I ended up spending 30$ on green tea and rice alone, this was only for 2 people. No transparency that they would charge me so much, especially for the rice. Really insane that my max 30$ meal turned to 60$. I've been to this restaurant the most throughout my undergrad, love their food, and always thought/spoke highly of it. This was my first time having it in a while, so it really sucks getting gouged by them. I won't go here again, if you do make sure to know about the real prices. read more

Gangnam Style implies a posh & whimsical Korean lifestyle & dance, none of which you will find here! Instead it's a down-to-earth food experience at this Kingston restaurant. This starts from the basic decor to the Korean lady traditionally running the kitchen. Menu prices were very reasonable, catering to the student demographic. Gam Ja Tang (pork bone soup) was a pleasant surprise, with large pieces of pork neck bone and fall-off-the-bone meat in the mildly spicy fresh kimchi broth. But the potato could've used more time to soak up the bold soup flavours. The colourful Bibimbap was served with a nice runny egg but the chopped vegetables caused stirred rice to be watery. That was atoned by a popping platter of Korean Seasoned Fried Chicken in sweet & spicy gochujang sauce. The boneless half portion was huge. Pieces were crunchy & saucy in one bite! This restaurant is a short drive up Princess St from downtown with city parking nearby. Both patio & indoor dining options were available. Service was smooth & easygoing. Would say average Korean food, but honestly might not come back again. Average pricing but not really worth it. Pork belly isn't really fresh, very stale taste. Took a very long time to get seated even though there was no one in line and there was empty tables. Has my vote; Well prepared - quite delicious if you like Asian. I like that most dishes were served in hot pots - food stayed hot throughout the meal. My family enjoyed a delicious meal here tonight! You can tell the Korean food they serve here is authentic and homecooked. The service was attentive and friendly too. I'm not rating the food as much as the service. The restaurant is decent enough and the food is better than a lot other Korean restaurants. We order fried chicken, some pork bone soup and cheesy pork dish. All tastes great, but throughout the whole time, the waitress showed once with water and service was just meh. In the end we wanted to take out our leftover and asked for a box. When the bill came I saw we were charged a dollar for the box!!! Nobody mentioned that earlier and I've never seen it anywhere else. To add to the insult, a 15% tip was added automatically cause we were a party of 6. Yes, technically we were six , but that includes two kids of 5 and 3. I didn't want to make an argument so I just paid and walked. I don't know whose rules were those , but it's just dumb and for the record , this is the second worst service from all Korean restaurants I've been to in the past 10 years. read more

TL;DR - good Korean food. Won't knock your socks off, but the best you'll find in Kingston. This new Korean restaurant recently opened in Kingston. At Psy's eponymous restaurant, we expected a concert of bold, modern, exciting Korean flavours. What entailed was more of a half-baked dress rehearsal. The dishes weren't bad by any means, but they were far from memorable. Seafood noodle soup: 3/5. Imagine a pack of Shin ramen noodles with frozen seafood - that's what this dish tasted like. It was still delicious, but it reminded me of something I would make at home. The spicy broth was really tasty, but tasted very strongly of seafood. If you aren't a fan of "fishy" flavours, stay away from this dish. Bibimbap: 4/5. This is really solid bibimbap. This is as good as you'll get anywhere in Koreatown in Toronto. The only area of improvement we would have liked would have been having purple rice instead of white rice. Aside from this, it was perfectly good. The vegetables all tasted fresh, the rice was pleasantly flavoured with sesame oil, and the beef was succulent. We will absolutely come back to taste some of the other dishes. Hopefully we'll find a smash hit. In the broader context of Korean food, this place is a good but forgettable, honest attempt of authentic Korean foods. But in the quaint hollows of Kingston, Gangnam Style represents a breakthrough in the Asian food scene. This restaurant presents a strong challenge to Podonamu, Hwaki, and any other Korean mainstay in Kingston. My first time here and I ordered the spicy seafood noodles ($14.99) - it was actually filling, the soup was seasoned and spiced nicely (not too spicy but def had a kick to it), and there was a good amount of seafood (mainly calamari and shrimp and I got one mussel haha) My friend ordered Gamjatang and he said I'd say 3.5/5 for me. TL: DR - great food with a unique atmosphere, not huge portions but tasty Korean food perfect for a casual Asian meal. When I noticed a new restaurant had popped up in Kingston with the name Gangnam Style, I was more than curious. I wandered in with two friends on a Tuesday night, and was immediately greeted by the sound of K-pop. We decided to sit at a table in the middle of the restaurant with a full view of the K-pop music videos on their large TV. I started my meal with some pork fried dumplings, these fried dumplings were accompanied by a dipping sauce. The dumplings were not crunchy, and the fillings were tasty but not anything special. I also ordered the Bulgogi Pot, this was filled with delicious tender beef as well as a medley of vegetables (onion, mushroom, eggplant) with a side of white rice. As is typical in Korean cuisine, each meal was served with a small side of kimchi and Korean style potatoes for the table to share. These accompanying sides were delish and one of the best Kimchi's I have had yet. This Bulgogi Pot was the perfect meal for a cold winter's day. The food was decent portion but was expensive for the quantity that I got. Though the portion size was small, this was made up for by the taste and I was still impressed. The Glass Noodles were really good and not spicy at all like you'd expect from Korean Food. My boyfriend and I ordered The Half and Half Fried chicken. The spicy half was super spicy but good.
