Great place to stay if you are visiting Burney Falls, about 25 minute drive from the campground. Bathrooms were nice & clean and staff was so friendly. It's a little close to the main road so you will get a little noise in the morning, but every evening was super quiet. The pond is nice to look at but also a mosquito breeding ground so make sure you are ready with bug spray , citronella and bug screens on your RV doors. Staff was incredibly friendly, the bathrooms were clean and showers were huge and hot! Wifi worked great throughout the campground. Trash was picked up regularly and never built up or smelled, amenities were maintained well even on a busy Memorial Weekend. The kids loved riding their bikes and feeding the goats. We stayed in cabin 2. Just a couple of notes. The larger bed is advertised as a queen but it's a full. I sleep on a queen at home and this is definitely smaller. There are no plates, bowls or utensils, which surprised us as when we've stayed in other KOA cabins there were. The cabin shower is small so we used the main showers in camp and they were beautiful. Honestly the nicest showers I have ever seen at a campground; big and plenty of hot water. The A/C unit in the cabin was loud but pumped out plenty of cool air making the cabin cool and comfortable even at the hieght of the afternoon heat. The Wifi was excellent and our devices ran smoothly. My husband was able to watch a soccer game on his iPad with no problems. Thanks for a great stay. read more

Where do I start? The grounds have large pines and a lake. 50 amp service has been added since KOA took over a long time privately owned camp. The office store is well stocked and also has a restaurant that is open weekends in the offseason. Check with the staff for hours during the summer months. Part of the office includes a kitchen, game room and a giant big screen. Pool, air hockey and table tennis awesome. They don't only have a restaurant ,they have one with fantastic food. Take a night off from cooking and stroll over to enjoy the fare. But the best part of our time there was the staff. Everyone was helpful and courteous. My wife had a zoom guitar lesson, so Kevin showed us where she could setup in a quiet private space. He didn't have to be so nice but of course he was. This is an example of how everyone treated us. The place is very nice, sites are clean, they have an attendant to guide you to your site, and it's situated next to a major road so it's easy to find. Their camp store is stocked with some essentials and are reasonably priced. There's also a small lake at the campground so you can fish(catch and release only). It's about 30 minutes from lassen national park and about ten minutes from the subway caves. Burned falls state park is about 30 minutes away if ou want to see the waterfall, but make sure to get there early or they will turn you away. Entrance fee is $10 for passenger cars. There are definitely things to do here if you have a car. If you don't have a car, that's ok! Fishing at the lake, biking, and hiking are a few things you can do close by. Now to the cons: my only concern was the wifi connection here. The WiFi works by the camp store and the surrounding areas, so when we picked our site we got the far corner of the campground so there was no wifi where we were at. Also, cell reception here does not work here, so if you need cell reception outside of the campground, youd have to drive in certain areas on the road to get maybe one bar. So if you can, please avoid booking any sites there if you need wifi. read more

We have stayed at Rancheria for years before it became a KOA. It has been greatly improved. I will not repeat all that they have - you can see their website for that. The people are still wonderful. The sites have been upgraded to 50A! The satellite TV stays on all day! WiFi is good at the building/office/game room so you can check email and use call over WiFi to make calls. We used the showers and laundry facilities and they were great. Our once a year trip was in May for six days with very nice weather upon arrival and departure. A wonderful winter storm in between in which we got a dusting of snow made for an awesome stay. The office has a store with the basics to cover what you might have forgotten. One nice thing is RV items that are quality - not the cheap stuff. They also have good ice cream if you run out. read more

Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA - August 13, 2023 We arrived on a Sunday afternoon after spending four days in the desert watching for Perseid meteors. We had had zero cell coverage there and were a little anxious to reconnect. They have full hookups and Wi-Fi works great at the store area, but no Wi-Fi in the park propper. No cell coverage for us either. We got checked in and Scott, at the front counter, did a nice job explaining some of the local attractions for the area. Most of the sites here are fairly large, and since the camp wasn't terribly full, our rigs were spaced out across the park. That gives a feeling of openness. They have a store at the main office as well as a café that is open certain days of the week, Friday and Saturday 8:30-10:30 am and 4-7 pm, and Sunday 8:30-10:30 am. They have a laundry mat and a game room. They also have a pond where you can do catch and release fishing. A lot of the sites are right next to the pond. Hwy 89 goes right by the park, so there is some road noise. It's a clean well maintained park and staff are very friendly and helpful. Once Wi-Fi is doing better, I'll upgrade to 5 stars. read more

The site is close to Burney Falls and McCloud falls. A good place to stay if you like basic camping. The wifi and cellular service is very limited. You can only get service at or near the main office. I hope that changes soon. No swimming at all. Nice fire pit. We used both wood and charcoal in the fire pit. The hookups were very easy. The dump is on site. The staff was awesome and very helpful. We would visit again. read more

