Burns & Sons does NOT deserve even this 1 star rating. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. The employees were rude, completely dismissive & unfriendly. My family purchased a fridge from here & while their delivery people were taking the fridge into our house they ripped the wiring for the lights on our freezer / freezer door. They left it and we later found the ripped off wiring in pieces and inside of the freezer. We have been without lights for a year now and they refuse to contact us back or make this right or they say they are "looking into it" and no communication happens past that. They refused to honor our 1 year warranty and keep pushing back communication (if there is any) so that it goes past the 1 year & they will no longer be held responsible. Joe, the owner is thee most disrespectful "business owner" if you want to call it that & refuses to take any sort of responsibility for his employees. Joe is also unprofessional when it comes to handling these sorts of situations & often resorts to calling you names. We wanted to support local businesses and unfortunately for Burns & Sons that will NEVER happen again & I will be sure to deter anyone & everyone far far away from here. read more

Regarding the Burlington location. Don't use Burns and Sons for repairs, after using them twice I'm convinced their technician has a conflict of interest. Never again, I'm so frustrated. While replacing rollers on a dryer the technician "accidentally" installed the drum backwards, causing the failure of a bearing and seal within a week. And on the return service call we were told that the front drum bearing/seal was no longer made and we needed to replace the unit. They did offer a small credit towards our next purchase. A family member discovered the incorrect assembly, ordered aftermarket parts and repaired the unit for $30. Our previous experience was similar, but was for a dishwasher repair. I would suggest finding an independent repair person who doesn't primarily sell new units. read more

Be forewarned! It's unbelievable their lack of customer service and what they're willing to reduce themselves to. I just got off the phone and Chris Burns the wife of the owners who was yelling in the phone, stated that she had no history of a repair order, and even though I had called had an appointment, she now says that I have to take it up with a class action lawsuit even though I paid for the extended warranty of which I've never received a copy even though I've asked multiple times. The father was a man of integrity and did his work well, I bumped into one of the delivery people that used to work there and said he would never work for them again all they care about is making the sale and they could care less about taking care of the customer. Warning! I purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher 17 months ago and it has received gentle use in a one-person household. It stopped draining so I called Burns and Sons in Burlington. After a quick service call (and a $90 bill), the technician told me it MIGHT need a new control panel for$175 plus however much installation would cost! When I paid the bill, I shared my frustration about needing a control panel after such gentle use, but I haven't heard a response. seems to me that they really don't care that they have sold a poor quality appliance. We have a Whirlpool four door refrigerator that we have had for a few years. A few months ago we bought a new Whirlpool top freezer refrigerator from Burns and Sons in Muscatine to put in our lower level, so that we would always have a back up in case something happened to one of the refrigerators. Well, as luck would have it, both refrigerators started having trouble at about the same time. We called Burns and Sons. They picked up both refrigerators and, despite having issues with parts and being short-handed, were able to fix them and get them back to us in a timely fashion. They were also able to provide us with a clean loaner. Burns and Sons is a family-owned business and repairs are done by their personnel. They worked hard to make sure we were properly taken care of. Based on our experience with Burns and Sons in Muscatine, we give them five stars and can recommend them without reservation. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would do so! Imagine... just before Thanksgiving and the stove quit working. Went to several places to find one and found the perfect one at Burns & Sons, but not in white (to go with the other appliances). The manager drove 40 miles away to Davenport to get one and made the time to get it installed the DAY before Thanksgiving (even though they were booked with other appointments!) Not only that... the fuses (old house) blew and they bought and replaced them so the stove would function. KUDOS to all these wonderful people at Burns and Sons! I can't thank them enough for the extra special effort they made to make "mama" happy for her Thanksgiving dinner. read more

I want to start off by saying I normally don't post about business but, have given them a lot of chances and they can't get it right. I purchased appliances 2 years ago for our kitchen dishwasher, stove, and refrigerator. I had them come out about 8 months after installation for service on refrigerator the ice maker was frozen. They unthawed it and came back in two months and had to replace so that was another 2 months because they had to order the part. This year the refrigerator did it again and they said it was mother board and they need to replace and order. This was around July we have been waiting and it never came in so I called them to find out the part was never ordered. I then spoke to manager who then would speak to his wife never heard back. So today I called again to let them know my oven isn't working and she told me that I needed to call insurance company because they don't have a service guy to service right now and they never ordered my part. I am super frustrated with this business and will no longer support them. Which I wanted to support a small business and then all this happens I have had never had so many appliance issues and unprofessional service. Thank you! read more

I was trying to support local business when I needed a new refridgerator. I went to Burns,paid for an extended warranty and had to use it so often I was on a first name basis with the repairman. The storefront staff were rude and unhelpful so many times. I lost 3 loads of groceries at different times with their fridge. A part that was needed came in after a few days wait and I couldn't get on the schedule for 3 more days. The fridge is faulty and freezes up destroying the function of the ice maker. The son insisted I needed a booster pump for the water though the Kenmore had never needed one. That was another 400.00 plus ceiling repair in the basement. When I vented about the situation several people said I was another person who got burned by Burns and son. They are doing a good job killing what had been a thriving business. My new washer, dryer and stove are not from them. read more

My parents bought a new freezer from here in January, took 3 weeks to get it. When it was delivered by them it was damaged, store owner promised a $50 rebate which has not been received yet, and now will not return phone calls. It has been 6 weeks since this was agreed upon. Other family members have also had the same customer service from them....NONE!!! Would not recommend going there. read more

I will not patronize this establishment again for the following reasons: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE -poor communication between staff and staff and customer. UNACCEPTABLE INSTALL -the delivery crew broke the already repaired appliance and left it improperly installed causing a safety concern. The 75 lbs appliance was left hanging with only one bolt because they had broken the second bolt connection. UNREASONABLE TIMELINE OF WORK -The repair was promised to be returned within the week, after 7 phone calls over 25 days with no return calls, it was delivered and installed improperly. The owner inspected the work and said they would "fix the problem." He stated it would be done within a day or 2. After a week, it was delivered. FAILURE TO MAKE IT RIGHT -After this very stressful fiasco (we were selling our home and having to coordinate with new home owner) and struggling to get solid answers to pointed questions we received a bill....all-in-all, they removed the delivery fee, but me standing in utter amazement for all the wrong reasons, asking myself, "is this really happening?" was not "Made Right" by waving a delivery fee.... Although I had previously been happy with the customer service received from the folks at Burns & Sons, I'm not sure why, but things have changed. They are completely unorganized and do not return phone calls. I've tried TWICE this week to get a service technician out to my house to work on my double oven wall unit (that I purchased along with all my other appliances from Burns & Sons) and this is the second time they were a no show. Called the store and no one has any record of the service call and the gentleman I talked to is out until Monday. read more

I purchased a top of the line dish washer. They have been out two times to install it, and it still leaks. I had to take a video of where it was leaking from under the dishwasher and go to their office to show them for them to come out the third time. On the third time they were supposed to come out first thing in the morning, yet at 4:45 PM I was still fighting to get an eta for the repair. They said it was to be done after they close at 7 that night cause they were busy.. doesn't matter that I can see the two repairman teams that already came out hiding in back and the owner who was "unloading a truck in back" was unloading an invisible truck at the loading dock..They did come out and fix the leaking hose.. but raised it so high that the top control panel was hitting on the mounting screws. They fixed the problem and ran.. Not going to have them come back out for this.. Will just do it myself.. a lot less hassle.. won't purchase or deal with them again.. read more
