I love the sand garden for kids to play with in the front. Theres also horseshoe and tether all. The beer garden looks beautiful as well. Sadly we did not get to enjoy some of these perks as our schedule was a little packed. Next time I hope we can try it out. The walking paths of different colors was a fun treat for my kids. They kept wanting to find the art pieces all around. We did the purple, pink, turquoise, yellow and rainbow trail. Next time I'd like to venture to the other side and try out red and finish yellow. The viewpoints/lookout area is magical as well. The places we wanted to visit this trip were all around 30 min to an hour away from the park. Not bad but not too close. That's the price you pay to be in an area surrounded by the woods and beautiful blue skies. Every camper was friendly and waved as you walked. If you have not been here and are undecided just do it! It will be a truly wonderful experience. I think I'd like to go back when my kids are older. I'd prefer to get the chance to read next to the fire here. There is so much to explore on the property and nearby. Fishing Ponds, Remote Control airplanes and landing strip on the property. Down the road is McCloud Golf Course staring straight at Mt. Shasta! We went on an awesome hike on the Squaw Creek Tr all along the beautiful river. We rode bikes around Friday's Meadow. They have places to rent if you don't want to haul the RV. We will definitely go back and rent the Lookout Cabin for our family reunion!

Shasta Package. We got married at the peninsula with a view of Mt. Shasta in the background. It was magical! Our reception area was just as beautiful. Our wedding party stayed at Look Out Lodge, which is a large 8 person cabin on the property. It was so much fun to have my dearest friends and family right there to celebrate with me from beginning to end. My husband and I took advantage of the Pond House, a small two person cabin right on the pond where we got married, which became our honeymoon suite. Many of my out of town guests brought up their tents and camped. They had access to a clean restroom and showers the whole time. I believe there's an option to bring RVs as well. All of this was included in the package! And the host was very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend Friday's Retreat as a destination wedding site. It is the place to be if you want an outdoor wedding with a view of Mt.Shasta.

We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care.

The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. The host in the campground Frank and his dog Reno were great !! We really enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, a lovely place to spend a couple days !!! Thank you!!!Cheers !!

The staff is so kind and helpful and we were easily able to extend our stay until repairs could be handled. Bathrooms clean, plenty of shade trees, quite open space. Options for cabins to stay in, RVs, and tents. Beware of COWS! They are on the side of the county road that leads here and sometimes decide to be on the road. Drive slow in the dark for sure!

The kids really enjoyed the playground (but be warned, they will come back extra dirty- yay for the showers). We only have a truck camper that has a battery with solar, but still booked a site with full electric just in case we needed an extra charge (we did use electricity for our air fryer though). One downside to me was not having a camp fire ring or a table (luckily we had our own, but we don't always take one)... but it wasn't a deal breaker. Pamela was very friendly, and when we came to the on site store for something we ran out of, unfortunately it wasn't available in the store, she did however get us what we needed from her personal house. Thank you again. If we are ever in that area we'd definitely come back.

It appears construction/contractors stay here til their job is completed. It was quiet the one night we stayed. The woman running the place was friendly. $25 per night and cash only. She allowed us to unhook our 5th wheel while went to get cash at the mini mart across the highway. Nothing fancy but it allowed us some shut-eye. We'd stay here again if we had to.

In the beginning of the trail, there is a General Store and restroom. The restroom is an actual restroom with toilet and sink. Not a portable potty! The trail to Burney Falls was easy. Different parts of the trail, there is a different view of the fall. The view from bottom of the fall was breathtaking. Be very careful if you want to get close to the fall. The rocks can be very slippery. We went off season so the crowds were not as bad as expected. If visiting Friday-Sunday or during the holidays, reservations are required. This is something new that they implemented on May 15, 2026. Check out their website for more information. Plan accordingly and enjoy the hiking adventures!

My family and I were booked to stay at one of their cabins (cabin #68) this past weekend and it was…read morea complete nightmare. We found bed bugs everywhere! We did not sleep the night we got there as we were trying to scramble to find another place to stay at. We ended up staying in our vehicle and contacted the manager to report the infestation. The manager claimed that they've done their due diligence to keep their cabins sanitized, but if you refer to the photos and videos I posted that is a complete LIE! Instead of enjoying our vacation, we ended up having to go to a local laundry mat to clean our clothes. Not to mention upon coming home my nephew finds a bed bug on one of his bags. Can you imagine the hell we've been through? It's terrible! To top it off, my niece's friend gets rushed to the ER yesterday due to these bed bugs biting her all over her body. She was sent home with topical and oral medication. Refer to the photos! I'm severely disappointed with the lack of accountability of the manager and its property. My sister tried speaking to a staff member today to follow up and she hung up on my sister after claiming someone would call her today to get this settled. We are planning to file a complaint and a report to the local health department. We are concerned that other people may encounter the same problem. Please beware!
