TL;DR - good, simple Korean food for a decent price This place has been a Kingston mainstay. We've gone so many times that we affectionately refer to it as "Pods". This place is without a doubt a top tier Korean restaurant in Kingston along with Gangnam Style. There are a few dishes we consistently order: Gamjatang: Very flavourful. Sometimes overly so - the salt level can be so concentrated that we actually have to dilute it with water. They are pretty generous with the pork bones though (which are always very succulent and tender), and the flavour of the soup is always top notch. Order if you can handle heavy handed application of salt. Soon tofu soup with seafood: Our go to order here. A spicy, light, flavourful seafood soup with vegetables and seafood. Perfect for a cold day - easy to eat. While this is not even close to Toronto stores like Buk Chang Soon Tofu, it is still quite tasty, and we would recommend for anyone. Vegetable dumplings: Oily, tasteless dumplings. Would not order unless you're seriously craving something fried.

    Born-less korean spicy fried chicken

This place quiet good. The taste of chicken is exactly same as I had in Korea. Mandu soup was also great. Lots of people order the food for pickup or delivery. They look like really busy.

TL; DR Podo Namu is a great place to sit down and grab something to eat. With amazing Korean food and a unique atmosphere you cant go wrong. I was really in the mood for some Thai food, when my favorite restaurant was closed, I decided to take walk down Princess St. to find somewhere else to eat. I had heard of Podo Namu before, and when I passed it the windows were steamed up, I had to go in and see what was going on. The restaurant was super cozy, and the steam looked like it was coming from the kitchen as well as all the Korean hot spots that were being served. I sat down and was given a menu, I started off with some ginger tea. The tea was nice and was perfect on a cold day. I decided to order some fried rice cakes ($6) and the dolsot bibimbap as a main course ($14). The rice cakes came first and were served in a sweet sauce and were incredible. I had never had rice cakes before and I enjoyed them a lot, it was really worth the $6 I payed for it. Then came the dolsot bibimbap which was served in a hot bowl with carrots, rice, pork, and egg. This is one of my favorite dishes and was great, it was also served with Korean side dishes (Banchan) that were extremely tasty. Podo Namu is now one of my favorite spots in all of Kingston and is a perfect place for a cold winters night. I can't wait to go back and try some new things off their menu! I am a big bibimbap and Korean foodie, by far best bibimbap in Kingston! The atmosphere is very cozy, the staff was nice and helpful and the food was amazing. Bibimbap was exactly how it should be and the sizzling bowl was actually sizzling and the rice was perfectly crisped! We also got the fried chicken.... forget KFC, forget Popeyes, the Korean fried chicken was out of this world! Hot, crispy juicy but not oily it was absolute perfection! Price seems a little on the high side but I have 2 meals left over, portion sizes make it worth it. This is going to be my new spot in Kingston for sure! Highly recommend!

Seafood tofu soup that's spicy Small rice portion

The veggie jeon is good because it's pretty loaded and the batter / pancake is thick and crispy. and my friend recommended the mayo chicken. This time I ordered the tofu and seafood soup with rice. The rice portion is small unfortunately

Podonamu is probably one of the few Korean restaurants in Kingston but definitely has best Korean food in Kingston! Atmosphere: - small restaurant located on princess street - usually very busy with wait times around 20 min during dinner times Service: - we waited for 30min for our food to arrive - the staff there are extremely nice tho... I think they're usually short staffed relative to how busy the restaurant is Food: - highly recommend their scallion fried chicken... it's SOOO GOOD - they're regular Korean fried chicken is pretty good too - the chicken with the sauce is okay...wouldn't recommend - bibimbap and soondubu is standard compared to Toronto places Overall it's my go-to place for Korean food and for their fried chicken!! Come after 8pm for their combo deals (chicken + beer/soju) Also they're not open on Mondays :(

This was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend & I went on Saturday night for dinner and there was a line out to the door (I know now that it's because it's very good!) We were seated fairly quickly despite being a small restaurant and the wait staff was very nice. Our waitor apologized a few times for service being slow but I didn't think it was too bad. We had the pork bone soup & the beef bulgogi, both were full of flavour and would order again. We also had an appetizer that was like Korean sushi which was very satisfying. Prices were reasonable as well. Portions are not huge but will probably be enough unless you eat like Jughead. Would return without a doubt as I already know what I will try next time!

