PANCAKES!!!! They are absolutely stellar. Buttery, crispy, and fluffy...these might make you question your Mom's Saturday morning flips lol Tucked away within Brixton Market Burnt Toast Cafe is easy to find. The atmosphere is casual and chill. Seating is limited so be prepared to wait. And take note: Burnt Toast Cafe is a CASH ONLY business so hit the ATM on the way there. Will def be going back...possibly tomorrow.

The second offering from the Breads Etc empire! It's a different beast from the popular Clapham original, but I really like it. You're afforded a more personal, friendly and unique experience here. More families and Brixton folk, less moody hungover Clapham-ites! No indoor seating - it's essentially a bakery with a couple of ovens inside the shop itself - you find yourself huddled around corner tables jutting out into the aisles of the Village Market. Blankets were provided and the coat definitely stayed on! So did the gloves. Shouldn't be a problem come the warmer months! The menu is simpler too. 4 slices of different bread with a wide option of sides to make your meal as big as you'd like. I'd recommend the sausage, and the soft boiled eggs were some of the best I've had in a loooong time. The popular DIY toasters remain and they have all the spreads and toppings you're likely to need. Great coffees to be had here too. The staff are super friendly and chatty and, given they're a relatively new beast, very eager to make sure you're happy and looked after. Brixton Village is a great spot to wander around before or after your food - lots of boutiques and niche shops. A very pleasant experience all round!

Great french toast, large portion, fresh blueberries and straberries.....Caramalised banana and honeycomb and americano for 12.30 Highly recomend and great service.

YUM!! All I can say is yum. We had a great experience start to finish. I was not overly hungry so I just ordered a side of bacon and eggs. My husband got the French toast and loved it! Service was fast and food was delicious! :)

Really fluffy pancakes! Generous portions. Worth going back for. Really busy towards lunch time so maybe expect a little wait.

He had looked up restaurants that served a full English breakfast, and Kennington Lane Cafe was highly regarded, and it happened to be a few minutes away from our B&B. We loved our breakfast so much that we went back a second day. What I liked about the menu was that is was easy to create exactly what you wanted. You could order a set breakfast (and easily add on extra sides), or you could pick and choose what you wanted, and make the breakfast as small or as large as needed to match your appetite. The breakfast I created had a small steak, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, and bubble and squeak. Delicious! I don't have an itemized bill of exactly what we ordered and the price of each item, but the totals on my credit card bill are £20.89 the first day and £20.50 the second day, and each bill included breakfast and coffee for two. Essentially, you can get a full breakfast for £10 -- a fantastic deal. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England; Poor and hungry?]

I learned otherwise at Federation which was nice and cozy and like going green with the sustainable options. For example, they only gave you a to-go cup if you were really trying to go. Late morning on a Saturday was probably the absolute -worst- time to make a first foray to Federation Coffee, though. Interminable lines, no free seats*, and 10-15 minute waits for even beverage orders. On the flip side, my iced soy latte was delightful. The jury's still out on this coffee shop. With so many stellar caffeination stations to be had in Clerkenwell, I'd have to 1) already be in Brixton, 2) be really craving a fix, and 3) have someone else suggest a visit here to consider giving it another go. --- * I was fortunate enough to arrive at the perfect time that a cute stranger was getting up; he graciously offered me his stool.