We just stayed two nights at this KOA and enjoyed it very much. They are a newer KOA so they are still getting settled in. Pros: -nice campsites around the pond with lots of pine trees. -this is one of the cleanest grounds I have camped at -pond has geese and ducks raising families. Also lots of Blue Jays, Robins, black birds, dragon flies and Butterfly's -very quiet except for road noise on the nearby hwy 89. - dog waste bags and trash bins located in several places. - nice little enclosed dog areas - walking trails through out the forrest -very nice and clean restrooms with large bathroom and shower room stalls -store hours 8am-9pm -they have some RV supplies in the store -respectful fellow campers -it is rustic with no internet or cell service. -it does have some cable channels -nice staff. At least the guy that checked us in was very professional and helpful. I do not recall his name. He was from Chili. Great asset to this property. Cons: -Very limited groceries in their store. Had to travel 30+ miles to get milk. -staff in store were more interested in a wine display than helping us out where to go for supplies -be prepared with food and drink -they have a restaurant but only open in the morning Fri-sun. -not that this is a bad thing, but it is out in the middle of beautiful nowhere. The town of Burney is about 15 miles away and there is no internet or cell service at the Kampground until you almost get to Burney. -hwy 89 road noise can get loud as it is travelled by big rigs. -their site map does not match layout and cable channels are not the same as listed on site map. We enjoyed our quiet two night stay and would definitely stay there again. read more

The General store is large and stocked with everything a prepared camper would need. They even had a two pack for smore making which was great since I don't need a whole bag of marshmallows. My site was T-06 which was next to the K9 walk, I don't mind it made for great dog petting and non of the dogs barked the entire time I was there. My actual site was not buggy however you must go to the General Store for Wifi (I needed to get some work done). After the store closed I sat on the front porch at the picnic tables and got chewed up by the bugs, bring bug spray if you go over near that area. There is a restaurant however it has very limited hours. The staff was great! A couple that worked there made the stay that much better as we spoke about parks all over the country and the gentlemen led me to my campsite which was a nice touch! I'm used to finding them my self but it was great he lead me there with the golf cart and even pulled the table closer to the campfire for me. (With out asking!!) Highly recommend this place and this couple really cared for the place as if it was their own. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. Enjoy your stay! read more

The new ownership have made strides in bringing this KOA up to Holiday standards. The staff are incredibly accommodating and the location is beautiful. Danny's hospitality was above and beyond gracious. They even stocked the pond with some good sized rainbow trout (catch and release). They are closed for the season in two days but you would never know it. This place is alive with all the beauty and comforts you will ever need. We will definitely be back! read more

This is a great option for staying in the area to explore. Traveling with two kids 13/9. The staff were friendly and helpful. They suggested local places to check out. The campground was clean and well kept. There is a nice playground, dog park, tetherball, and pedal carts for the kids. The general store is well stocked. There is a grocery store in Burney and a couple of restaurants. It was a great find when traveling with kids. read more

The staff was amazing Kelly who checked us in was super friendly and very helpful! Roberto who is the on-site maintenance was extremely helpful as well. When we arrived we found that our water heater plug had not been replaced when we had it winterized the previous winter. That is when Kelly gave us recommendations on where we might pick one up close by . She also called Roberto and asked if he might have one. After going through his miscellaneous parts, he found something that worked! Thus saved our trip!!! And we were able to have hot water for our entire trip!! Neither one of them ever made us feel like a nuisance. Lovely people!!! We will most definitely stay here again!!! read more

I would rate the campground itself as a 5 . Clean ,centrally located between Burney Falls and Lassen Park My rating of 3 is because of reservations months before with a group of 4 sites together. When we arrived were surprised to find out ALL 4 of us were split up far apart!! The closest group member was 7 spaces away. My son's family and 2 yr old granddaughter were 17 spaces away!! The 4 th member of our group was in Timbuktu!! Maybe 30 spaces away!! Management WHATS UP WITH ARBITRARY MOVING OF GROUPS THAT RESERVED MONTHS BEFORE??. We were a reserved group! If you do reserve a few spaces , PLEASE ask if there is any possibility that you may be moved out of your reservation! GET IT IN SOME FORM OF WRITING!! Or you just may be disappointed when you arrive! Not very professional! read more

Positives: great location if you are visiting Lassen Volcanic area. The employees were great and on weekends they have a restaurant. Our family had dinner here (the burritos were great!) and it was really nice to have that at the campgrounds. Negatives: we stayed in a cabin while here (we stayed in one way in the back that doesn't look anything like the cabins in the front.) The cabin had a shower and bathroom, but when we woke up in the morning the whole outside area of our cabin wreaked of sewage. The other part that was a bit disappointing is there was not much for our son to do. We pick KOAs when we travel because there is usually things for him to do such as a playground, swings, a pool, etc. There wasn't anything for a toddler to do here. That said, it looks like they are planning in turning their pond into a fishing pond, which would be a great activity. Overall, this campsite isn't awful, but it needs some work to match typical KOA standards. read more

One of the cleanest campgrounds we have been to. The sites are clean, bathrooms are really nice, and staff is so kind. The park is very quiet at night and I got some of the best sleep there. The kids loved the scavenger hunt, petting zoo, and newly constructed park. Only a 20 minute drive from Burney Falls. Wifi was not a big deal for me because I like to disconnect when we camp. We will definitely be back for a future trip. Highly recommend! read more