My roommate and I go back to Podu Namu week after week for our favourite two dishes - the ddeokbokki and kimbab! Out of all the Korean cuisine places in Kingston, it's the only place that has kimbab (as far as I know?). The fried chicken is also delicious and great for when you're having dinner with a group of friends :) It's a super cute date place, with the most charming interior decor. Will always love Podu Namu and will really miss it once I graduate!

They need some help. More than a dozen seats were waiting to be cleared. It's a disgrace of a Korean restaurant. Kimchi was the saddest and saltiest excuse of any kimchi I've seen anywhere. Tofu soup had barely enough tofu floating on top. Seafood or pork? Microscopic shrimp, thinnest slices of pork and squid. Shameful. Bibambap was okay. Slowest service. No hot tea. No banchan or side dishes except for the pathetic, inedible kimchi. Really, do they have any dignity or pride?

Awesome food but lack of servers on a Friday evening. Took us an hour from order to receive food. WiFi wasn't working, much to improve.

We had just moved back to Fort Drum, NY from living in Korea for the last 3 years. Prior to Korea,…read morewe've gone to many Korean bbq in America and have had amazing experiences. This one was one of the most depressing experience I've had in my life. The kids were even sad First the grill. It's not the built into the table ones, so no air vents above to suck up the air. They bring the table side one to your table. Second, we had to complain twice about the weak flames/grill and that it was taking over 5 minutes to cook the paper thin beef slices. Kids were starving. Second, banchan. The side dishes. If you've been to any decent Korean restaurants, you know that the free side dishes are full of color and flavor. They only have us these sad dishes. The kimchi was fine, I just wanted some green onions, spinach, bean sprouts, something. Third... no steamed eggs! I don't think I've ever seen a Korean restaurant without Gyeran-jjim. That's one of our favorite side dishes, so that was disappointing. Fourth, garlic. We love getting thin slices of garlic to cook on the grill and eating it in our lettuce wrap. They claimed they didn't have any garlic. Odd. Location, off of the main road with plenty of parking. So that was good. The servers were kind, but had a tough time with the grill to work properly. We finally had one of the male servers to swap out the grill and the meat finally started sizzling. I think this place has great potential, but if it's a portable burner and barely any side dishes, I can easily do it at home. We love going out for kbbq for the full experience of endless banchan. Our search continues...

We got a variety of marinated beef, kalbi, and pork belly. No complaints it gets the job done. Also got an order of tteokbokki and korean pancake which were also just ok. Would've liked the tteokbokki to have some extras in there other than just the rice cake. Textbook 3 star it's just ok but a bit pricy.

My first, first to review ~…read more It's always nice to see more Korean restaurants open up in Kingston (gives me more excuses to eat out). Having tried Podonamu and Gangnam Style, I was pretty intrigued as how this place would compare to the two staples in the area. Overall it's pretty decent I would say, along with the other two. It's takes on a bit more of a modern setting with ordering in the front and pickup via trays like you would at a food court. They have some seating but not too many so might be hard to sit down during busy times of the day. Their menu is pretty much what you'd expect from any Korean joint. A healthy selection of soups, noodles, and rice options. I opted for the gamjatang (pork bone soup) as I've had at both Podo and Gangnam. As a new restaurant, I give it some leeway in saying that it's alright but still needs some work. The soup flavour was there but it felt a little starchy? (not sure how to explain it but it just wasn't like what I was used to in texture) The pork itself was solid and portions were good too. Sides were served in small little bowls individually and were ok. I would definitely go back and try their other options to see how they stack up but in terms of pork bone soup I thought it was below average. Overall, a very welcome addition to Korean options in Kingston and I'm hoping they really take off!
