The place was busy but it wasn't an obnoxious volume .. everyone dining there had good manners too, it wasn't one of those loud party places where you hear drunk people or alcoholics getting rowdy. Parking was super easy to find on the street and it was free. The server was really sweet, patiently waited for my gf and i to order and she gave food tips on how to enjoy the omakese spread like in what order to eat it. She gave good recommendation of which sake to pair with everything i ate. I'd definitely revisit this place and try their lunch specials.

They also have an underground parkade. I came again a few weeks later and had their salmon oshi - this was very good. The truffle udon was also decent but a bit one -dimensional. Overall, I do like the concept and atmosphere, I just think I haven't ordered the right things to make this a "wow" spot for me. But its good enough that I would come back to order different things until I get there ;)

What I found particularly strange was the way the steak was presented this time. Normally, a Tomahawk has the meat on one side of the bone, but this one seemed to have the meat separated into two sections, almost as if it had been cut through the middle of the steak. It just didn't feel like the Tomahawk I was used to having here. The steak also cooled down very quickly, and once it got cold, the texture became noticeably tougher and less enjoyable. The service was also particularly slow this time. We were seated around 7:30 PM and placed our food and drink orders within about 30 minutes. The drinks came out within roughly 20 minutes, which was reasonable, but we waited almost an hour before the first appetizer finally arrived. Considering it wasn't an especially busy evening, the wait felt quite long. That said, the other dishes were still pretty good. I especially enjoyed the Stuffed Squid appetizer. Overall, I still think Alta is a nice option for a small gathering or dinner with friends. I've enjoyed my previous visits, which is why I keep coming back.
