnamon plum sauce. Incredible honey garlic that was piled high (only came across ine unsavoury grizzled piece-hid in a napkin). We turned the chicken fried rice into dry noodle chowmein (hello egg yolk sensitivity). A diverse not onion centric mixed veggy dish all preceding a mostly runny slightly mango-flavoured sweetened condensed milk dessert. Wonderful. read more

I find their restaurant is nice too, but the location is a bit awkward to get to, being right off of Boundary, it's not a big deal, but it we do tend to use the delivery instead. The food is pretty good. Nice portions of tasty Chinese food. In particular, I like both their crispy and soft chow mein, as well as their sweet and sour dishes, and crispy ginger pork, all good! Oh wow. This is real Chinese food. I hadn't had real Chinese food in so long, it was like taking a wave of endorphins overcoming my brain and my mouth with the first bite of lemon chicken. My friend and I ordered a couple things to try and shared everything. Every bite was a rocket to heaven. We got the lemon chicken, broccoli with beef, BBQ pork and house fried rice. I could live off of that rice alone. I've never had anything close to as good as that rice in my life. Our waitress was super efficient and got a kick out of my ridiculously joyous expression whenever she asked how we were doing. They have dim sum and authentic Chinese here. I might scream in ecstasy if their dim sum is as good as the Chinese food. I'm going to eat here every time I come to Vancouver from now on. I wish they delivered to Seattle. There's a saying in the Seattle foodie club I'm in that the closest Chinese food to us is in Richmond. I'll be detouring to Burnaby for sure. This restaurant has great decor. We were recommended to try Burnaby Palace on Boundary, so we stopped by for dinner to check it out. We ordered the hot and sour soup, the house special chow mein, and the sweet and sour fish. The highlight was the fish, it wasn't dry and combined with the sauce, it was tasty. The chow mein wasn't very good, not much flavour. The soup was fine, it's what you would expect, more sour than hot though. Overall, it was a very average meal. The prices are fine, service was okay. We booked this restaurant for my grandma's 88th birthday. We spoke to the manager in person, put down a deposit and reserved a room for 30 people well in advanced - 1 month before the party. We get to the restaurant, and our room is taken. We speak to the same manager, and he said that our deposit DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE TIME, it only guarantees the room, and it's a first come first serve basis. No, this is NOT how reservations and deposits work! So does that mean even if we book the room at 7:30pm, we might get the room at 10:00pm?! This is the most ridiculous excuse I ever heard. (I had to change this line a couple of times, because they were all NSFW words...) I was expecting for an apology or the manager to try and fix their mistakes, but instead they made it sound like we were the ones to blame. Not. Impressed. We have to wait close to 40 mins before the party upstairs leaves. We finally get 3 tables. The service was quick. Food was decent. The servers were kind to us and checked up on our tables every now and then. But not enough to get me to come back here ever. read more
