Sometimes they are the only business in Manhattan that carries what you're looking for, e.g. SodaStream carbonation machine refills. They're not inexpensive, about on par with Amazon, but I get 15% off coupons regularly in the mail and that'll get me in there to buy some more kitchen items. I usually end up going in for one item and ending up buying a few more of their ingenious gadgets. It is worth saying again though, and is the reason why I came to Yelp to review them: The staff is consistently friendly and when it isn't busy I've found myself just having an interesting conversation about cooking, etc. They are bright and well-informed about their business.

Other times I have had customer service representatives who would not even acknowledge your presence. I have even had a little of both. I have found the most luck with ordering online and picking up in store. That way I can bypass my luck with the customer reps. The last time I was there I had asked them to gift wrap a package which they have done in the past. Well, their new system is DIY gift wrap. They have boxes, tape, wrap and a whole wrapping station set up in the store. I had to wrap two very large purchases and it was quite the mess. I got frustrated by the process and the lack of help I was getting. Still, having the wrapping materials there was a very big help. BB&B has a good selection of products and a wide variety, too. They always seem to have well stocked shelves, as well. The prices are reasonable on some things but very expensive on other items. You have to comparison shop for sure. I have many things cheaper elsewhere. I have never tried to match prices here so I cannot speak to that part of the BB&B experience. I do know they have mobile coupons and those are very useful. Overall a good store because of the product selection. I am three starring them because of the spotty and downright horrible customer service I have received in the past.

My wife went back with the receipt and a $20 of $100 coupon. The cashier wasn't sure how to apply the coupon so she called a manager, who told my wife she needed to return $100 of merchandise (!?) in order to get the $20 off. This made no sense, even the cashier looked incredulous. The manager acted like my wife was trying to scam the store, and refused to accept the coupon. I decided to return all the merchandise the next day. The person at the return desk couldn't keep track of which items she already scanned and accused us of having used the merchandise (we only took off some of the packaging). I'm going to look for similar items at Target first, and get the rest from a different BB&B. I will not return to this store.

So I went to the store, got what I needed and browsed. I made my way through the store and passed the candle section. I really love Yankee candles, and I purchase them regularly through other stores like Hallmark and the Yankee Candle Store, etc. Um excuse me, you want $11 for a 2 ounce Yankee candle? Appalling. I also found a cool little suction cup hook for the bathtub area that can house all your bathing products, i.e razors, loofahs, whatnot's. I purchased the items and proceeded to the checkout. The people that work at this location are drones with no personalities and fake smiles. The girl seemed annoyed that I was in her line and when I told her that I didn't want the candle, she harumphed loudly, and threw it in a bin behind her. Whatever, I don't need no stinkin candle from a stinkin attitudey girl. And I digress. So after I got the suction cup gadget home, it didn't work. It kept falling off the wall, and disturbed my cat with all it's clanging and banging on the ground. So I went to return it. The lady at the customer service counter asked me if there was anything wrong with it. I said , "No." Long story short, she was rude and put off that I would return something and not exchange it for something else.
